I don't really say how duct taping the game will help, but I've got a Costco size roll handy if needed. GO BO GO (It's good to get mad.) -
Canucks have improved each of the last few games and played very well against Colorado. (We have to do something about these Canuck-Killing Referees!) Big boy pants, work gloves, protective equipment, bad attitude, and give 'er every shift. Take no excrement but dish it out big time. Petey looked much better last game and they finally played like a team. Hamonic back has helped a lot. I think we're gonna win this one. Winnipeg's sleeping on us. Breakout game for Canucks. Demmer with the shut, and 4 point game for Hughes. Go Bo Go

I find it difficult to believe Elias would purposely sabotage his team at all, nor intentionally play poorly. There is no doubt however, that he is not playing very well, sometimes looking lost (and alone?) out there. I too have been wondering about his deployment v/v to Boeser's and Bo's and Miller's, on the powerplay. Pettersson almost always shoots and this may be because he is being shunted out of the action, possibly even told to shoot, shoot, shoot. Miller and/or Bo are usually on or around the left side of space out front, and the 4 PP (other than #40) circle the puck. Petey's stick is usually where the circling stops; and it tends to be him by himself against all the PKers. He's got a great shot, so I can see him being encouraged to use it, but he is also a great passer, and has moves that leave ankles broken. He's not a guy like Brett Hull who would just stand there and blast it, but he is too stationary, imo. So, that's my take on what it's like. Now I'm going to try to fit what you are saying into that. Assuming say Miller is trying to maximize his next contract by accumulating as many points as he can, maybe, maybe he is shutting Petey out. There are only 2 assists and 1 goal on each score to go around; he may be trying to make sure he gets (perhaps more than) his share. Is that about it? I mean, is that close to what you mean? I have had to pass over the triggering words: predator, victim, etc., because I assume you are not talking about sexual matters. ******** ************************ ********* End of Canucks Talk ********* Start of personal Swedish upbringing stuff ********** Swede's and fighting, my story. We boxed when I was young, later I studied martial arts and weaponry. I skipped a couple grades, so I was always the youngest kid in class, and that kid all the dummies hated, especially the ones who had failed a couple grades. I always lost. At first. Then I gradually became adept at countering and could usually come up with something to stop a beating. (I found more moves from judo that were effective than the boxing for kids' fights; knock 'em down and then go in, although a sharp jab to the nose almost always worked too). My Swedish-descent dad (born in Saskatchewan, parents both Swedish from Minnesota, their parents from Sweden), would stand and watch me lose a fight. Arms crossed, stern look, no interference until I got the upper hand, then he would stop the fight. I was always mad at him for that, especially as it usually involved me taking a few before I could counter effectively. He had a lot of rules for that sort of thing and some of them were downright bizarre, at least to me, so he and I would argue; that went on until I was about 30. -Never start a fight, ever. -Never hit anyone. -Put your pride in your pocket. And, what do you make of this? "Remember, we are little people." That one always messed me up. Oh yeah, and, "Shut up, keep your mouth shut, don't speak until spoken to, etc., etc. You reap what you sew. And he reaped a rebellious teenager; I left home at 14. Couldn't make it on my own, but eventually got away when I was 15 -16. There was lots of love in the family. But dad and I locked horns all the time. He liked toeing the line, Richard Nixon, and the establishment. I went my own way against authority, thoroughly enjoyed the destruction of Tricky Dicky (except the Ford pardon), and eventually started my own businesses rather than have anyone as my boss. Sorry if this went on too long for you. (But you asked, lol.) Heja Sverige! (Thanks for that; I heard Mattias Ohlund (my favorite Canuck defenceman) say it once after being asked how, and my (Swedish-descent) buddy and I went around saying it for years, still do, lol, but did not know how to spell it.)
-
Thanks Timrafan, that is much more clear to me. So you think Miller is 'abusing' Pettersson to increase his own value in a new contract. (In English, predator, victim, abuse, are terms usually reserved for more serious issues, like sexual misconduct, for example.) Or perhaps someone else, perhaps Quinn with his invitation to stay with Brady and himself while waiting out their new contracts. It is an interesting take, and I have to go check for flood damage; I will get back to you in an hour or so (hopefully). By the way, you have opened another can of worms by asking me about Swedes shying away from conflicts. I can go into that too, later today. Thanks again, Hey Sverige! (Did I do that right?)
-
Please don't take offense, I do not understand your post. (My dad was Swedish and this reminds me of his dad's broken English, which I had to wait for, until after leaving, to get an explanation of what he was saying.) What do you mean? - Petey is an easy victim for a predator? - Someone using him as a step ladder in some way? - That process is something he should have been through? - Seems it happens now with the Canucks? Just woke up, so maybe I'm just foggy after a soaking wet night.

Jeez, the cuts we've had to make the last few seasons, Tanev, Marky, Gadj, MacEwen, Virtanen, Gaudette, must be more, I am forgetful. Now, we may have to lose more if it is a player issue that can be solved this way. I kinda like Alf's idea in a way, you know, starve them and then lock em in a room and throw in a steak; aka a Players' Only Meeting. We are asking them to stand up for each other, maybe they need a better idea of who is the real boss in the room. (Obviously, I do not know.)

Will would be deadly with Motter.

I backed this up and looked at it a few times on the pvr (not that that does us any good here). To me, it looked like Petey was trying to justify something and Brock shook his head and looked away. Another episode prior to that Horvat and Miller were working together on the tablet and looked to me like they were in agreement and moving forward. A third thing that has me wondering if "It" is Pettersson is the weird stuff that came out during his contract negotiations. He kinda said he only wanted the 3 year deal because he wanted to win, and would make a decision whether to resign with Vancouver at the end of this contract v/v the next contract. (I mashed that up, but I hope you get what I mean.) Last, I saw Miller talking several times with multiple Canucks who were grouped around paying rapt attention. Green was right there and did not interfere, has given JT an "A", and a heck of a lot of ice time. To my sleuthing, "It" is Pettersson, who consistently seems to do the opposite of the right thing at decision time. To my mind this is "It", but to my heart, which is breaking, I cannot believe Petey would act like this, and hope to helll I am dead wrong.

'This' is here. The moment the decision went to drop a franchise into Vegas, all doubts were off (to mangle an old coin). Follow the money. Hint: It is in the USA, and the Cleaned Cash is in Vegas. -

Yup, and nice 'do' Kenny. To the point, JT may be a problem, who are we to say? Nice 'problem' to have though. Top line player, ranked and respected in the league, experienced++, Cup winner, at a seriously undervalued contract. We should have such problems. Thing is, do we want to use him while we've got him? Or do we trade him (for all those good reasons above, plus more perhaps) and get something for the future? Because, it will be difficult to trade JT for something that could help us, more than the loss of JT would hurt us, if we do it now. Therein lies the rub, to quote some other old guy. Imo, we are still good enough now, to take advantage of the talent and contracts we have now, to grow this team. Others obviously think differently. -

It comes from only having a couple channels (back when you had to get up to change the channel). The 2 US stations were both from Seattle, King and Komo (is that right?). Then I fell for a couple players, Steve Largent for example. Way better than Vancouverites who loved the Coil and that skinny kid, what's his name again?
