I think they did OK with some of these guys.
Bourdon was developing nicely and would have been a player for this team for years to come.
Butcher was one of the meanest and toughest defensive d-men to ever play for the Canucks. Opposing players feared coming near the net when he was there, he also played 897 NHL games and was awesome.
If the Canucks keep the pick then Soderstrom offers the best bang for the buck but Caufield is enticing as well with his elite scoring abilities.
Although, the picks from around 6-14 are a bit of a crap shoot right now, I think there may be some teams going for the defensemen early on and the Canucks may have a higher ranked forward fall into their laps at #10
Swing for the fences GMJB....I don't care how or what picks/players (excluding #43, 40, 53, and 6), need to be traded but get that number one from NJ.
I'd like to see an epic Burky type move on the home court draft.
Binningham has too small of a sample size. I say it is still Petey's at this point but it will likely be a bit of a slimmer margin than at 2 months ago.
Absolutely but as much as I love Horvat and how he carries this team on his back, I'd like to seem him break out over the 50is point range.
I acknowledge though that he has been paired with sub par wingers for most of his career, if he could play with at least one other high scoring winger then maybe it would be better for him.
All in all, this team still needs a lot of help.
You get an upvote for that...
I'm not sure if he has that kind of talent but a lot of the better NHL d-men were taken in the second round so it is fair to dream.
Cozens for me.
I have seen him play and the guy is a competitor....maybe a bit in the mold of Getzlaf or some of the other skilled larger centers in the league.
I like the contrast to have a big skilled centerman to counter the lighter Pettersson, that would give a fairly balanced attack although if this were the case I could almost see Petey moving to left wing.
Pretty much, the Canucks still need at least one or more of every position so the BPA is ideal.
I really like Krebs but id one of the big centre (Cozens or Dach) are available then we should nab them. I have seen Cozens play and I like that he is the guy to have on the ice when the game is on the line.
I think Molino was used more because of a lack of depth at the time and a rash of injuries. Combine that with not wanting to upset the playoff push by Utica.
I agree that the AHL experience would be beneficial but I would respectfully disagree that he is borderline offensively. As a 22 yo player, he seems to be beginning to get his offensive game together...I think he will be just fine in this department.
I didn't see what you saw...
I agree that it seemed obvious in 2016 that Benning liked OJ but he also liked 4 others....he said there were about 5 players he liked with the pick and one included a franchise defenseman.
2017 the Canucks also brought in Glass and one other player...I don't recall who, it may have been Pettersson...Glass seemed to be who most commentators thought would be going to the Canucks.
2018 - It seemed that Dobson would be the guy....Hughes didn't really come up because he was supposed to go much higher.
