  1. Ah k. Yeah then it's just a difference of opinion. I think a prime Petey is a great core piece and Horvat (if under the right coach), but I think we still need a piece or two high end point getters to become cup contenders with rounded out depth. I'm not particularly sold on Boeser being a great core piece even when he is going and guys like Podz and Hoglander have great potential but they can also possibly not meet those potentials for me. It's decent, but is it Stanley Cup level decent if we were to acquire what you think we need? I'm not sure it's quite there yet. But it's all opinion anyways! Hopefully Boeser and Petey turn it around so we can see how it plays out!
  2. Who is gonna drive the bus offensively though? That's a lot of eggs into the basket for guys like Klimo
  3. I actually like him as a GM of a team that has good core pieces, however it's an interesting pick considering we're all still a bit angry with the tossing away of our first round picks and not really having much in the cupboard with the previous GM. However, who knows how much of a decision maker he will be for this team. Sounds like he'll be pretty hands off, so hopefully that's the case. If it isn't though, I don't think this core is strong enough to really contend.
  4. Bouchard has good offensive tools, but if you put him on a less offensive team his numbers would deteriorate. He's more on the same level as a modern day Edler, he's just playing on a great offensive team. Earlier in the year he was actually doing decently defensively but he's been a tire fire lately in his own end (as have all Oilers defensemen lately, except for Nurse, he's uncharacteristically been playing well lately despite playing really poor defensively earlier on in the year). Fantasy hockey wise, Bouchard is good. Real life wise, he's closer to a #4 defenseman.
  5. Green was a good coach at the beginning with the Canucks because the Canucks actually had a pretty good team, and when they were aggressive they won 99% of their games. Then as time went on you saw him starting to employ his system of playing passive and safe hockey and all of the good game was coached out of all of the players. We never had odd man rushes, we never passed to the trailing man, we never were aggressive along the walls and we never played a strict man to man coverage. We just relied on goaltending. That was our entire defensive plan. Halfway through the first season can nobody remember everybody calling the team "Jekyll and Hyde"? It's because you had pro players battling between playing the right way vs playing a terrible system. Eventually he had everybody buy into it because as a professional you should listen to your coach, especially if you want ice time. Green never rewarded the guys who grinded on the team (as a matter of fact he often demoted them). It was maddening to watch and often times I'd comment on it to half the board responding with, "I don't see you coaching behind an NHL bench, what the hell do you know?" Well, evidently, a hell of a lot more than Green. There were like 4 of us posters on CDC that could see the writing on the wall from a mile away at the time. We went from being told we weren't fans to having everybody else on the forums agreeing with us in the next few years lol. The funny thing is in the bubble, we played perfectly against Minnesota and St. Louis, and had we continued that same style of hockey we would have murdered Las Vegas as well because they absolutely hit a cold streak offensively against us. All of their offensive producers went cold in that series.
  6. Crazy to think, but I was actually pumped we took that penalty in the 2nd because the boys weren't playing aggressive enough up until that point and I knew our PK was gonna set the tone for the bench. When this team is aggressive, they're extremely tough to beat because we have so many intelligent forecheckers on the team. Since Boudreau took over, our PK has probably generated more high danger chances for than against by a 3 to 1 ratio.
  7. I live in Edmonton and that's Oilers fans all of the time whether they're playing good or not hahaha. They always want to trade somebody. Always. Never to get defensemen though. Why would they need defensemen when they can get a goalie, right?
  8. Also that was probably Podkolzin's worst game yet this season. He had probably his best game last game to his worst one last night haha. It's a one-off rookie kind of night though, but he was pretty rough to watch, as was Hoglander. Once we can get these two rolling together our depth will look really nice. It's coming really soon. These two look like they're due to heat up.
  9. Button always looks pretty dumb with all of his really awful takes.
  10. It should be! I'm recommending using your mouths! I suppose clapping is completely acceptable. Maybe it did get out of hand too quickly... I'm sorry you guys!
  11. Do you wanna know why this team doesn't hit? It's because everytime they sacrifice their bodies, it's to the sound of absolute silence from the fans. The people that show up to games should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. How do you pay that much for a ticket, watch the boys put in the effort to finish their checks these past couple games and keep your mouth shut? This isn't a church it's a damn hockey game! Support your boys with some type of audible noise or stay home! Now that the team doesn't suck, I have to direct my anger somewhere else. And that's right, you guessed it... You suck! Use your mouths! Don't use your mouths for sucking, use it for cheering! At least during game time! Be better!
  12. Can we just acknowledge how horrible our shooting was that game?! AND WE STILL WON BAYBAY!!!
  13. Sadly Cheech, I think that level of disrespect needed to happen for ownership to do the right thing... And give us this win, baby!
  14. My hearing has gotten worse over the years but pretty sure it was, "Bring back Green! Bring back Green!" Pretty sure anyways.
  15. I've counted 3 easy entries for the LA Kings into our zone all night. That's pretty damn impressive.
