  1. Carey has certainly been one of my favorite non-Canuck players over the years and is a great BC guy and has been an excellent role model to many young people. wish him the best during this time and hope to see him back soon.
  2. Ya, they gotta couple slugs out there for sure.
  3. Seems to be a lot of give aways and soft on the puck.
  4. He scored but I think his play has been pretty weak overall. I'm not impressed really.
  5. Petan??? I was just about to call him Megna 2.0
  6. Petan getting into almost every game and imo has only looked ok in one and terrible in the others so far. He must have some dirt on Green from his junior days or something. Too bad Gadjo never got the same opportunity.
  7. McEwen played like a tool in preseason and we suffered through a bunch of other AHL plugs but Gadjo looked interesting and engaged and now he is gone. I think this will come around to bite the Canucks in the arse one day.
  8. Gadj has looked a lot better than the the other AHL plugs that got shut down agaisnt the Kraken last night.
  9. I would catagorize this statement as a swing and a miss. We are talking about a young player here who has never played in North America before. Give him some time to adjust to the NA game first before you start making these kinds of assumptions. What I have seen from Podz is a determined young man with a high compete level and a raw but talented skill set, I think once he makes these adjustments then we will see the player that we expect him to be because the talent is certainly there. He may not start in the NHL but I think he looks like he will be a very good player for this team.
  10. When you say flaky I hope you are talking about the blogger because to me this is about as flaky of an article as I have ever seen. Not a single source quoted or referenced and just pure speculation.
  11. Seeing that currently Highmore may be the guy slotted to start the season there and has done little to impress at preseason I really don't see this as a huge stretch.
  12. Win a cup in the next 6 years and celebrate.... that's my plan. For what its worth, he cap can fall to hell after that.
  13. Unfortunately for Archibald he used his position of influence for the wrong reasons and one must wonder how many other through his use of social media are also left now to suffer because they liked what Archie has been spewing throughout the last year. I do hope he recovers and comes around though
  14. Lehner's tweet said "Fire #vigneault" As a player under contract with another club to me that is certainly worthy of a fine or suspension for Lehner. It is certainly inappropriate use of social media and obviously been misconstrued and Lehner is now backtracking. Players under contract with other clubs should not be taking to social media making claims to have coaches of other teams fired regardless of the circumstances. If Lehner has an issue then take it up with the NHLPA but for now there should be consequences for the actions taken by this player's reckless unprofessional behavior.
  15. I like the defense, I don't know that Podz has done enough to win an NHL job though. He is skating well and looks talented but seems half a step behind sometimes. I think a few AHL games may be a benefit to start, either that or a few more pre-season games and he will be ready. I have not been overly impressed with Highmore but he may get the third line centre by default at his point. If it comes down to Highmore or Petan it is a tough one but last night Petan played the best he has so far so I give him the edge.
  16. Same old Sutherland..... dude should be demoted to the Trashers former league
  17. There are not many of those players tht I recognize. I watched Vesalainen play as a 16 year old, he was a man boy then and dominated against smaller peers. Problem is a lot of those smaller peers have caught up to him in size now.
  18. Probably about half the guys suiting up tonight getting their last looks then... or at least a another last chance to stay arounf longer.
  19. Interesting to see Sean Day on the list. He is one of 5 OHL players to gain exceptional player status with the likes of Tavaras, McDavid, Ekblad etc. Looks like if he makes it as a pro in the NHL he still has a very long way to go if he makes it at all.
  20. This day and age I thought very little is left on the head coach to determine if a player is good to go or not. It is up to the player first and foremost, then the training and medical staff. I'm sure coaches can apply some pressure but rule of thumb is it is not their call and they are seeking others opinions first.
  21. This was pretty crazy, hard to believe it was true. And some player names on the team that I recognize as former NHL'ers as well playing for cash no less like Rumun Ndur, Brent Gretzky and Mike Rupp.
  22. I think so. I was wondering that as well. Instead of looking at the year ahead and wondering if we will have a good team this year we are always trying to look 5 or 6 years ahead and worry that we will mortgage the future with the moves that are happening by trying to develop a good team this year. That is probably neurotic.
