  1. I'm voting Gino vs the Blues but there are so many good ones to list. Here's a retro one of the Canucks vs Quebec........
  2. Probably, he usually plays his best hockey in September and October and then disappears.
  3. If he really wanted to return to where his North American career started he could have come back to BC. I'm told the good folks in Prince George have some fond memories of the big fella in his playing time as a PG Cougar back in the day. Chara is a fantastic athelete so I hope he can finish well.
  4. Deal or no deal yet? I'm getting impatient but better late than a bad deal I suppose. Hopefully we get some news that there is movement and talks because it has been very quiet recently
  5. These two remind me of one another for some reason, they seem to have the same kind of zeal...
  6. I'm going Petey, I see him as an elite talent for a long time in this league. As good as Hughes is and may still be I am not entirely sold that he will be worth what his agent seems to think he is worth. Until he can demonstrate that he can be a solid five on five contributor and not have to play sheltered minutes he will remain in the lesser ranks of hockey pool darling as opposed to potential norris trophy candidate. I say this begrudgeonly because as a young player I think Hughes should become that guy but I would hate to see the Canucks throw money at him based on potential as opposed to seeing him actually demostrate that he is the guy they need him to be.
  7. Actually Bieksa reminded me a lot of Diduck. Both were in about the same weight class as well and to me seemed to be similar fighters.
  8. Greatest pure fighter = Rypien = he willed himself to win Scariest fighter = Gino Meanest SOB = Crowder. This guy scared the pants off of everybody. Most entertaining = Bieksa/Tiger Don't F with my goalie = Garth Most deceptive = Didick I honestly can't put Brashear on my list, he seemed to forget his role near the end of his term as a Canuck and actually started to think he was on the team to be a hockey player. If you read the book "The Hammer" by Dave Schultz, he speaks unfavorably on enforcers that develop this mindset. You have to stick to the tools that got you to the show.
  9. Stay the course, the only change I would like is to start training camps sooner in September and start the regular season on October 1st every year and aim to have playoffs done a bit earlier than they have been. Usually for me when June rolls around I am no longer interested in watching hockey unless of course.......the Canucks are in the finals
  10. Linden all day because he was Mr. heart and sole and was clutch when called upon. Truly the stuff legends are made of.
  11. Naslund was my pick nut now I am thinking Henrik....... hmmm oh well both are good choices. Me thinks Petey good surpass both one day but he needs to reach his prime first to show them all up.
  12. The Canucks did that once too, it didn't take though... https://www.nhl.com/news/canucks-sign-blues-rw-david-backes-to-offer-sheet/c-367440 https://www.nhl.com/news/blues-match-canucks-offer-sheet-to-rw-david-backes/c-367454
  13. My not so bold predictions: 1.Shotgun Jake will be a Flame in 2022/2023 2. GM MG will be hired as Flames next General manager sometime after this season
  14. Pat Quinn it is!!! I found this a tough one between Quinn and Burke, Quinn was the man who transformed a perennial bottom feeder into respectability and brought us legends such as Bure and Linden and the 94 cup run. Those days were some of the best memories of my life. However it was Burke who set the main pieces in place for the 2011 run and a long string of dominance with the Sedins and Kesler. Both men get my respect as Canuck legends but Quinn is the greatest. I actually have the books of each man but the Quinn book is the one that put the biggest smile on my face when I read it.
  15. Oh dear. This is tragic. Certainly hope the best for his loved ones.
  16. That's a player I'd like to see, I think he is too old for the calder and a little bit too retired from pro hockey but it would be about right up their alley to go this route.
  17. Number of games he gets suspended for knee on knee checks
  18. It's been explained throughout the thread. It is because Super Mario would win hands down that he is not a choice. Therefore I guess it is who else would you want.
  19. Alex Chiasson is a player that always impressed me as a hard worker who is hard to play against in the corners and wins a lot of puck battles. He is a big guy a good penalty killer that could possibly play a middle six role if called upon in a pinch. I think the Canucks are pretty full at the wings but Chaisson may be a good 12/13 guy for them if he were able to beat out someone else battlinf for a spot..
  20. Crosby because he has won Stanley and the Golden Goal!!!!! I think McDavid may actually be a better offensive threat but Crosby plays a truly well rounded Canadian style game by playing in the dirty areas, backchecking and scoring.
  21. The only way it isn't Petey is if Petey decides he doesn't want to play hockey anymore and instead takes his unicycle act to Americs Got Talent.
