This is what happens when you take some that more or less works in a passive sport like baseball and try to tweak it to make it work in a highly combative action filled sport like hockey. The two are apples and oranges and you will not get a good fit.

[DEBATE] Which VANCOUVER CANUCKS team are you taking?
GB5 replied to Elias Pettersson's topic in Canucks Talk
1993-1994 team is my choice. To me they were a character team that could score and battle the trenches. I love the 2011 team but in all honesty, the 1994 team would feed them their garter belts for lunch. -
Which team improved the most this off-season?
GB5 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
I think the Canucks are much better but to avoid veing a Homer I voted Philly. -
Jake Virtanen banner still up at Rogers place ( article)
GB5 replied to cuporbust's topic in Canucks Talk
Technically the Canucks are still paying for both of lu and virt so keep them all up there. We can have the all buyout/cap recapture team. -
I also blame Calgary for the fires in BC for stoking the winds because they suck so much.

NHL owners approve jersey ads for 2022-23 season
GB5 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
Based on his outrageous comments a decade or so ago and current fact he is now a senior statesman in the league, I hope Viagra sponsors the Panthers as Thornton needs that on his jersey. -
[DEBATE] Which #7 in their CANUCKS prime are you taking?
GB5 replied to Elias Pettersson's topic in Canucks Talk
I'd change my vote from Pederson to Ronning then, albeit Clifford has this wrapped up anyway. -
[DEBATE] Which #7 in their CANUCKS prime are you taking?
GB5 replied to Elias Pettersson's topic in Canucks Talk
In their prime for sure it was Barry Pederson. He was a Bruin during his prime and the Bruins were playoff darlings and Pederson was a key performer for them. With two 100 point plus seasons he was pretty good. Injuries slowed him down and got the better of him but Pederson was a gamer. Ps.. .. some great players to choose from here with Ronning, BMo and Gary the Looper Lupal on it. -
I think this group is the group to go to battle with. There is good forward depth and several options to battle it out for the final spots. I think that a legit shutdown defender would be beneficial but Poolman and Myers can eat some minutes. Bottom line is I think this is a playoff team so hopefully there is a bit of cap available at the tdl to make a small tweak or two.

I would have referred to them as a tire fire, dumpster fire or something flame related. I guess mess works too.

[DEBATE] Who is the greatest CAPTAIN in NHL history?
GB5 replied to Elias Pettersson's topic in General Hockey Discussion
Beliveau for sure. Messier is over hyped and was a bully by all accounts. -
[Signing] Canucks re-sign Jason Dickinson
GB5 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
That would be a real hard line to play against. -
[Signing] Canucks re-sign Jason Dickinson

Signings are imminent? We had a trade thread like that a while back that eventually came true. -

I like it... -
[Signing] Panthers sign Joe Thornton
GB5 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Joe will fit in well with most dudes sleeping on the beech down there. -

Canucks requiring covid vaccination for staff and fans
GB5 replied to cuporbust's topic in Canucks Talk
There has been a lot of focus on death from Covid, far too much imo. Not that it's not important but there are other factors. To me the narrative should just as importantly be on the survivors. I had two close friends in hospital for close to a month each with covid in the early pre Vax days, healthy men too. Either should have died had it not been for the heroic efforts of their medical teams. Both survived and now have life altering side effects that they are liviving with. This is also the narrative I care about and needs to be heard. COVID is real and it is a scary beast. Come back with your silly arguments if you have friends with permanent brain damage or other ailments that can now be avoided through getting two simple harmless shots. -
Canucks requiring covid vaccination for staff and fans
GB5 replied to cuporbust's topic in Canucks Talk
I am happy to hear this. Freedom involves cost so if those who invoke their so called freedoms by refusing to be socially responsible and get vaccinated then there is also a cost of not being able to participate in normal social activity. -
[Signing] Oilers re-sign Slater Koekkoek
GB5 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I thought so as well. Seems like they made a decent value signing for once. -
[Signing] Canucks re-sign Guillaume Brisebois
GB5 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
GB becoming more of an AHL veteran than a prospect these days. Still a solid depth player to have so happy to have him around for another year. -
[Signing] Oilers re-sign Darnell Nurse
GB5 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I like how Big Mac can get under Nurses skin and take him off the ice for 5 minutes at a time. Seems too easy and if Nurse deserves an elite paycheck then he should start showing elite discipline but he still.plays punk hockey imo. -
I used to be Tony playing street hockey as a kid.... or so I thought.. All the best to his family at this hard time.

[DEBATE] Which TEAM CANADA team are you taking?
GB5 replied to Elias Pettersson's topic in General Hockey Discussion
99 and 66 remembered for the slick passes on the goal but ducky won the draw to set it all up. And then we let some of those Rusdians be Canucks after that.
