  1. Brian, who was your favorite Canuck defenseman while you were in charge of the team (plus anecdote please)?
  2. Which game was this then? The one we just won? You kinda wipe out your good conclusions with your 'hopelessly outplayed' thing. We're on a roll Mrwipeout, Cheers!
  3. This, is as Don Cherry used to say, a beauty. All you "Fire Benning" people really want to lose JB? None of you get paid for your opinions. Jim lays it all out on the line for the team (and has assembled a tantalizing squad imo). Franco pays the tab and stays the course. I mean, this crap like 'his hands are tied", et cetera, give me a break. We've got a good team here (and Jim Benning built it). I am excited to seeing our team play every upcoming shift.
  4. Do we save cap space somehow when players like Travis with big contracts don't actually "count" on the roster? If so, and we are in a transition phase, maybe Hamonic "stays down" on these days when we aren't even playing? Or is it just the fan in me that sees light at the end of the tunnel, and our team winning (and beating the excrement out of everybody else - dino talk), can do no wrong, etc? Could explain keeping Travis down..?
  5. I don't know anything (no nothing, nothing at all)(forget the band..)(Hoodoos?) However, to those wanting hulks on D, which is ok, but imo, we need the beef on the wings. That way, when these 4th, 5th liners go apescrape on a perve like Bradiot Marshratass, we don't end up short-handed on D. When Pat Quinn (my fave) was running the show, we had a veritble plethora (ha ha 4 me) of seriously dangerous wingers, and some depth centers that nobody performed sex upon either! Back in the day, mngt would sift thru all the minor leagues for guys who could, you know, wink, wink, say no more, with just a tap on the shoulder pad, GO! Sorry, reminiscing, point is, imo its ok to go for offense on D, because the real disciple should be delivered from the wing.
  6. Today, teams are forced to decide which, and how many, of their players are going to require extremely high contracts. I believe the big contracts for older players with great performance records will be signed by GMs who have not adjusted to the realities of the times. Look at Karlsson for example, which GMs are going to sign older players to contracts like that anymore? They are going to need the cap space to sign (and thereby keep) their young stars or they will sit out and/or wait for the first opportunity to walk. With the flat cap and minimal increases in the next few years, nobody except dinosaur GMs have any interest in paying big bucks for past performances.
  7. I disagree. Tanner does everything quite well and in a good sized bod. I hoped we would get him in his entry draft and was disappointed we lost out. Good career, good guy, completely professional, etc. I like Jake, as I said, but he has a ways to go to be equal to Pearson, imo. You could make a case that he should be on the third line perhaps, but who do we have that could bump him down, and be a completely reliable, know-what-you're-going-to-get-every-shift pro?
  8. Remember the Rat skating around our barn kissing his Champianship ring? We should have that on a loop while the Nux are coming out onto the ice, Sound system getting louder and louder "Head out on the highway" Picture of Rat Boys Beaked Bean rolling around on Hwy 1. (Steppenwolf)
  9. Whipped pussies. I hope Schenn can stay in the lineup. He lays down the law. I think he needs to lay down the law in the room. "No more turning away from your teammates, or answer to me yourselves."
  10. Tanner's all-pro; no way you give him up for DeBrusk, and I like Jake.
  11. The lowest paid Canuck. And not a defenseman. I'll go check CapF, yup. Lammikko or Chiasson @ $750,000 / 82 x 5 = $45,731.70. I like Lammikko more, so let's start a GoFundMe for Chiasson - Rat Slayer! Might do better than the 50/50. Wonder what ref would have the balls to take half the money and not call the penalty, letting the DOPS decide if it was good for the game, or...
  12. Let's just say you didn't wear your 'dress shoes' to the game if you'd ever been there before (don't mention the aroma). They were even worse at concerts.
  13. Yep, wait 'til the game started and get standing room only cheap when the scalpers were dumping tickets. Then move on down to center ice and shuffle down if the Richies showed up. Actually, they were mostly corporate season ticket seats, so they were very often up for grabs.
  14. What might have been the worst was always having to wait until Montreal (spit, spit) or Toronto (gag, puke) finished up and they finished their post-game stuff back east. We'd listen on the radio and curse the CBC.
