  1. Yep. We are both pro-forecheck, Wish our coaches were too. Haven't had a coach care about the forecheck since AV.
  2. Exactly, and that's why I wasn't on the bandwagon to throw Elias under the bus when he was having his poor stint last season. Effort always comes primary to everything else. I actually would rather the team make mistakes putting in effort than to see a team playing safe conservative hockey (AKA the Travis Green method). We need this team to load up more on guys who move their skates and play with desperation.
  3. Ultimately it's all a matter of opinion but you can't debate the fact that Miller was the only guy consistently showing up on the point sheet while the team around him weren't. Miller had a great season last year and a lot of people thought he got a somewhat fair wage for his contract. He deserves the scrutiny this year but we are all pretending like he wasn't good the last few seasons. The guy has been good 5 on 5 for us until he made bank. Personally, I was uneasy with his new contract but only on the basis that the team needed a new direction and his age. I feel the same way with the Horvat situation as well. I don't think neither player are consistent enough in the effort department to warrant retirement contracts to the cap hits they are getting/going to get. It's asking for trouble. I did not however anticipate that Miller would phone it in immediately as he is such a competitive player. I was hoping to avoid overtime Miller until later in his contract but alas he has shown up strong this year. I actually think we would see something pretty similar with Bo if we were to do the same and re-sign him to a retirement deal as well. This is how you end up with Darnell Nurse contracts. Somebody playing way above their standards in a contract year and boom, GM's afraid to lose players and would rather sandbag their cap situations.
  4. Who do you think carried the team for the first half of the year? Come on, are our memories really this short now? He was literally the only player (and thats including Demko) who had a good start to the season. Demko had a third of the year stretch where he was lights out. The rest of the year he was above average but not elite. Had he been elite the whole year he would have been nominated for the Vezina but he fell out of it within the final third of the year. Demko was the best goalie in the league for a considerable portion of the year after a mediocre start with Green and then started hitting stride right before Green got the boot. Miller was good for the majority of the year and put up consistent points the entire year. He had a few games here and there where he phoned it in like he's doing all of this year but let's not pretend like he was anything like this year. He earned his 99 points the hard way and was actually one of our better forwards defensively last year. He was +15 and that only put him behind Garland. Miller was fantastic last year pretty much the whole year and absolutely carried us until Petey and Bo showed up halfway through the season to lessen the load.
  5. The funny thing is even media is saying it's a nothingburger. It's just the morons who have never played sports at a competitive level in their lives being offended on behalf of other people.
  6. 14 pages and not one person giving Spencer Martin credit for that amazing game he just played???? The disrespect, man. That guy nearly stole a game for us and nobody is willing to even make a comment about him. Ungrateful. Game should have been 8-2.
  7. Yeah having played on competitive teams Delia got told to go by Miller several times and he cracked the net to wake him up lol. Unless you could hear him audibly insult the guy it's a nothingburger. Miller sucked that game though.
  8. Nope. Have two family members that are though and we hate them. They're fantastic people. But screw them and their birthdays.
  9. I find most gm's love signing bad contracts these days. It actually fills me with joy that Alvin is willing to let Bo walk cuz he's asking too much. Majority of the gm's in the league are too scared to let players walk. Our gm sucks but at least he isn't desperate.
  10. I was less impressed by the snipe than I was just the absolute will offensively from that entire shift by Hughes leading up to the goal. He used his edgework and hands just so well. Reminds us of why we thought he had a chance to win the Calder against Makar who plays that same exact style. Hughes is the smarter player and he has the skills Makar does, he just doesn't utilize his toolbox as often as he should anymore.
  11. That's the Quinn Hughes I miss from his rookie season. He used to be brave offensively like that so often. If he continues doing that he will be even more deadly.
  12. It looks like a f*cked up space ship. The disrespect could not be tolerated.
