Here are the numbers from NHL.com, if anyone is interested: http://www.nhl.com/stats/skaters?report=penaltykill&reportType=season&seasonFrom=20192020&seasonTo=20192020&gameType=2&position=D&playerPlayedFor=franchise.20&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,1&sort=shTimeOnIce&page=0&pageSize=50

Fewer broken sticks is because of a drastic decrease in the number of slapshots - he mostly uses the wrister now - which is why more of his shots are getting through.
-
Brisebois is the biggest +/- in Utica. Fantenburg played well until he got hurt.

He can do that and, in Utica at least, he has a pretty good skill game as well.

One of the toughest things in building a winner is how to replace a guy that is playing well, and giving everything to the team - like Stetcher. I really like Stetcher's effort, I think he works as harder or harder than anyone on this hard-working team. Stetcher has done nothing to deserve being moved and he has also been very durable. Sometimes coaches and managers take advantage of injuries, which may give an up and comer the chance he has been waiting for to prove that he is ready to take someone's job. The last twenty games and the playoffs will surely test the team's depth - maybe that's where someone like Rafferty or Tryamkin show that they have outplayed the guy they replace. It does seem harsh: how did that old folk song go: "Be not too hard, for life is hard, And nothing is given to man..."

I really like him, but you know players, they may modify his nickname to 'boner'.

I am pleasantly surprised by Myers performance so far this year. I really like what he brings to the team, and like pretty much all of the team, he looks like he really enjoys playing here. We seem to be finding a lot of our alumni finding their way back here, or just staying here after they're playing days are over. Speaks well of the organization.

Yeah, he had a different role last year. After the first few games they moved him off of Fox's unit to the shut down unit, and he played most of the year there. This year he is first unit all the time, best I can tell.

Paul Coffey used to wear skates way too small - same as he wore in junior. I guess players wear what they think works for them. Thankfully we have somebody looking at this stuff.
-
The only replacements I’d like to see are through internal promotion - unless there is some equivalent of the Miller trade - where we get a younger guy that is ready to blossom into a new role up the lineup.
-
Rafferty is definitely not the Bieksa style - think decently sized, excellent skater, slick puck handler, clever strategic player.

I think playing with Hughes has been good for Tanev’s health - neither him nor Hughes get hit much this year - for one thing, they have the puck a lot more and are both smart enough to not deliver a pass that makes his partner vulnerable. And, of course there is the amount of time spent in the offensive zone - which should get even better as our young forwards mature. However, if Hughes starts to get run in the playoffs, being able to pair him with Tryamkin might not be a bad idea.

Mac doesn’t rake many minors or misconducts?

One goal and four assists in 47 games for Beagle without MacEwen... so he would have accomplished... not much. Seeing as MacEwen scored apart from Beagle in the previous game, I’d guess Beagle is just holding MacEwen back.
-
Gadjovich pots his twelfth, tying Lind in goals... of course Lind has 28 assists and Gadjovich 4. ‘so Kay, though, they are both much improved over last year. Gadjovich has 2 g and 1 apple in his last three games - seeing more ice with MacEwen and Bailey auditioning with the Canucks.
-
In Utica he was receiving a lot of those passes in his own end of the rink, he lugged the puck a lot and drove a lot of defenders back off the blue line.
-
I don’t sell Lind short, I just don’t think he is ready this year. Yes, he and Bailey worked well together, but a lot of Bailey’s work was done off the rush. But I do see Lind getting a good look in the fall, the problem is that there are a wall of expensive contracts standing in his way and we won’t be done with them for another year or two. I think Lind won’t be effective as a fourth liner - but in a year or two a lot of expensive contracts will be cleared and Hoglander and Podkolzin are both left shooting wingers - Lind shoots right.
-
And Rathbone.

I think our diminished play at the end of the road trip and first game back might be attributed to weariness - tonight Nashville was the weary team at the end of a road trip. As our young guys learn to appreciate the rigours of the long season and Vancouver schedules, perhaps, like the 2011 team, we will roll over those speed bumps.

Well, there are always injuries, and the best teams with the deepest systems don’t give up a lot when key players go down - or at least they still remain the best teams. Is it not Smyl that scouts the college players? If it is then cudos to both of them. And we do have some pretty interest guys that will compete at D over the next couple of years - Rafferty, Rathbone, Tryamkin, Woo, Juolevi and replacing our vets with low cost young players does help to stretch our cap space - which may get tested paying our emerging star forwards and that wee 43.
