  1. Interesting that Soderstrom appears to have grown a bit according the NHL combine weigh in Hockey Writers has him at; https://thehockeywriters.com/2019-nhl-combine-heights-weights/ Victor Soderstrom: Listed 5-feet-11, 179 pounds. Actual 6-feet, 182 pounds
  2. Both likely will make the NHL, if so that still qualifies a solid draft.
  3. Toronto can take their overpaid, afraid to block shots, low scoring, non-hitting Russian and suck it. Look away Canuck fans, look away!
  4. As I have previously recognized Gino, also a shout out to one of the toughest guys in the NHL, the man who KO'ed Bob Probert and had most of his best fights with New Jersey but also shook things up during some dark years with the Canucks, this is of course, Troy Crowder. Guys like Gino and Crowder never backed down from anyone Regarding the love for Brashear....he was not the best fighter, Brashear picked and chose his fights, especially near the end of his tenure with the Canucks, I remember Laroque chasing Brashear around the ice trying to fight and it was embarrassing watching Brashear back down. For me, that plus other examples tainted his legacy.
  5. I think team supplied hair product is the issue.....Brock wants the Canucks to buy it but the Canucks are telling Brock to buy his own. Pretty sure that's it.
  6. Gino wasn't just tough, he was scary tough...I vote for all of his fights. Honorable mention to Coxe vs. Probert, that was pretty epic.
  7. This has everything I like, ti me this works very well.
  8. I don't think the Canucks have a guy yet, They may like some players but not enough to commit to them Maybe after they do some interviews and understand the character of some of these guys they will but not yet.
  9. All is quiet in Canucksville today. No hirings no firings no trades or escapade, no signings, maybe some whitings. It is so quiet, I wonder what is brewing.
  10. I liked him too, I thought he battled well for this team but was often too battered and beat up come playoff time to be able to step up his game.
  11. Messier hands down Honorable mention to Duncan Keith Brad Marchand Marty McSorely As for the rest, all is forgiven.
  12. I don't know if there have been very many trades in the salary cap era where the shear volume of players going the other way gets the target player. The exception being when a notable star is traded then the return is at least a roster player a solid prospect and a top draft pick. This trade is not that. Gaudette has every sign that he will develop nicely into an excellent 3rd line centre or if he can play the wing, he may even develop into a top 6 player.
  13. I'm all for shaking things up, there are certainly a few of these guys mentioned in these trades that need a new home.
  14. I Subban is off the books in a few years then he is of no use to this team. A few years is when this team will be competitive again and that is when they should be considering trades like this.
  15. Defense is certainly a need for this team but so is more depth in the top 6-9 forward positions. My feeling is that this year does not have enough upside with the defensemen available at 10. I would take the topped ranked forward at 10. Be that Zegras, Boldy or Krebs. I think Cozens, Dach and Turcotte will be gone by 10 and I agree that Caufield does not have the top speed that smallish forwards need to be drafted at this position. I think Newhook is a bit of a darkhorse that could be boom or bust so I am not sure on him. My gut is that either one of Boldy, Zegras of Krebs will be there at 10. I would take whichever one is there.
  16. Great point. I don't recall GMJB ever mentioning Boesser, Petey or Hughes in pre-draft interviews. When Petey was selected, it appeared that Glass was the guy. I think the only time Benning ever alluded to drafting a player was when OJ was selected but there was still a player he liked better that was taken early.
  17. Absolutely, the only D I like at the 10 spot is playing for the Giants and he won't be available at that pick. The Canucks need upgrades at almost every position so the BPA is the way to go.

    Gretzky + Orr

Oh dear...where or where has this thread gone...back on track...Have some fun you guys who don't want to have fun. Petey's style is comparable to Gretzky, doesn't mean he is as good but has a similar style Hughes' style is more like Phil Housley, a smaller flashy smooth skating playmaker, he can't be like Orr because Bobby was also the toughest guy on the ice when he played.
  19. None of the above for me; I'd like them to move up in the draft though but moving down a spot or two may be more feasible and lucrative.

    Olli Juolevi | #48 | D

for sure, OJ is still a top level talent and it would be foolishly Mibury-ish to trade him prematurely.
  21. Losing Rome = something the Canucks could work around albeit, the long suspension was a bit defeating The cheap shot on Raymond = This should have been a suspension and it cost the team some secondary scoring and changed Raymond's career forever. The injury to Hamhuis =unfortunate and really hurt the team but was nobody's fault
  22. As over paid as he is, Eriksson is an excellent bottom 6 player who is good at penalty killing, forechecking and grinding in the corners. In contrast, Lucic only fights selfishly when someone hurts his feelings and takes bad retaliatory penalties, he's slower than molasses, has a higher cap hit and more term and could quite possibly be a cancer in the locker room. I know who I would rather have.
  23. With all this talk about Seider I was hoping to see him play this morning, looks like the only games on is Sweden/Italy....that said, I'm good "settling" for watching Dekey Pete anyday
  24. Lucic is such a selfish and undisciplined player, I don't want him.
  25. That's essentially my thoughts, that is, there may be top ten teams going for Broberg and Soderstrom allowing higher ranked forwards to fall to the Canucks. Frome around pick #6 or 7 to about 14 it is really anyone's guess
