[PGT] Edmonton Oilers at Vancouver Canucks | Jan. 21, 2023

Bruce getting replaced isnt the issue, im not sure his style is suited for playoff winning hockey.. the issue is if this organization wants to be taken seriously and respected, they took a few major steps back in their handling of this situation.. we can win trades or lose trades, win games and lose games. The underlying matter is how the organization is run from the top down and that is clearly where serious issues of credibility lie. i think rick will come in and do a fine job. He is very structured and tough which i believe this collection of players need. We will im sure move out of a top 5 pick and get a decent player if JR chooses correctly which i has reservations about given his draft track record. I hope things turn around but there is a serious black eye on ownership and management that they have to overcome.. fans will forget quickly when wins happen but credibility will take longer -
Ery very disappointed in ownership/management. Its deplorable to treat employees the way Bruce has been treated. The current coach has been nothing but class, entertaining and done a very good job under the circumstances. He has done a great job getting the team to play as hard as they have given all the noise from JR. I wish bruce nothing but success and thank him for all he did and how he handled this whole mess!

Edit- Rick Tocchet Expected To Be Next Head Coach
cocanuck replied to BertaNuck's topic in Canucks Talk
Unfortunately i couldn’t agree more.. tochett will change the defensive responsibility of the players and we will see improvement over the last 35 games or so. I hope we dont end up in 9-15 pick range but given out history ghats probably what will happen which is sad -
[PGT] Tampa Bay Lightning at Vancouver Canucks | Jan. 18, 2023

I thought the team was pretty good last night aside from the two really bad plays by the defense and spencer had a very tough night.. he moves too much in his crease and gets out of position. The forwards were pretty good as well. They were just out gunned by a better team playing well. I will admit tampa cruised for half the game but the guys played hard! Kuz is really really skilled! Losing that guy would hurt -
Tank Hard for Bedard - Playoff chances are already Slim
cocanuck replied to Provost's topic in Canucks Talk
Even if the nucks go into full tank mode all they can ever hope for is pure luck in winning the draft.. in order to keep petey they need to get a new coach or two in here to teach the players better habits and structure on defensive side of puck. They will never win without it and jr knows this. Its entertaining to watch shinny out there but it will be a considerably more boring brand of hockey to be more successful.. winning is the only thing that will keep petey here despite what he says publicly.. even with a top 5 pick in draft what has jr proven that he can draft properly with the right type of players based on his draft history? the only thing he has proven is he seems to get talent in free agency that works. I like most of his additions this year.. I've said it many times, you need to hit on late round picks with size and speed to contribute to the team for it to be successful.. cant live on free agent signings to fill all the holes.. i would continue to overhaul the amateur scouting department -

You can only trade a player that other teams value. Boeser because of his contract has little to no value to any team up against cap,,, miller is the same as is garland. We are basically stuck with those contracts.. if canucks could get rid of one of them they would have by now as they have been trying for months.. kuz, schenn ( less now ) and horvat are basically the only players other teams may covet. -

If rumor is true and tochett will be the new coach soon,, we cant even have a bad year correctly. He will improve the team and we can kiss a top 5 pick goodbye. Improvement is good but this team needs prospects.. -
Trading kuz may be a last resort. If they miraculously move boeser then sign him. If not, i dont see how this could be possible aside from trading horvat and not spending on defense. I would hate to lose him but….. the other downside to trading him would be how does that affect petey? Would he get fed up and say im out in two years
-
I highly doubt there will be much movement this trade deadline with a flat cap,, the only players i can see being traded are veteran defenseman to contenders who are on a small salary for depth. Kuz, schenn and bo are really the only players on the nucks that another team may want. No team wants a boeser or myers.. unless we attach a draft package with them. That woukd again be poor asset management something this team has a history of. Time, a new coach and good drafting are the only things that will fix this team. Time we have,, new coach we will have.. drafting remains to be seen but jr does not have a good record for that

(Rumour) 4 teams interested in J.T. Miller
cocanuck replied to combover's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Maybe then they will realize trevor was correct all along. Doubt he would come back though even though i would love him and his voice -
I would hate to lose this guy,, may not have a choice though. He seems like a great team guy!

I personally am cheering for all of the canucks picks. I sure hope he makes it and becomes a solid player. I just hate that i like vegas 2nd and 4th round picks better. Big, strong and fast,, all that we are not .. i hope jl feels better and develops well. Canucks need more then a few picks to pan out.. just dont have much faith in jr drafts

I still think we dont know the answer to this question. We all agree there is talent on this team and im sure we can all agree that are still a few pieces away. The main issue i see is that we really dont have a coach that will implement a more defensive responsible system and hold players accountable.. i love bruce and his personality but for this team to improve its really entirely on the defensive system and penalty killing. This team will never be good unless those two things improve and that is where coaching can make the biggest impact.. its tough watching junior teams have better structure on the pk then the nucks have.. this team has a lot of good quality players sans a better defenseman or two and a touch more grit. We can trade away our problems for other teams problems but i dont see much change until a coach who can teach structure ( to use managements word ). changes. I would love to see what a trotz or someone along those lines could do here. Yes the offense may suffer but what are we winning with scoring a lot of goals now?

Really like this kid! Moves well, uses angles well and sees the first read well. Decent size,, looks like he will definately be with the big club in a few years
