  1. Burrows, always. There may be better players but there can only be one dragon slayer. Thanks for the memories.
  2. I guess the Crackers need someone that can play offense.
  3. Schenn was very solid in the playoffs this year, I was impressed with his poise. He would be a welcome addition imo.
  4. Ya I get that but I meant that perhaps he is not being qualified because they signed him before the deadline... Much like happened with Gaudette.
  5. Race to the bottom. Columbus vs Arizona edition.
  6. Does this mean that Ritchie has signed a contract then? Can't see the big guy being set adrift otherwise.
  7. Wow 7 pages in 3 hours, lots of interest in this. As a cap dump I would be happy if it is just that, Bruins take the contract for a late round pick or depth contract, Canucks sign a backup and have free space for a defenseman. win win!
  8. Great job on this. I think the forward group has come together pretty well already and not a lot of additions need to be done there. I would say #3 and #5 could/should be the same player to meet both demands. I don't put as much weight on adding a Russian player as some have as Podz could be set up with a Russian billet family and an off ice assistant or the like to help him adjust as well. I would add a number 6 to the list in that I would like to have Holtby and Schmidt's contracts offloaded to free up more free agency space.
  9. I selected other, aka fourth line centre by committee. There are a number of players who could play this role, many are listed in the poll but I would like to see someone step up and take the bull by the horns and win it outright. Who that is remains to be seen at this point.
  10. Call it what is is, a cap dump by the Canucks. Pretty hard to benefit much if at all with these moves other than by clearing out cap space and trying to not take too much back in return. Adding 10 million to the Flyers in cap and taking 4.8 back leave the Flyers with very little to sign their remaining free agents. They are short on players for their defense and backup goaltending and have several RFA's to consider so this may be a bit high of an ask. The Canucks would be surely needing to retain salary on Holtby and would not be getting a pick in return.
  11. This sounds about right to me.
  12. Jake gave us some exciting moments. Hopefully for his sake as well as others his life has impacted he can own his errors and grow as a person from them.
  13. #18? hmm that number is probably available for the Canucks.
  14. Faber gonna like this one too. He wrote about the player as a late rounder
  15. Wong is interesting. Small centre ranked much higher.
  16. Up until this puck the Canucks have been pretty conservative and only picking players who have played a lot.last season. Seems they must have liked this playerbenough to throw a 6th at him.
  17. Lockhart sounds like Garland 2.0
  18. Connor Lockhart (C) – Erie Otters Between the missed season and size concerns, Connor Lockhart has tumbled down draft boards (104th in North American skaters on NHL.com), but he isn’t exactly deserving of it. Although small, standing at only 5-foot-9, it’s entirely possible that he has grown since the layoff. Outside of his size, however, he is an exceptionally talented centerman who was likely due for a big season with the Erie Otters and could very possibly be one of the better players in the league when the puck does drop in October. Related: Connor Lockhart – 2021 NHL Draft Prospect Profile There’s no question that Lockhart’s specialty is the offensive zone. When it comes to this end of the ice, he excels in large part thanks to his shooting, skating, and creativity. It’s hard to judge exactly what you are going to get out of Lockhart, however. When looking at his tape, all you really have to rely on is his rookie season in 2019-20, a season where most players are getting acclimated to the league and can struggle to find consistent playing time and top-tier performance. Connor Lockhart, Erie Otters (Luke Durda/OHL Images) It’s more of a situation where scouts need to project into the future instead of thinking about what they have right here right now because we know virtually nothing about what Lockhart looks like right now. The word ‘nifty’ comes to mind with this player, and despite his low goal-scoring totals in 2019-21 (nine goals in 57 games), that number is going to climb exponentially in 2021-22. What might surprise some people is his willingness to play with an edge and mix in physicality when needed. Smaller players typically shy away from this sort of thing in their first year or two in the OHL, but Lockhart was never afraid to go into the corner hard and work for the puck. He’s an intelligent hockey player after all. In the defensive zone, however, he struggles. This goes for his positioning and his ability to make a crisp pass when needed. Whoever ends up drafting him can likely fix this issue with some work, but this could also just be down to being a rookie in an incredibly competitive league. “He will have almost certainly gotten stronger over the layoff, if not bigger as well,” said Dylan Galloway of FC Hockey. “If that’s the case it will be more likely that he can pull off similar plays against even bigger and stronger players as he progresses through the pro levels. His intelligence to read the defenseman, solid body positioning instincts, and the ability to finish the play with a pass to the slot area are great things to see from such a young player.”
