[Signing] Flames sign Christopher Tanev
WonderTwinPowers replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
That escalated quickly lol -
This should almost help put an end to his FA rumours if there is any. He'd have to hold off on a huge payday from whenever his college season ends to whenever the NHL season ends, which may be past August. Seems like a high character kid anyways so I doubt this is his plan, but it would definitely factor into his decision if he did want to leave.

I wonder if they push back some of these deadlines with everything going on. The season could still be going. I don't think they'd let our prospect just sign with another team mid season.

[Signing] Hurricanes sign Jake Gardiner

I was open to signing either of them truthfully. I just know everyone will say we should have saved the 2 mill and taken Gardiner as if it was ever really an option we had. -

Can't wait for the "should have signed Gardiner" threads -
The coach said he'd be a big piece of their team as long as he's healthy and available

Plus eventually Roussel comes back for even more sandpaper, if only we still had Dorsett that fourth line would be a nightmare. And unless he's waived you wonder where Loui Eriksson fits.

[Signing] Canucks sign Micheal Ferland

I have no idea what that other guy is talking about. Does that AAV factor in his bonuses he's hit? -

I think the biggest problem with a 2 year contract would be having to reup EP QH and BB all in the same year. I'd say it needs to be a 3 year term minimum. But yeah he's not signing for under 6.5 I'd imagine even in a bridge scenario. -
[Signing] Blues sign Derrick Pouliot

They realize just because it worked for MDZ doesn't mean it'll work annually right? -
Petey 2.0 confirmed

If players learn through adversity than Mikey will be an expert after dealing with the WJC and now this. Hard for him now, but it'll likely make him mentally stronger going forward
-
I don't believe in curses, but the Canucks in general test that belief annually.

2019 NHL Draft Lottery | April 9th, 5:00pm PT
WonderTwinPowers replied to Roberts's topic in General Hockey Discussion
Apparently we need to get Taylor Hall if we ever want a 1st overall -
Tyler Motte played on a fairly stacked team though didn't he? Other than QH and Josh Norris, who's missed basically half the season, there aren't very many high pedigree guys on Michigan this year. As for the comparison part, I see a lot of the good qualities Matt Cooke had in his early days as a Canuck. The fiesty attitude, with good two way play.

Here's hoping this finally sinks in, I can't keep buying you beers like this
-
That fact it's 33 goals and 22 assists in the one season he spent with the sedins is now one of my new favorite things lol
-
Interesting, you'd think every player would have this discussion at the end of the year. So maybe not huge news. Hopefully at least 1 more NCAA season imo

18 year old Marner was a 4th overall pick, who doesn't even play the same position. There's so many better comparisons out there to make. This just seems like grasping at straws to compare him to a superstar, but you do you.

It hurt JV to put on that much weight. He was slower and less conditioned. He seemed genuinely tired near the end of games and was barely playing. He probably will add some weight throughout his career. But he's likely not coming back from one summer with 20 lbs of muscle. Much of it would be fat more than likely. And could hurt his chances of making the team next year if he can't keep up in camp.

On top of that I've read this injury has affected him for the last 2 years or so. And they just finally decided to remedy it once and for all.
