[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
GB5 replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
If Bo goes then every player who can be traded should be traded. Only exceptions being Petey, Hughes, Demko and Podz. Gone as well should be Miller, Myers, Pearson (when healthy), Kuz (hate to see him go but a good return is warranted), OEL (likely not possible), Garland (if the price is right) and anyone else who can fetch a decent prospect and/or a second round pick or better. -
[Signing] Canucks re-sign J.T. Miller

For what it's worth Button was also pushing to trade Petey last year when he was struggling. -
Hopefully Bo stays but I do not trust this management team so I will comment. Schenn - is on an expiring contract, I like him as an option but unless he is extended then I say no as captain. Miller - seems polarizing to this team. He is great when the effort is there but is inconsistent most nights and is not a model of leading by example. Petey - is a good option of a player who leads by example, I don't really know how much other players pay attention to him but I see him as option for the future. OEL - is a no go for me, smart guy but doesn't bring it often enough, seems disinterested at times. Hughes - see Petey Lazar - option not mentioned. I do not see him as a stand alone captain but he is clearly intelligent and a leader and may be a considerable alternate captain once he returns from injury. For the time being I would prefer mixing the new guard with the old and having a committee of Petey, Hughes and Schenn as alternate captains and no designated captain. Eventually leading to Petey getting the C in a year or two.

For me it is the new management. They promised change and did not deliver anything other than excuses. Stating things like they are capped strapped and it is too hard to trade bad contracts do not cut it for me. These people were brought in to make a difference and find solutions which is not happening. All we have seen so far is an extension of GMJB's playbook. Trading a 3rd for Dermott, a second for Stillman and extending Miller and Boeser and signing IM for big a big cap hit are the same things Benning has been doing. Miller and Boeser should have been moved for cap space and to get younger and more picks. This should have happened at the draft. A second for Stillman is inexcusable. I accept the Dermott move because the pick traded was the return from Hamonic and Dermott has been injured but the management group have dug their own hole. All they did this season was to double down on last season's team. The defense needed fixing and this team seriously needs a big minute shut down defender and instead we get more forwards on big contracts and fringe defender brought in. Rutherford's criticism of the coaching is also unpalatable. Boudreau has an AHL defense to work with and has been hung out as a lame duck coach. Travis Green made things too complicated, too much structure and this team couldn't handle it, Boudreau tried to simplify, allow the guys to play but there is a broken core on this team. Time to start building from the net out, the same way other great teams are built. Move some core players, not named Bo, and reconstruct this team.

I think your response tops it...... based on the quality of your response I doubt that you were around during the era in question Lazy play, sulky attitude, not living up to a big contract, questionable leadership ... seems about right. Why makes you see a difference? -

The current #9 reminds me an awful lot of the former #11 of that era so I think you are right.
