I know nothing about this player but I agree that it almost sounds like he may be the best option at this point for 4C as long as he works hard defensively and can get at least 45% faceoff wins.

Definitely should have waited on gadjo for when there was more talent to choose from. -

Turris as a right hander is interesting. -
This is an imposter Burr. There's only room in Vancouver for one BURROWS and mark my words.......... Real Burrows will be back some day in some capacity behind the bench......

Petan is already my whipping boy so if he makes the team then ya, it is him. Far too often I have seen give aways, or he shies away from hits which allows for sustained pressure in the defensive zone or he glides instead of attacking the net on break ins and on it goes. He has 4 points but take that with a grain of salt given the premium icetime he has received over other players who will be getting it durng the regular season. But he is coach Greens guy so there is that. I also say this because this team is too light and soft so maybe some size bias but not much. I would be happier with Gadjo back though.

[GDT/PGT] Preseason Oilers @ Canucks / Oct. 9 / 6:00 PM Rogers Arena
GB5 replied to -DLC-'s topic in Canucks Talk
My biggest fear for the team this season is that to make it out of their division they need to play and beat some pretty big teams. I hate to lose all this physicality and see our guys get beat on and abused by the Marchands of the league all over again. -
Watching Petey play I was wondering if the Canucks have ever had a player quite like him in their history. The only one I could thinl of remotely close from a pure style standpoint is Nedved but I am not comparing the two because Petey is far more talented just that they both have a bit of a similar style. I like the Bure comparison though as far as he is a superstar and when Petey is on the ice he makes every one better.

Hurricanes didn’t play enough pre season games
GB5 replied to UKNuck96's topic in General Hockey Discussion
That was an entire different beast though. This is not at all on the same scal or level. Bettman takes cap circumvention issues very seriously wheras this may have other mitigating factos such as a global pandemic associated with it and if anything it is hard to see hor the Hurricanes are gaining any kind of real advantage by not trying out paklyers in pre season. -

Interesting that preseason schedules are announced well ahead of time so this should be no surprise to anyone, the league included so I can't see how there could or should be any punative action here. -
[Report] Sharks claim Jonah Gadjovich off waivers
GB5 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
haha, the dude calling him a reclamation projection really doesn't get the true meaning of the term. A 22 year old is still a developing prospect. If they try sending him to the Cuda then he Canucks can claim him right back. -
I honestly didn't know that The Score was still around. I thought they became totally redundant years ago. I guess they are doing what it takes to get some clicks.

Jaroslav Halak named to Team Slovakia’s Olympic Roster
GB5 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
A bit different from what you are saying but it is interesting that both starting goalies in the 2010 gold medal game started for the Canucks, just not at the same time. -
That is probably my burning criticism of his preseason play. Playing on the pp with Petey has looked serviceable but in other games playing with AHL talent he has looked horrendous and has been a give away machine. I doubt he gets a regular shift in the top 6 unless there are some deep injury troubles on the team so I'm not really sure where Green is wanting to go with this player.

I don't know who Juuso Riikola is but I couldn't resist doing this; (Of course I included the cherry ones because the are.... juicier....cough cough) -
Taking it with a grain of salt. Canucks played to the end with a great game from their backup goalie and only about half of their starters dressed against the full Oiler squad and only lost by one. Kind of like the Canada/Mexico soccer match yesterday, this is as good as a win all things considered

Ya, I used to think Crosby was bad but compared to McFlopper there is no comparison at all. They really should get a handle on this in Edmonton because this can taint the legacy of a superstar player very quickly.

Big congrats to Gino!!!!!!...........but to the selection committee, what took you so long?????
-
I thought Smith was out cold but then he popped up like nothing happened at all..... Pretty sad display for Canadian hockey players to act like this
-
Maybe McDonough? He is a big guy who is a good skater, scorer and sticks up for his team mates. We will likely see him some time the end of this season as a Canuck.
-
Far and away his best game last night and I think with some added confidence I finally saw a youngster that is capable of dominating play and carrying the puck to the net. He may start a bit slow but I think Podz will get in a groove and catch fire so yes, he will have a solid rookie year.

Glad Kassian is doing OK, I've always had a soft spot for him ever since he bravely took on the big goon Ben Eager
