  1. Are you in Canada finding it odd the your media is basically ignoring the majority of Wet'suwet'un members who have agreed to the pipeline and stated they don't know who most of the protesters are?
  2. This Buffalo site and Dahlin page is really great! I usually only hang out at CDC but this is a nice change. Go Sabres!
  3. So projects in the best interest of all Canadians can be politically bounced around for better part of 7 years while a corrupt company skates? Curious the way things work in my country of birth. Sorry, not going to convince me that the massive waste of opportunity cost with this pipeline will ever be justified in a manner that outweighs the lost benefit to the Canadian society as a whole. We can agree to disagree on that one. Cheers.
  4. Done a number of realistic scenarios Sparky. They all work just fine. Try the decaf....the one with the orange top.
  5. Oh yeah, forgot that Canada has an independent Court and Justice Minister who works without any influence from the Government.
  6. Still needs to get constructed Jimmy. Given the Federal Government owns it and approves it, think of this as the guy who "approves" himself getting off the couch and losing 30 pounds over a couple of months. The approval is fine and all but the guy is still fat. Canadian Federal government simply approved their own project - means nothing until same government rolls out some shovels and builds the bloody thing....until then, they are the guy on the couch.
  7. Far from impossible - many different combinations. You clearly have a position - good for you. I totally disagree with it. Your doom and gloom scenario is not backed by the facts though hats off for your new incarnation having such an intense start at it. I don't think anyone in the history of CDC had this many words after so few posts. Pace yourself.
  8. Boeser means more to Vancouver and his teammates and BT means more to Ottawa. Poor deal for both as both will feel as though the lost the deal and both players will be in for a mess of comparison for pretty much ever and crumble under the weight of the other player's accomplishments. Not a good deal for either.
  9. E X A C T L Y !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. You put a lot of work into this but took the thinking too far when you said this. Of course there is. You have too many assumptions that can be addressed in a different outcome but to assume you cannot sign to cornerstones at same time when ever single other asset is movable is simply a silly premise. Other teams have done this and Canucks will have the ability to do this as well.
  11. Yup, that is a valid perspective. My own is that the Canucks should keep Tanev for at least the first three Hughes' full seasons. As usual, am probably in the minority.....
  12. It happens all the time in the NHL and it isn't "for free" if you get good service from the player in his last season and then have his contract space/AAV open in the CAP. You only make trades that help your team and fit in with an overall plan. Every combination is evaluated by every management team in the NHL. You cannot make trades another GM isn't willing to make and you most certainly shouldn't make trades if it messes up an overall plan. You cite Miller and Danny H. The former was always a rent and they used him as such. The latter has a NMC and invoked it to not be moving on his kids before school was out. Don't create false narratives as if there was this massive trade potential in either case. The Canucks have actually had very few FAs really ever move on that wasn't by mutual agreement. Big names like the Sedins and Edler re-signed for not more than market and in the former case, likely considerably less. The best moves the Canucks make this trade period with their pending UFAs may be the moves the don't make....and that will still be better for them now AND in the future.
  13. I went through a similar time period and can say the "traditions" of which he speaks lasted longer in Europe. Curfews a little less rigorously policed too. KHL is supposed to be a pretty decent party for those who want that.
  14. Can't argue with dressing room beer......
  15. Renewable energy sources like solar and wind will increase their share of global power generation from 7 percent to roughly 25 percent by 2040-60...and perhaps up to 40% by 2120. Unless those young snowflakes you are talking to (graduating engineers) are planning for a career of more than 40 years, interesting decisions they are making. Oh, and every Tesla out there in your Kingdom of Surry requires an equivalent of carbon far beyond what your masses have been led to believe by their King. Forget the electricity needed to charge the car; that still comes from carbon around the world and will do long after your King's reign will have ended. As far as other aspects, it gets a bit trickier but beyond the very carbon fibre shell (do some research on what CARBON fibre is made of and how oil intensive the process is....you will clearly be surprised). Electric cars need to be light, which means they include a lot of high-performing metals that have to come from somewhere - and therefore, you got it, they are mined. Guess how mining happens in most of the world. If these snowflakes in your kingdom really wanted to help, they would continue on making the Canadian oil and gas industry (already the cleanest in the world) even better and raise the bar for what that still needed by society industry looks like for their generation and those that follow versus putting their heads in the sand like their King has.
  16. Canucks could get him and trade for a less effective Motte is what you are proposing?
  17. A non-surprising surprise. If this guy is in any shape to play, ANY contending team's GM to not try and give him a million a month contract through the playoffs should be fired. Could be a huge X factor.
