I wonder if this still means to Willie that Boucher has to wait for Rodin to get a chance to play first.
  2. Brock with a point but was a bit of an unfortunate -4 tonight. Looks like the team fell apart in the third and blew a 3-1 lead to lose 6-3

    Brendan Gaunce | C/LW

Yikes, that's a very bif estimation on a very little body of work. I didn't know his name was Brendan McCrosby Thing is, there is more to being part of a team than just putting up big numbers. Gaunce is a good player, just give it time, he is developing his games as is 75% of the other Canucks, he just needs to play.

Absolutely, as the old adage goes, Willie is obviously playing "not to lose" instead of "playing to win".

Hard work has made for many lengthy careers in the NHL.

Gaunce is awesome. He says the right things, doesn't whine and works very hard to do the right things. Problem is like I've been saying is that Willie seems to think that the team is better with two minor leaguers on the fourth line getting 6 minutes a game as opposed to helping to develop a player that has the potential to have an important role in the future with this team.
  7. It is great. I just hope they are patient and keep him there all year unless a coaching change is made and Green is brought up and brings Virt with him.

100% agree, I've always liked Gaunce and watch him closely, he is a very good player but coach Willie has a complete lack of vision for the fourth line. Gaunce is extremely tough in the corners, if he has some others players on his line that had any semblance of a hockey iq, things would be a lot better. I don't like seeing the AHL plugs on the 4th line. Chaput and Megna have been OK but the problem is that they are as good as they will ever get. Gaunce has a lot of upside so let him play. Once again, coach Willie has gone into damage control to try to save his job by either over playing some players or not playing others enough or at all.
  9. I wonder if they are saying this just to save face from being scratched to give Gunny a few games to re-find his game. Although it is difficult to see them playing Biega over Gunny.
  10. Very true, the best thing for Jake is to be far away from this team right now and just play.
  11. Watching this makes me wish even more that Virt can learn how to develop into a consistent professional. He looks like he has the makings of a dominant NHL'er, in this play he reminds me of Owen Nolan.

I hope not. As others have said, Gaunce is progressing very well. Eventually he will certainly move up in the lineup, even still, his work to date has been very good.

There's a PhillipBlunt hateful comment on the 4th page of the David Booth PTO post you need to get rid of and deal with the poster. I reported it twice and no action yet.

Hopefully as a moderator you can try to understand why it is hateful and has no place on a public hockey forum.

      @PhillipBlunt

Did you call David Booth, "Nero"?

      GarthButcher5,

Is this regarding David Booth killing Jesus and loving animals? That was merely a switcheroo of what I was quoting. While I think you are vastly overreacting, I'll let Stealth decide. If he wants me to remove it, I will.

Fact is Jesus was killed, if you believe in the Bible. I was raised Catholic and am well versed in how he was turned on and denied by supposedly close friends. I know the history and in no way do I consider it hateful. It doesn't mock Christianity at all. I don't devalue who Jesus was or what he stood for. He was righteous and fair. A peaceful guy who was woefully misunderstood.

It was stupid comment, not a hateful one.

  14. Kristian Vesalainen easily for me. I've seen him play first hand a couple times, he embarasses defensemen who try to handle him as he has a great combination of speed and strength and drives hard to the net with the puck

With Cracker gone I'm hoping for some more Gaunce and Grenier sightings at Canucks games
  16. Consensus was that there is not a generational talent like McDavid, Crosby, Gretzky but that it would be a very very deep draft.
  17. Ya but the big guy Gauthier plays for Canada.
  18. Ya I agree, as always it seems, anyway Jake's move before the goal to get into better position to anticipate where the puck would be going and to get into a position to score I thought showed some big league maturity.

I'd say Burrows has been pretty strong in that department, the biggest problem with net front presence is the mistimed shots coming in from the d.

    Anton Rodin | RW/LW

I'd say yes as long as his season is over in Europe all though it may depend on how long his contract is for. I only say this based in consideration that a couple years back Jensen played in Sweden and came to the AHL when his season ended. In fact, the Canucks blocked his Swedish team from trading him to a playoff team so he would come to the AHL.

Hard choices to make and hate to see these guys go but probably the right thing to do long term. Maybe a prospect could be gained in return as well instead of just draft picks who may be several years away.

    Ben Hutton | #27 | D

Hutton certainly is a different player so you are correct in that he is nothing like Bieksa but its pretty hard to dislike Bieksa, he loved the team, the city and the fans and played with a lot of heart. He did what he could to make up for any shortcomings with other intangibles.

Hatred is a strong word and it is very dishonest to put words in my mouth that I haven't said. The thing is when other players have actually shown that they have improved their play as opposed to a guy who gets every chance and chokes in key situations, I'd rather pay money to watch the guys that are showing improvement .
