I think it's a coaching thing. Any system that doesn't involve movement over the course of 2 powerplays needs a serious adjustment. It's been this way for a while and it's only gotten more stationary the more skill we've added to it.
To be fair this looks like the exact same team as last year. Half the games we played like this and the other half we were an elite hockey team.

Hughes has been crosschecked (legally) like 10 times tonight already holding onto the puck too long.
He's not shaking anybody this year. Just skating into them as if he's a power forward.
Unpopular opinion time... I actually think those Flames retro jerseys are one of the best jerseys ever made. It's on par with our skate jerseys (just under it).
Won't surprise me if the powerplay somehow has the skates moving around this time. We should see that adjustment. It's the nhl. But I also have a feeling it'll be as stagnant as the 5 on 3.
