I was wondering today something given some posters I have seen on CDC - why do people troll websites? Let's take CDC - it is a site for Canuck fans to voice opinions, concerns and even despair with a team that is currently coming out of their down cycle so most fans know that a 29th place team is not perfect but have optimism and even some patience. However, no matter how positive an issue is, there are a handful of people who simply want to take every issue and look for drama and implied "doom and gloom" even where there is no evidence of any such. Being constructive critical is what a fan would do - hating on every single move is a troll. So, I just thinking to myself, if why? If you truly hate the Canucks so much - why follow them? If you are a fan of another team, is your life so empty that you get pleasure baiting Canuck fans? Are there people out there that insecure?
Genuinely curious. Just asking myself!

Does not accusing a poster of trolling imply knowing their thought process? Perhaps, some posters have opinions that are contrary to yours/mine/ours? This entire suggesting one poster is trolling is beyond arrogant. We don't know what others are thinking, do we? Personally, I don't understand how we can be so self absorbed as to determine what others are thinking. We even ban posters, based on our opinion of their intent. "you are a troll, and shall be banned". Who has the ability to determine another's thinking?
Alf thinks Patrick Kane is a bad person, who should not be making millions of dollars playing a game. Is this not my opinion? Certainly, there would be some who would completing disagree, and (perhaps) even find my opinion upsetting. Is that trolling?

Alf, if someone comes in here to say little more than "Canucks suck", you have to question that. It's not about being arrogant, it's a reasonable expectation to like something about the team/fanbase/etc. in order to be here. If not, what's the point? If you go to Chicago's site and say that, you'll be ousted. Most forums have zero tolerance for that sort of thing and in all actuality, we're one of the most lenient. Everyone is welcome, unless you're just here to stir the pot and trolls are distinguishable over time. It's mostly in the presentation. If a good argument is presented, awesome. If it's a "you're the worst"..not so much. Then we get the flyswatter out
