By the way, as you played in Timrå, how are the coaches compared to NA coaches?

regarding both personality(treat players and behave) and knowledge?

I didn't play for them....I played THERE but not for them.   My European experience in coaches was largely in Germany.   In general, and taking into account things others have shared over time with their experiences, NA coaches are less involved in player development it felt like to me and more "win at all costs" which often backfired in my opinion.   I felt teams in Europe were more "teams" and the coaching approach had a lot to do with that.   One of the reason many far lesser "flashing" European teams often do well in international tournaments against NHL or high-end junior talent is due to that "team" approach.   I think the NHL could learn from Europe in that regard.

yup that was all in the news. So far, it sounds like no one outside of him and management know what the issue is.. we should know pretty quickly tho.

If he's trying to protect his kid he has all of my sympathies. If he's an anti-vaxxer I want him gone.

    We agree on something!

We shouldn't muddy the water with the question of his decision to protect his Daughter OR play. Of course family comes first, but you don't make commitments in life you can not honour.

Travis decided to sign a contract with the Canucks in July. The team structured their roster and salary cap construction around that. IF he had concerns about his daughter, he should of held out signing the contract until a true vision of the state of Covid was known in September; he did not.

Now, he is "deciding" if he wants to play, and in all essence, screwing the Canucks and Jim Benning over. If he opts out, Jim has to wade into a lesser pool of available players, and aim to wedge that individual into our Salary Cap and roster. This is totally unfair to the team. This is a selfish move by Travis.

What total BS.  In July he didn't know about the Delta variant or the sad pace of vaccination across the jurisdictions he would be playing in.   Stop making a guy who is a strong family guy the "bad guy" here.   There is no "bad guy" as if there was no global pandemic or if he daughter was not born with a life-threatening immuno compromised disease he would be playing right now.   He had no more idea where COVID was going than any of the "experts" who also got it wrong.

What is it with some of you wanting to crap on the players with these false narratives?   :frantic:

I don't believe that the Canucks can unilaterally overrule the CBA ......

"There are stiff rules for unvaccinated players. On the road, they cannot enter “internal venues” other than the team hotel, practice facility, or game arena. They are not allowed to use the hotel gym, pool, sauna, steam room or other shared facilities. They are not allowed to have teammates, team staff or visitors inside their hotel room, with the exception of fully-vaccinated family. They are not allowed to leave the hotel to eat (or purchase food) or use any restaurants/bars (in or out of the hotel) that are open to the public. They can’t pick up food except where the restaurant provides curbside pickup (or similar service) that does not require entrance to the main restaurant."

The "suspension" references a daily suspension, not a seasonal one.  A player is suspended for those days when he can't participate in team activities, which would include away games where he didn't travel or play with the team.

Heres a link to the SN article ...

    https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/nhls-new-covid-19-protocols-include-mechanism-suspending-unvaccinated-players/

(and as an aside, he signed in good faith jn July -- the Protocol was issued September 2 ... that's what changed)

all moot as he is vaccinated....cheers

Yeah that's fair for some, but there are others that's just not the case. I guess that's more with whom my frustration lies with

We (society) are all in the same boat.    If some people drill holes in the boat (don't get vaccinated), as long as isn't too many of them we can stop them and repair the damage before it gets out of control (variants).   If we have too many people drilling holes at same time, we will eventually sink no matter how many people try and stop the drilling.     Saw an article in a German paper that one community epidemiologist estimated that roughly 1.2 to 1.4% of the population had legitimate medical reasons for delayed or non-immediate vaccination (or any at all in some rare cases) but as the world tends to be stalled in the (at best) 20% or so not being vaccinated, herd immunity may not come prior to many more (and more damaging) variants come calling.    Not getting vaccinated if you in the 99% is simply selfish.    Cheers.

We were at our best last year playing Miller at centre

Wow, really?   The Canucks suffered with the loss of their number 1 center who, when in the lineup with JT Miller, creates one of the best pairs in all of hockey.   His playing C was more due to EP40 not being healthy and/or not playing at all so it is a pretty odd "best".    Few teams in the league can consistently defend Miller and EP40 when they are "on" and if you add a strong RW presence to them (Garland is my preference but Boeser fine) you have one of the best lines in the NHL with still a great second line to follow.

This doesn't just happen with sports. This happens with politics and anything else really.

As soon as you put what is deemed to be an "authoratative figure" that's actually in the profession being talked about (doesn't actually have to have knowledge in the field), people will look to them and deem them as knowledgable. It's not unlike commericials where "4 out of 5 dentists recommend x product" or something along those line.

Some people do I guess.    I didn't agree with much of anything with the oranged haired president but he was right about one thing.....most media is "fake news" and sports are no exception.   People who view some of these people as "authorities" would be surprised how little real accurate information they actually have and under COVID it is even less.
