  1. Do we all thank Kodak for a quick, suggestive snapshot on the current state of humanity? So we can shout loudly, & fornicate publicly like farm animals do..that's progress! Only scanned a few comments, as yest was fairly busy. Call me old-school(too conservative, whatever?..), but if these are the kinda 'newsworthy' actions, that go viral to everyone's enjoyment, it's a pretty sorry state. What happened to decency, & society, in general? Wish we could all go back to(about 1970!) & start over... In the 1990's figured I'd seen enough, & basically walked away from the rudely obnoxious, & unsustainable, NA'n lifestyle. Appears it's deteriorating even more rapidly now, likely exacerbated with the distorted 'progress' of speedy high-tech, group-think. If I went back to them same early 90's, wouldn't walk away - I'd run.
  2. The Spring Basho(every March) in Osaka is a hoot. First time we attended, the Missus took me to a nearby noodle restaurant beforehand, that the wrestlers often frequent. It's cool to see them milling about, amongst the public - although most folks certainly give them a wide berth! There was an amazing gaijin expert/TV analyst on sumo, a Ms Doreen Simmons. She'd come to Japan about 5 decades back, & fell in love with the sport. She got to know many stable managers & wrestlers, & offered keen insight. She wrote mag articles & provided commentary on NHK. It was sad when she passed on a few yrs back.
  3. Could see both the Habs & Desert Mutts rushing to sell early. It will be a buyer's market.
  4. So as mentioned above, this arduous, challenging roadie seems quite timely. Should we buy/sell marginal pieces, all this calculating prob matters not. However, should we define ourselves sellers(ergo: road trip's a dog), it's possibly better to make the move earlier, if we decide to part with a significant piece.
  5. Might be beneficial to face this grueling road test now. By Feb, we should be able to clearly define our immediate strategy.
  6. Just a quick, suggestion-thread, based on some recent trends/observations: 1- Came to my awareness, from an HF thread I saw: The top-8 in the East are already basically carved in stone. The Isles could make a charge, but are likely too far back. So 7, 8 strong sellers should be working phones from the east. Of the 8 PO shoo-ins, perhaps(2) have significant cap space for extravagance. 2- Fortunately the west is more up for grabs. Although I'd imagine 4 or 5 more fall back before TDL. Thus there'll likely be maybe 14, 15 aggressive sellers by March. 3- In short, if you define your team a seller, it may be wise to move early. 4- Randomly a question: If you aren't a top-half(of whole league), worthy foe, are more ownerships deciding to cut bait, & go all-in pursuing futures in youth/picks? In the armchair GM/tech age, seems the only 2 ways to maintain fanbase interest is either WIN, or accumulate a wealth/horde of prospects. A proper, loaded pipeline also appears to keep a fanbase committed. Isn't it strange how(apparent) key TV markets & major US cities seem to always receive THE star player(oft signed to good deals), or a slew of youth/picks compared to their counterparts from the 'lower half'. This in addition to falling back(for a yr or two) yet MIRACULOUSLY winning a lotto(when they do slide back)
  7. WW3 could kick off with the hubris of some empires...
  8. ^Was gonna guess Boeser, as well. Pkg to Rags for Schneids is groovy
  9. Boeser signed up for an NHL season; yet winds up living a novel combo from Jack Kerouac & Ken Kesey! Next he'll be singing & strummin' Dylan's, "Tangled Up In Blue"! ..The only thing he knew howda' do Was to keeep on, keeepinnn onnnnnn...
  10. My word, Alf-man..if this guy leapt from the top of his ego, & landed at the level of his IQ?! Why, he'd break every bone in his body!
  11. Maybe he'll get busted for crossing a border whilst carrying gambling-intentions?! :^O
  12. So far it's the take-a-break month! But let's not quibble :^/
  13. It's been so long..starting to forget what their faces look like. Does he play like BURE?!
  14. After surviving 4 yrs of Gang-Green, we should trudge on with our chin up!
  15. Benn & Sequin almost 20 mill of AAV? Nice to see the Stars bathing in BS Reminiscent of the town they left(Minny), who wound up taking a bath in 2 atrocious contracts, & screwed for the next 3 yrs. This guy knows they got no wriggle-room, so he wants to go wherever he can cash in. Could see him wind up in Philly(Ellis deal?) or perhaps Boston.
  16. The scheming, degenerate Rags may feel that they've accumulated enough young assets, they may splurge excess to land a talented alien. Further, look how they picked another Cdn pocket to land a certain, goofy swede, already. I haven't gotten over the rigged deck of '94 yet..just don't know?
  17. Don't be knockin' BONSAI, Alf-san! Get 'cherself a lovely miniature pine, & clip away at it for decades..add a mossy bottom & you've got an awesome, alien-experience!
  18. We add Rathbone & they add Schneider, then it starts sounding interesting. Feel the Rags might need to add a + Can't say either way. Don't know enough about Rag's prospects, tbh. But it's an interesting suggestion.
  19. Do agree with the gist of the original post, but it's based upon the first 2, 3 dozen games of this season. Have often stated there's a pre & post(Jan 1st, approx) separation into 2 seasons, where whistles tend to get thrown away. In the rigged deck league, it's best to prepare for shifting standards of officiating. Size & durability are an increased requirement, as campaigns go deeper. That, & it appears we have far more serviceable-depth on our RH-side(Burroughs, Bowey, Juulsen..JB prepared well here). The Poolman/Rath for an exp'd, tough LhD(like Edmundson) would help to balance our complete corps. Got no problem with Poolman either - feel he's given his all. Not sure we want that AAV for 4 yrs, however. Since Habs are entering rebuild-territory, would say these two assets(Poolman & Rath) could serve them well. Lastly, not really surprised by how all of this has played out. Had expected our D would outperform the BS media-portrayals. Started my own thread, on Oct 13th(Canucks talk..14 pages back), where I forecast that Green would be kiboshed halfway thru, but we would STILL land 2nd in the Pac Div. Go have a gander, it's in black & white. No LOL's Necc!
  20. A big, tough & exp'd Lhd man would prob fit the bill. Van: Poolman & Rathbone Habs: Edmundson If Joel Edmundson got back on their active roster(injury & fam matters), I'd really like such a deal. & agree with the OP, our D ain't what the media/naysayers portrayed. edit: OEL - Myers Hughes - Schenn Edmundson - Hamonic & Burroughs ^ Such a d-core has a bit of everything, at a very decent price tag/AAV
