GB5 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Not really, this guy is an amazing athlete who will likely age well. -

[Report] Carey Price waives NMC for expansion draft
GB5 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Price is 33 and will be 38 when his contract expires. If I'm Seattle I take him and don't look back. The guy is an outstanding athlete, a freak of nature who by taking you can turn around and either play or turn around and extort Montreal for lots and lots of goodies if they want him back. -
I think the forwards are starting to shape up nicley on this team. I'd like to shift the focus on defense if there is money available to spend or trades to be made, especially on getting some shut down style players. And btw, I don't want a Domi on this team.

(Proposal) Oh Boy, JB working on huge deal with Columbus!!!!
GB5 replied to The King's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Are the sources mentioned and JB one and the same? Take it easy, it's still early in the day for this kind of stuff.... -
I say none of the above. The best coaches are those who play for a lot of coaches in the monir leagues and are up and down in the NHL throughout their careers. I can see Curtis Sanford becoming a great goalie coach for this reason.

[DEBATE] Which #27 in their prime are you taking?
GB5 replied to Elias Pettersson's topic in General Hockey Discussion
Sittler and Nieds are pretty close imo. I took Sittler but I may have some buyers remorse as Nieds was an awesome player in his own right. -
Shouldn't this be in the Abbotsford Canucks thread??

I like this trade for Nashville, both are good players but Patricks has had serious injury problems and I think Glass will be a top player but is a bit behind in development compared to fellow draft peers like Petey. I still think Glass is a hell of a player though, anytime I have seen him play he has looked strong on the puck and has a wicked shot and Nashville plays a good system that will help him to succeed.

[Report] Canucks won’t protect Kole Lind
GB5 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I have nothing bad to say about Lind, he is a great prospect who has got better every year and will likely make the NHL as a player. This expansion draft forces teams to make these tough choices and given this so be it, it could be worse I guess. Who knows, maybe the Kraken look elsewhere, I'm not sure who else the Canucks expose but Lind is not an NHL player yet so maybe the Kraken look for a roster player instead. -

I guess that the Canucks were bound to lose someone better than just Sbisa this time around..... -
[Trade] Canucks Trade for Dickinson from DAL for a 3rd.
GB5 replied to aGENT's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Nice, this is a player I have liked since his draft year. To me he is a Jannick Hansen style player, a Swiss Army knife that can play up and down the line up and get under other players skin and is a very good two way player. -
[Report] Alexander Edler to hit free agency
GB5 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Trade Edlers negotiation rights for Hymans negotiation rights. May end up with nothing at the end of the day but may get a player.... who knows. -
I don't think he started it, he was just not able to diffuse it or prove it wrong. Anyway, I do see Schmidt as a tradable asset given this team has a light defense with Hughes, Rathbone and Schmidt. I like this proposal as long as there could be a defensive defender coming cabck through some means, be it UFA or trade.
-
Actually a solid looking forward group providing they are able to average at least 85% of games played per player. I'd rather see Pearson bumped to the third line and find another top 6 forward but that may be too rich for the Canucks. The defense is lacking true shut down power and that will hurt them.

what did we gain by not re-signing any of Markstrom/Tanev/Toffoli?
GB5 replied to grouse747's topic in Canucks Talk
Unfortunately it wasn't just last year. The defense has been terrible for several years and last year was an attempt to get better. Hopefully this attempt continues. -
[DEBATE] Which DEFENCEMAN in their prime are you taking?
GB5 replied to Elias Pettersson's topic in General Hockey Discussion
This is a tough one because it depends a bit on the Era of play. I go Chara here though because he seems to transcend tome and everyone is afraid of the guy. He is a great defender with a bullet shot who wins hockey games so why not. -
Yes, yes and yes. In other words. Don't go full Milbury on us GMJB!!!
-
All in all I goota say I am happy with this. I would have went elsewhere with the name because to me a player has to earn the right to be a Canuck beyond playing on the farm team but I like that they went with the fan's choice of the Johnny Canuck logo.

we need to develop players and/or players we have need to play better.
GB5 replied to grouse747's topic in Canucks Talk
I think to be successful the Canucks need to score more goals than the other teams and try harder to win more games. What is the point of this thread again? -
[DEBATE] Which #11 in their prime are you taking?
GB5 replied to Elias Pettersson's topic in General Hockey Discussion
Owen Nolan because he could easily kick that others guy's (who's name I shall not mention) arse even with one hand tied behind his back. -
Ditto, I have a white one as well and it cleans up real nice
