  1. Revenge is best eaten cold. And the message to be sent once your star has been attacked is not to go after Lewis, but to run one of their stars. In the regular season, there is often plenty of time to send the message. In the playoffs, there is far less time to establish parity yet the outcome of the game is very much more important. I would still be in favour of cashing in by receiving the power play at that moment. But before the period is over, somebody better get a hurt real bad. Agree that we need more push-back (and wish we could get Nikita back). Come on JB, nobody wants a wussy team. Yeah, we can fill out the roster with bigger bodies once we draft/develop our stars. We also need some guys for now who keep the other teams "honest".
  2. Game Day thread had this (with a note about EP being in the country): So you Nux Fans back east should practise this chant, and greet EP with it every chance you get:
  3. Swedes seem to be saying: Lee-Uss or Lee-Ass. (Like 'Lias.)
  4. Depends who you are. Ex-President George W. Bush graduated from both Yale and Harvard. “There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again.” "Thu Interweb thing." "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful," he said, "And so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people," he continued, "And neither do we." Even more disturbing is the fact that he was reading from prepared text.
  5. Good stuff again (and again, and again, and again) Sid; what would we do without you? Thank you very much for keeping up on all our prospects.
  6. You are correct, however I doubt the dinosaur media types will ever get it right. (I have heard "Shoan" instead of "Shawn".) Also, (using your phonetic format from the above) his first name is pronounced: Lee. Ass. (Not Ell. Eee. Ass.) I still miss Jim Robson...he used to make sure he pronounced players' names the way they wanted them pronounced. Maybe Cheech (John Garrett) could lead the way, Queen's graduate in (English) Language and Literature that he is.
  7. There is not a GM in the league that would even consider insulting Guddy with that offer.
  8. We have to back-fill by position due to inuries. We want to see Goldobin, so look down the right side to see who could come out. Jake? I dunno, might just snap his low confidence into a real problem. Brock? Maybe if he really does need a rest, but otherwise, it would be a shame to take out our top offensive threat. Vanek? Has worked himself into an important part of the team but can play either wing. Eriksson? Has finally started to find his stride but can also play either wing. Personally, I would sit Gaunce but TG seems to really like him, and he does some of the things Sutter would be doing. So I think it is poor Jake that will sit tomorrow for Goldy to get in. I understand that people think Gagner or Burmistrov should sit out, and they may be correct. I'd really like to see Jake stay in with a pair of linemates that can (almost) keep up with him.
  9. Please don't ever post anything like this again. Last time we got 10 pages of crap.
  10. I get something like, "from Kaskinen's comments, Palmu in a blanket". (For whatever that's worth.)
  11. Still putting up points and has put on some weight too:
  12. Just posted it in another thread, but perhaps Dorsett is not returning any time soon..
  13. Vanek Burmi Goldy would be a very good deployment, imo. Vanek is bringing a lot of leadership as well as top talent, physicality, and effectiveness.
  14. I was not comparing those two (Burmistrov and Gagner). I like Burmistrov's game (more than Gaunce's). Burmistrov is in at centre for Sutter; nothing to do with Goldovin. Gagner's goal production is still disappointing but he is involved with the play and seems to get under opponents' skins. He is also very good at puck possesion, keeping it in the zone on the power play, for example. He plays a pro game and the alternatives (Jake, Gaunce, and Goldovin) are still finding their way. Goldy will get in and deserves a look, and I really hope he sticks, like Igor and Comets' management seem to think he will. He has lots of talent, has worked on the defensive side of his game, and is a positive spirit that I hope fits in with the team a little better than in the past. I really like Green's player deployment. He has made a lot of moves I did not understand until I saw the results. And he has made all four lines effective, so I don't think Goldy needs "top 6 minutes". He just has to do like the other rooks, that is show that he belongs full-time in the NHL.
  15. Burmistrov is probably in for Sutter at centre, a position Goldobin cannot fill. I used to dislike the Gagner acquisition and his first few games were less than impressive. But I am pleasantly surprised with how physical and abrasive he is for his size and he is excellent defensively and offensively on the power play. Goldy will get his chance, what with Igor and Utica management promoting his progress. When he does get in the lineup, I think it will be Jake or Gaunce in the pressbox; maybe Tuesday vs the NYI.
  16. Both Burmistrov and Gagner have been effective, imo.
  17. Can you guys take this tank argument somewhere else?
  18. I just had to bump this. I can't get it out of my head. "Elias is our idol!" Thanks for posting.
  19. I get that, but searching for it and playing it again was quite a bit of fun, so here it is.
  20. I do not know if you are referring to a clip at the draft when JB said something like, "Why isn't anybody taking Kole Lind?" It was around pick 20 if I recall correctly (and then, of course, we picked Lind early in the 2nd round).
  21. I think you have drawn incorrect conclusions because you generalize a large group of diverse fans to be characterized by a few outspoken individuals. The fanbase is not "incredibly bipolar", imo; some are loud "Chicken Littles" and some are loud homers, and the rest are the huge majority that fall between these extremes. Both tend to be quieter when it becomes more difficult to maintain their positions, each in their turn. I do not believe that it is individual fans changing their minds about everything Canuck every time circumstances change. The same goes for accusing the fanbase of being "bandwagoneers"; I for example, have not ever jumped off the bandwagon and there are many more like me than the media leads us to believe. We are Canucks fans and we are great fans.
  22. To add to this, I think Salo said something like, 'defensemen have to find the open forward and not just pass it back to, or across to, their defense partner', in that clip where he was with the Canucks at camp and talking generally but also specifically about Olli. Since then I have noticed which D move the puck up to an open forward and which are merely bailing to their partner.
