  1. Also Mikheyev looks laboured when he skates. Maybe groin for lower body injury? No way he skates like that and is one of the fastest players in the league lol
  2. It isn't. Never claimed it was. I think the lines he rolls out are not good though along with the ice time management.
  3. I think he's done a poor job of coaching this year but he isn't nearly as bad as this thread. Jesus man.
  4. Legit though, why hire this bum? What kind of country club setting are we displaying by hiring a coach that can't win and just gets tossed from team to team worse than a puck bunny.
  5. Maybe I am becoming numb to it, but I think there were a lot of silver linings tonight. The team wasn't horrible, but they changed strategies to throwing the puck into the zone and changing as opposed to taking the room that was given to them. That was the dagger. Can't keep changing game plans once you're up. This team is built for possession and they simply aren't playing that game. When they do they are successful. Players were off and on, but at least guys didn't suck for the entire game like Bo or Miller. There were some bad mistakes but overall weren't completely terrible. I'd argue Hughes was our worst defenseman and Demko had a rough game. Demko is off to a rough start this year but hopefully he turns it around. He's not playing aggressively this year and it's killing him. When he's rolling he plays much further out. He's getting killed playing deep in his net. Tonight it killed the team. Bo put in an acceptable effort tonight, I actually thought Boeser had a decent night tonight (normally I think he's awful) but you can't have Burroughs being your best defenseman on the night. It's time for Hughes to step up. He keeps attacking players on the wall for no reason on rushes instead of playing smart positionally. He also needs to take more chances offensively. This team is afraid to use the boards in the offensive zone and in preseason it was working brilliantly. Hoglander was fantastic tonight. No way he deserved to be dropped down to Lazar of all players. He carried his line tonight.
  6. I definitely agree with Boeser being lowest on the totem pole but in terms of value contracts I think Garland is near the top. If anything he is underutilized. 5v5 scoring is not a huge strength of the team and he's our best forward from last year for it.
  7. There are people that argue he should be in the Hof due to that performance lol
  8. They also played well in that series but Tom Thomas was absolutely ridiculous in net.
  9. The board battles statistic is another one of those fancy stats that doesn't tell the whole story though. It's similar to that of a plus/minus stat where it can present a picture but doesn't mean the findings have any true bearing on anything. And Hughes is a player that shouldn't be engaging in board play as it'd mean he's being inefficient in moving the puck but whenever play is low he's usually the first guy mucking it up with his stick work. I suppose we will agree to disagree on this one.
  10. And you think Boeser is tougher than they are? I don't understand your reasoning. Kuzmenko and Hughes battle way harder than Boeser and are willing to go to the tougher areas of the ice. I don't follow your reasoning as to why you'd consider those players soft but not Boeser.
  11. Honest question, who is a player on our team that you would consider soft?
  12. During the Oilers vs Flames broadcast on the panel they asked what he has planned for the evening and he said it honestly depends on what the league will allow them to do but the Canucks really want it to be a fun night and he wants it to be fun but it's up to the league with what they can get away with.
  13. Had a great game today and I believe only had 9 minutes of ice time lol
  14. I think he's honestly one of the worst captains in team history (I didn't get to see the 70s and 80s though) as I'm in my 30s.
  15. I agree the 99 points is an anomaly but that was also in a year where he carried the team on his back for half a season. Having to do it solo he also lowered his ppg if he were to have the team around him playing well also so I think it'll even out a bit. I anticipate a 70-80 point season personally. He's been in the league long enough and he isn't even the main guy for Vancouver other teams target so I think he will be fine for matchups targeting him.
  16. Playing like a 3c getting a 2c paycheck.
  17. I believe Bo is capable of being a number one center. Is he though? Not unless it's the playoffs. He has all the skill in the world. Refuses to use it consistently. Good shot, good speed, can be an absolute bull in a china shop, but we see it once every ten games. Saying he is a number one guy is like saying Jake Virtanen is a number one winger. He can be. Just isn't. Bo is the most frustrating player on the team because he can be so good but he doesn't care on the ice.
  18. I disagree. It's early in the year and he has yet to swing into things and get his timing down so I'm not sure that's a fair assessment but we shall see.
  19. Horvat has value because he's been hyped around the league for sooooo long by media. Boeser we likely have to give up assets.
