  2. https://www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2021/09/17/1038374005/experts-advising-fda-vote-against-pfizer-covid-booster Experts Advising FDA Vote Against Pfizer COVID Booster In a preliminary vote, a panel of advisers to the Food and Drug Administration recommended against approval of a booster dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for people 16 years and older. The meeting is continuing and there may be another vote on boosters for a limited age group. In any event, the vote against the booster, which would be given about six months after completion of the two-dose immunization regimen, complicates any FDA decision on Pfizer's application. The agency typically follows the advice of its advisory committees, though it isn't required to. The administration said in August that it planned to make booster shots available during the week of Sept. 20. That announcement was controversial because it came before the FDA had weighed Pfizer's application and before the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's own panel of experts on immunization practices could consider the need for boosters. The rise of the highly infectious delta variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and some evidence that the Pfizer vaccine's protection wanes against infections with time are two of the factors that were cited in support of a booster. But presentations Friday generally showed the vaccine was still effective in protecting immunized people against severe illness, hospitalization and death in the U.S. Separately, however, an analysis published Friday in CDC's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report found that the Pfizer vaccine's protection against hospitalization with COVID-19 dropped from 91% during the 120 days after vaccination to 77% later than that. Over the course of the meeting, speakers from FDA, Pfizer, CDC, Israel and the U.K. presented data on the state of the pandemic, experience with the Pfizer vaccine and lab tests. The most direct support for the Pfizer booster came from laboratory work and a small clinical study done by Pfizer that involved a little over 300 people. "The difficulty for the committee is that you're making incredibly important policy decisions very rapidly in a situation of uncertainty," said Jonathan Sterne, a statistician from University of Bristol who made a presentation to the panel.
  3. Anyone saying it's against their religion to take the vaccine, they should prove it. Never mind the fact that the Catholic Church has approved its use. Then mention that there are a ton of medications that used fetal cell lines in testing or development. I even think Ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine were as well. https://www.kark.com/news/health/coronavirus/arkansas-hospital-lets-staff-seek-vaccine-exemption-as-long-as-they-dont-use-other-meds-tested-on-fetal-cell-lines/ Arkansas hospital lets staff seek vaccine exemption, as long as they don’t use other meds tested on fetal cell lines

  7. 5 - 11 will be early October. I have a feeling that Health Canada will follow shortly thereafter. By the time kids shots are able to get in arms, it will be almost a year since shots have been given to adults in the general public. Months since shots had been given to minors 12 - 16. That is a lot of safety data that parents of under 12s can use to make an informed decision. https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/572385-pfizer-plans-to-seek-covid-vaccine-authorization-in-november-for-kids-under Pfizer plans to seek COVID-19 vaccine authorization in November for kids under 5
  8. Early in the year, Canada increased the interval between doses to get as many single doses as possible. It wasn't until supply increased that the intervals were decreased to the 28 days they are now.
  9. Here's an example of a soft mandate (New York). Die from Covid and are unvaccinated, you family loses out of benefits. Wouldn't be supprised if insurance companies adjust their policies going forward. https://www.thecity.nyc/2021/9/12/22667777/no-covid-death-benefit-for-unvaccinated-mta-bus-subway-workers MTA Yanks $500K COVID Death Benefit From Unvaccinated Transit Workers
  10. Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said the requirement will come into effect on Oct. 26 and will apply to everyone who works in these settings, including students, physicians, residents, contractors, volunteers and all other health-care professionals. It also applies to people who work in home and community care locations, including client homes. Health officials had previously announced a vaccine mandate for workers in long-term care homes. Workers who are not vaccinated in any long-term care or health-care facility will be placed on unpaid leave. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/covid-update-sept13-1.6173852 COVID-19 vaccines to be mandatory for workers in all health-care settings in B.C. 3rd doses will soon be administered to people with severely compromised immune systems

  12. No. The people whose heads are lodged are the ones pushing Ivermectin like it is some wonder drug for the treatment of Covid. There are clinical trials underway to try and demonstrate, one way or the other, if Ivermectin is a safe and effective treatment for Covid. Until those studies are completed, it is against common sense and protocol for medical professionals to push this drug. Is there anecdotal evidence supporting Ivermectin as a Covid treatment. Possibly. In the real world, anecdotal evidence means jack squat. Until you get the proper clinical trial data, you or I cannot say one way or the other if Ivermectin is a valid treatment. There is no conspiracy here.
  13. Yes, but there hasn't been a thorough clinical study completed as of yet that indicates Ivermectin is an effective and safe treatment. The manufacturer, Merck, even says this. It isn't an FDA approved or emergency approved treatment for Covid, unlike Regeneron, monoclonal antibodies, Remdesivir. So, anyone taking it, including the prescribed version that Joe obviously took, is grasping at straws. That is why there are tons of hogs out there trying and taking the animal versions and why Joe promoting Ivermectin is dangerous, even if he took the human version. If I had to guess, it wasn't the Ivermectin that made Joe better. Hell, he probably would have been OK without even taking anything. My money would be on the elements of the TRUMP treatment that he took. If I had Covid, I'd be asking to mainline the TRUMP treatment. No need for the horse paste.
  14. For those who seem to only post videos. It's about Covid treatments featuring hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin. Unlike the usual tinfoil, potholer lists his sources in the description of his videos.
  15. Triage is a thing. Also, it's rationed in the US of A as well. Deductibles, copays and out of pocket costs bankrupt many middle class families there. For profit health care has its warts as well.
  16. Triage noun (in medical use) the assignment of degrees of urgency to wounds or illnesses to decide the order of treatment of a large number of patients or casualties. "a triage nurse" verb assign degrees of urgency to (wounded or ill patients). "victims were triaged by paramedics before being transported to hospitals" It is my opinion that unvaccinated people (medically exempt people being the exception) should be assigned lower priority. I'm not sure if they should be assigned priority similar to someone who needs a knee replacement, but it is my opinion that it isn't that far off.
  17. Sadly, one of the things I think we're gonna see this weekend are a bunch of the tinfoil hatters bringing up long debunked truther fantasies that have circulated pretty much since the towers fell. Damn this comment. Man, I wish the military industrial complex wasn't able to easily sway politicians and the media. So many unnecessary deaths and destruction. Freedom Fries!

  19. Here's something from Alabama. Love this bit: As of Aug. 30, more than 173 million people nationally have been fully vaccinated against COVID with 0.01% of them, some 12,908 people, requiring hospitalization due to a breakthrough infection, the CDC reported. Of those who were hospitalized, 70% were ages 65 and older with 87% of deaths in that age group. https://www.al.com/news/2021/09/vast-majority-of-vaccinated-covid-patients-at-uab-are-immunocompromised-hospital-says.html?utm_source=reddit.com ‘Vast majority’ of vaccinated COVID patients at UAB are immunocompromised, hospital says
  20. The results for their 5 - 11 trial should be released this month. They also plan to request approval for 6 months to 2 years old later this year. I'm guessing 2 years to 4 years as well. https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/biontech-seek-approval-soon-vaccine-5-11-year-olds-spiegel-2021-09-10/?utm_source=reddit.com BioNTech to seek approval soon for vaccine for 5-11 year olds-Spiegel
  21. Since we're talking about school. Their deadline is Jan. 10. With approval for 5-11 year old children upcoming, I wonder if they will expand the mandate for the younger children by spring break??? https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/los-angeles-public-schools-set-approve-vaccine-mandate-students-12-n1278815 Los Angeles public schools approve vaccine mandate for students 12 and older "Our goal is to keep kids and teachers as safe as possible and in the classroom," board of education member Nick Melvoin said.
