Ah c’mon, lawyers had no interest in this claim decided by ex-lawyers. I have to confess that I willingly bought the software as opposed to their competitors and that I bought it because I thought it was a better deal. By the way, does anyone know who administers this program and what they will manage to gain by it? If it wasn’t for Microsoft going into the propaganda business, I would never have considered applying for this claim, but now I want to deprive them of every nickel possible.

Point well taken. I was merely trying to find a little irony in the situation for the purpose of humor, and don’t mind a bit that I find myself the butt of some in turn. To quote from “The Count of Monte Cristo” - “King’s to you.” At least actually at the moment, but not historically. Canada is a parliamentary democracy with a titular only monarch. The monarch has no actual power. As for Austria, Germany, Italy, and two thirds of France, they were ruled by effective monarchical leaders as recently as the Second World War- remember der Fuhrer and ‘Il Duce’? And those guys the people actually voted in to rule them. I don’t believe Canada has ever had that situation until the advent of this plague - Canada has always been a parliamentary democracy, but that is not true of Europe. As for Switzerland, it is: “Switzerland, officially the Swiss Confederation, is a collection of semi-autonomous cantons. As membership of the confederation has fluctuated throughout history, each of these cantons has its own unique history and nobility. Typically, each canton had its own constitution, currency, jurisdiction, habits, customs, history, and nobility.” per Wikipedia.

Wow! He could be the only Canuck to wear a big S instead of marine mammal on the front of his jersey, and lead the team in scoring. In order to minimize embarrassment to skaters in the league, the league would be forced to count his goals scored as negative goals against... it could happen...

A replacement for Tanev doesn't have to be exactly Tanev, he could be someone that brings a different blend of talents to the mix - for instance, there is Tryamkin who is now well seasoned in the second best league in the world. Or we could go mobility and transition with Rafferty.

Yep, time to double down on scouting and development. Maybe the NHL can start drafting some third world kids who have never seen a piece of ice any bigger than one that can be pictured on a cel phone.

Is stuffing sardine cans a European thing? I guess you have to get used to the European acceptance of royalty and their opinion that peasants and their armor are much larger in reality than when viewed from far behind the line of battle.

There will be a lot of diminished expectations or unexpected unemployment as salaries can't keep accelerating when you have a fixed pie to work with. I don't want to name any players, but as Luongo once lamented his huge deal of the day, so will many other older, too rich veterans come to regret their rich deals - this will become an increasingly young man's league and the teams that draft and develop the best will prevail. Jim, please don't give away any more draft picks when you are so good at selecting premium talent that has been undervalued... unless you can find another Miller!

It amazes me how many people on CDC have written off our later round picks as of no value, so glad that McDonough has not come to that conclusion and sees his life as worth fighting for. - so happy for people who have an independent sense of self-worth.

I thought Brisbois was further along defensively than Juolevi, but then he is more experienced, but Juolevi likely has the higher top end granted that he is healthy. I think the start of the season Granted no injuries I think we are likely to see: Hughes Schmidt Edler. Myers Juolevi. Benn At season start, unless one of the young guys blows the doors off. Since Benn couldn’t hold a spot last season, I think he’ll be cycled out and Rafferty and a Chatfield cycled in on the right side- depending on whether Green wishes to emphasize pure defence or peck movement and transition. If Juolevi doesn’t grab the job or if there is an injury on the left D, we’ll see Rathbone on the left side. If the young guys prove out, Indon’t think Benn will see much play. Club needs require the development of their young D - especially for cap requirements - not only do we have a flattened cap from COVID, but we have upcoming big contracts for Demko, Pettersson, and Hughes and the room has to come from somewhere.

[Signing] Canucks re-sign Jalen Chatfield
Ray_Cathode replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Oh, was missing practicing some grammar nazism, so I just thought I’d compliment someone for getting it right. As for resigning, that’s what some bosses do when they hire enough bad professionals athletes. -
Quinn Hughes is an amazing, elusive player, but count on him getting run a lot this year, having someone like Tryamkin available when teams start running Hughes could be interesting. Some top pairing minutes during such circumstances wouldn’t disappoint Tryamkin either, I imagine... even if it comes with some additional responsibilities.

Happy news, if true. Our cap situation should be sorted by then, and that would be a great time to add some physicality.

Shame about Boucher, hard to shed that reputation once earned. He turned into a pretty decent penalty killer in his last couple of years in Utica and a solid plus player, ppg guy both in Utica last year and currently with Omsk in the KHL. Too bad he didn’t take defensive responsibilities seriously during his shots in the nhl.

He can redact the Eriksson with felt marker, Hoglander’s outrageous play will tell us who he is - I don’t think he’ll be mistaken for Louie.

Re the title of this thread - I am so pleased to read that Chatfield did not resign, and that he in fact re-signed. Thanks Vintage. -
I think you underestimate how badly Europe is doing: https://www.upi.com/Top_News/World-News/2020/12/06/Europe-leads-continents-in-COVID-cases-deaths-per-capita-infections-pass-67M/4701607264618/

I didn’t, but I do remember Keller’s early career: (tables from hockeydb.com: Regular Season Playoffs Season Team Lge GP G A Pts PIM +/- GP G A Pts PIM 2000-01 USNTDP Under-18 Team NAHL 56 7 21 28 40 -- -- -- -- -- 2001-02 USNTDP Under-18 Team NAHL 10 5 6 11 4 -- -- -- -- -- 2001-02 U.S. Junior National Team USHL 13 5 5 10 10 -- -- -- -- -- 2002-03 Ohio State University CCHA 40 11 20 31 44 4 2003-04 Manitoba Moose AHL 33 3 8 11 29 -4 -- -- -- -- -- 2003-04 Vancouver Canucks NHL 28 2 3 5 16 -2 -- -- -- -- -- 2004-05 Manitoba Moose AHL 78 30 28 58 105 22 14 4 5 9 8 2005-06 Vancouver Canucks NHL 82 10 13 23 79 1 -- -- -- -- -- 2006-07 Vancouver Canucks NHL 48 6 10 16 40 1 1 0 0 0 0 2007-08 Vancouver Canucks NHL 80 21 16 37 79 1 -- -- -- -- -- Notice that Kesler did not break out till his fourth season. Not saying he is Kesler, but Kesler didn’t become a beast until he filled out physically - it’ll be interesting to see how Gaudette has trained over the break. At least Gaudette has not yet established that he cannot match Kesler offensively - the first crucial question is, can Gaudette significantly improve his D - if he does it will gain him the icetime to improve his offensive stats.

Courtesy Jeremy Davis Since 2010, only 10 U21 defencemen have scored at a point-per-game rate. Six of these defencemen have gone on to not only play significant minutes in the NHL but they are top-four contributors with young players like Zach Werenski, Adam Fox, Cale Makar, and Quinn Hughes even displaying top-pairing potential. David Farrance is in the same boat as Rathbone as he was also in his age 20 season this year. Jake Walman played his one and only NHL game this year and Danny Biega is the only player on this list without an NHL game. Historically, his point production is even more impressive. Looking at Podkolzin and Hoglander about to break in, makes me recall when Burrows and Kesler broke in - both hard-working, abrasive, conscientious guys with the potential to be outstanding talents who can win hockey games for you. Our opponents did not much love Burrows and Kesler, and I don’t think they will spare much love for Podkolzin and Hoglander, either. Like B&K, it might take P&H a couple of years to find significant offence - in the meantime they can drive opponents crazy through their speed, pressure, and aggressive physical games.

You could leave the politics alone and at least leave your stupidity in doubt.

Tryamkin has mostly played RD as in here:

Yep, which ones you win is also important.

As I recall he had the most minutes of all Russian forwards at last year’s world juniors. Played both PK and PP as one of the youngest players on the team. The coaches did this because Podkolzin couldn’t be trusted and was captain in their last tournament because he was lazy and couldn’t be relied on. It was a total accident that he led his team in points and was played in all situations. Total bust, no doubt. And no, I’m not going to throw shade on Hoglander to praise Podkolzin. Miraculously, Jimbo might have actually made the most of his draft picks in the first two rounds
