  1. Spent so many yrs as a non-comformist, have forgotten how day-to-day society works. For example, haven't driven a car since the late 90's. Don't carry a cell ph, nor will never, ever buy a F***ing smart(?)phone either. I spend a lot of time in the mtns(when not teaching kids english, with the Missus). Nature can heal the mind/stress. Used to do long triathlons, but time & energy got the squeeze. Had to back off. Really miss it, but still train about 15 hrs/wk, not 25. Never been to California(sorry Page & Plant); but from what I see/hear/read of the place, I couldn't last a day there. So you've got more endurance than I, Gunga Din. I figure a guy needs perhaps 2(at least) of these 3. A lovely squeeze; long training; good reads. Keep the heart, body & mind sound, & the rest is just window-dressing. Now I may be wrong(or non-pc, whatever?), but this approach has kept me rolling. All the best...
  2. Toughness with charisma is even MORE influencing & powerful. Not in the room here(of course), but it appeared to me, guys like Big Mac & Gadj had more than mere muscle. Looked like these two were great team guys, with confidence & determination. These guys lead in Spring, when every inch is a battle. So just throw 'em into the laundry hamper, eh there GREENER?! Freeken numbskull, kibosh the doofus!
  3. Long distance training. Long rides, runs & swims were the routine, up until about 10 yrs back. Try to get it done early, whenever you've the chance - the whole day feels more productive. It fits so well into a daily lifestyle, here in Japan.
  4. 4. Yellowstone eruption (should help us all keep things in perspective :^)
  5. Pretty much agree with this assessment. Can Green now. Give JB 'til the end of season, with the understanding that NO FUTURES are spent in deals.
  6. Watching Gadj lock horns with Lowry leaves a hole in the soul. Looking more like Green has trashed this team, removing the backbone. Had wanted a team with that kid Gadj, big Nik & Big Mac. Tired of Cinderellas being pushed around. About a yr back, figured that was the plan? Thought we were finally goin with YOUTH?!?!!! Might need a lengthy break from this clown-show..appears JB & TG have concocted a dog's breaky...
  7. As a group, they're a tight, in-synch, outfit. Just call them Gang-Green!
  8. We'd look like buzzards, circling the dying dog in the desert. Best move on to other targets.
  9. Are off-ice scandals mostly serving as distraction from the travesty of on-ice officiating? Stay tuned boppers...
  10. Through the marathon of an NHL reg season, at least we have some D-depth. The longer we can delay the necessity of inserting Hunt, the bigger the win.
  11. Wish they'd stop the militarization of every/any sporting event. World peace would be a hoot. Hell, let's have hippy night.
  12. Glad this div looks better than folks expected. Sink 'r swim in this dirty world. Otherwise we try to be the 4th best sloth(at hanging around) in a zombie-div. Let's pick it up & get near the top. Otherwise gas this coach.
  13. Sure would rather have our present roster/all assets, than Marc Bergevin's assorted collection. I think these two GM's have had a similar length of term served, in their respective Cdn, fan-obsessed markets. I like that the majority of our key guys are young, & (mostly) locked in for a number of years. They are still sorting which lines & combos are optimal, but it appears a team that should be pretty fun to watch. We should wait 'til 30, 40 games in, before a landslide of doom & gloom threads.
  14. Loved what we saw from Chaisson tonite. Finally saw elements to his game that were missing, as well as figured out his tricky spellin'! Keep it up, buster.
  15. Happy to say I missed this game, being out for the day. Don't think I'll bother clicking on it now. Hard to see Green lasting 20 games.
  16. Appears they're tumbling into a quagmire. On youtube, was listening to "The Sick Podcast With Tony Marinaro"..this guy has a decent show. Would give it a recommend. Would also say the Habs make for a pretty interesting franchise, case-study, at the moment. Looks like they'll have to make some hard decisions in the near future. Will MB be making trade decisions for much longer? Appears this would be the first question to mull. If many more teams encounter fwd injuries, they'd probably be wise to start selling. That bottom-10 finish will look more inviting with every passing wk...
  17. LW-lock?! For continuity's sake, I'd like TG to glue the C's & LW's together at the hip(perhaps a stretch of games?). It's easy to see how they can change things up, in-game, with shuffling the RW's at times. Let's hope VP's sh side-blast off the left side, announces his official arrival for TWO decades of dominance from that wing. It was a beaut.
  18. Pretty unfair with St Louis. Their young backup 'tender is already a Hofer. What a find!
  19. Whoa, now picture Thatcher as the Scorps front man... Y'see nothing gets thru Cos' I'm set for the shots from you & these dekes & rebounds you do No you'll only be stoned & bluuuue Nothing gets thru!...
  20. In the context of this *hitcago BlightHawk scandal, feel this is a very good time to reflect on what we actually have. I'm not posting to claim Van is perfect, as some kinda' model-franchise. But would indeed put them in the upper echelon of league entries. They've long been an important part of Greater Van/BC, day to day lifestyle. For the most part, we've had players & teams that youth could admire. Dating back to Linden's stint as captain(aside from that potato chip airhead), then the twins, & handing off to Bo, feel we've had leaders on the team the greater public could have faith in. The kinda guys you can't help pulling for. Originally with this thread I wanted to emphasize it's not only about W's & L's. Would we as fans accept a Cup(conditionally) if you had to accept Van also pulling similar antics(as the blackened Hawks of today)? No thanks. With Canuck Place, weren't Van the first sports team to utilize their popularity with such an inspiring & pioneering initiative? Why don't we all as fans, take more time to reflect on, & appreciate what this club truly stands for? At the other end of the integrity-spectrum, resides the likes of sociopaths & psychopathic, malicious weasels. It often appears these are the sort that make up many owners, political insiders, or privileged elites,(who perhaps oversee the running of pro sporting leagues?). To the sketchy opinion of these type of riff-raff, they likely maintain higher levels of disdain for any players or teams, that hold themselves to personally maintain higher standards of conduct in the public eye. Due to the inherent corruption of this league, we might never see some honestly-run teams reach the ultimate goal. That unfortunate possibility shouldn't lead any well-run squad to compromise on the higher values, which should provide the foundation/basis for any successful sporting franchise. For my money, the Vancouver Canucks are as aware of these important realities as any team out there.
