Jake has a lot of tools to work with. Great speed and size...hopefully with more experience and good coaching he will turn into quite a nice player for the canucks. I don't think he will be a 70 point player but most likely a very solid contributer and a player we can cheer for and be proud of. I am glad we have him now let him develop...he definately will have a role on this team for years to come
The only thing that worries me is that the puck doesn't seem to follow him around like it does gifted players. He has the body and physical tools but right now lacks positioning. He circles and moves well just doesn't go to the right areas. He isn't ready for the nhl now and needs coaching to learn how to play without the puck at both ends like every young player.
hope from now on when people say we can't draft great prospects drafting 25th to 31st they look at Barrie,Oreilly and Stastny on Colorado. Yes I know we have Tanev (who I do like of course)
Of course its just an opinion,,,,,, is any one of us Mike Gillis in disguise on these boards? We will see and discuss it later whatever the outcomes are but this is an interesting rumor. Kesler that is
Give the kid time,,, points are a combination of a lot of factors. Powerplay time, linemates, ice time, and strength of team. Kassian is doing great with the time and linemates he has had for the majority of the year. In the past 12 games he must have 7 or 8 points playing on a second line so he will be just fine.... If his great passes were finished he would certainly have a few more A definate keeper for police and talent!!
Possibly a turning point for this team. Showed a lot of heart tonight just need some finish. Won't go anywhere without this type of heart in the playoffs,,,, Kings now know we are turning a corner and not a pushover anymore. We will lose more games this year but hopefully this will help us come together.
I am questioning if you know anything about hockey and team sports. They played like a team tonight and came together for the first time in a while. yes they lost the game but they are no longer a pushover for this team.
Didn't mention Gillis, and in another thread I stated I was extremely pleased with this past draft... (not that it matters) just stated that is pretty tough to keep building from within with that type of draft history... so yes, our draft history leaves a lot to be desired... Our last three drafts,,,,we will see in time. There is bound to be a dropoff in production with that (hole) in drafting over that many years. That is where we are headed until the recent crop (2011-2013) can develop and contribute
I think we can argue trades and how they went but I heard on the radio the other night that the last first round draft pick of our own to be playing on this team is Kesler?? I know Schroeder is hurt but still,,,,,,,yes I know Bourdon was tragic but all the other years??
Last years draft provided us with two or three very nice pieces but their contribution is three to four years away. Over payiing for an average defense with not one of them being difficult to play against as well as a wealth of 6 foot 190 pound grinders with not much finish has left us in this situation. We need more size and speed in our role players if we are going to compete. I don't have a problem with Sedin's contract as they have earned it over their careers. this is an above average team, not much else.
( Just because Bieksa can fight does not mean he is difficult to play against )
I think once kass gets signed,, 1.5 give or take for three or four years, he goes with sedins in playoffs and perhaps earlier. Anytime sooner then that his numbers will dramatically increase thus so would his contract. Mg doesnt want this,, it is a business folks
I think he will be a 50 to 60 point guy in two years if given the chance with ice time. He is plsying much better all round in the past 8 to 10 games. We need this type of size for playoffs plus he will prove he can score as well
