  1. This is rather misleading as it values all picks from rounds 1 hrough 7 the same. According to this theory, if I traded 10 shiny brand new 100 dollar bills for 10 brand new shiny 100 peso bills I would be no worse for the wear However, even though I have the same amount of bills that have the number 100 on them the reality is I would be about 930 actual dollars poorer.
  2. Not to mention it looks like abou 15 or 16 players signed to NHL contracts meaning there will be spots to fill via the AHL, college UFA's or bargain bin free agents. Less players considering that at least two big contracts probably need to move in order to extend Petey and Hronek and accomodate Miller and Kuz'es raises kicking in
  3. I'm excited about some of these players but not all of them. To me Aman is a border line NHL'er who is too soft to be a legitimate bottom 6 center and needs to learn to stick up for his linemates and win a few faceoffs. Alvin likes his Swedes but the Canucks can improve a lot here. Lammiko actually had better stats than Aman as far as FO%, blocks, hits, points, takeaways......... Raty has a lot to prove still to show he can be in the big show, some are calling him a blue chip prospect but that is an underserved label. I hope he gets there but wait and see. Beau, Kravtsov and Kuz are definately exciting. Bloom is intriguing IM is a guy I am hopeful for once he recovers but wait and see, same wih Hronek. Bear has been servicable but is not overly exciting.
  4. To me the signal was getting sewpt in the first round by the Sharks in 2013 one year after bowing out in the first to LA. At that point the core was spent.
  5. That's the key right there. Draft picks are improtant in helping to stay competitive while not facing a cap crunch. If a team can work guys in like this and part ways with others at the right time while still maintaining their core then they should be all right. Canucks have traded a lot of draft picks in recent years, the Kuzemenko's of the world will not come along every year so need to have these guys ready to move in when the time comes. Canucks have a lot of prospects with NHL potential but very little in the way of blue chippers or even guys that could make a significant impact
  6. A perpetual race for the 8th and final playoff spot is their idea of victory. 2-3 home playoffs games gives Francisco more pleasure than his 5th wife.
  7. I get and share in this frustration. My problem is that despite the crappy ownership I still want this team to win. I think that they are making some really bad decisions but I also hope I am wrong because I want to cheer for this team. I do hope you get to see a cup win but certianly the way to send a message is buy not putting mioney towards the team.
  8. It's actually worth it for that reason alone... Get a couple free prospects from the college route. I think the Canucks ate around 46 or 47 contracts so freeing up another spot is a good move.
  9. SN puzzled by the Canucks direction.. I dont mind the Lazar trade but other than that, welcome to the club SN. Wonder what took them so long to that conclusion.
  10. Good guy but relatively easy to find another Lazar-ish player July 1. May as well get the pick but Canucks ate really thin at centre down the stretch. Aman works hard but hes not really NHL calibre imo.
  11. In typical Canuck fashion they traded a 1st and a 2nd for a injured player. Reminds me of the time we drafted JJ Daignaugt and he came down to the draft floor on crutches.
  12. Myers is a great team mate...He's teaching his moves to Brisbois here
  13. Entertaining game. I just hope they can cut back Hughe's minutes. He was too bagged at the end to chase down the loose puck in which Miller ended up with a penalty.
