This sounds right. THEN PROTEST THIS. Make an agreement to only do the pipeline if it is refined there like the old days. Why cannot that be the dialogue instead of these misguided and ironic protests led by people who drive to these sessions.

She sure as sugar is not "my Premier". I don't live in Alberta and if I did you can guarantee I would not have voted for her. IF you want to leave things to your kids/grandkids, leave a strong economy that can take care of medical issues, environmental issues and allow them to build a life. Right now all their oil, for example, is not coming domestically and not having that revenue from international trade will erode their future. Oil isn't going away - not using Alberta's is just so short-sighted. I don't disagree with anything you say about Alberta Premier. BC Premier and her are supposed to be left-wingnut bedfellows. Put the controls in place or if you want to go back to the Neolithic existence then have you and your family stop using oil - period. Stop wearing synthetics, using carbon fibre....etc. etc. etc. Oil is such a massive part of everything you do today and that oil you ship overseas is used for stuff you then buy. Your consumptive patterns are the reason it is needed. I get that two Provinces are playing like children but to use something and not care where it comes from as long as it is not Alberta is pretty naive isn't it? Moreover, it is impacting the very future of the family you talk about.

Sparky, if that helps you sleep at night!

I thought people in BC were part of Canada? Go ahead you BCers, work out an agreement then on the risks whatever else - but just stop saying "no". You have tanker traffic now - it just is that most of it comes in to you for your oil. The more I read those opposed, it is all about money and risk to BC. THEN WORK OUT A DEAL with Alberta. This current situation is great for every other country that sends you your oil except the very one you life in. This "Province vs Province" crap is the same divisive mentality going on south of the border. Why not start acting like one country? Get the risk/reward ratio right - protest THAT but stop the hypocrisy BC.

Yup, no way an NHL ready player can make the line up of a 30ish place team next year if two other players are re-signed. It can't happen. Never before in NHL has a player been inserted when two other players are re-signed. Do you stay up late thinking up how you can weave something about the Sedins into every thread about every player? You are up to about 25 now and counting. Impressive work!

Or perhaps a good drafter and a better GM waits until the season is over and teams get more crazy leading up to the draft and figure the age of their key core means "win now" and they will offer even more for Tanev in a package. Stupidity would be to lean towards something you don't know.

No one should ever be unprotected for their first.

You don't see how hypocritical it is to bring oil from Mexico, Middle East or Russia by tanker for people in BC to use or by rail from US (uber safe that rail/oil thing...another topic) but oil from Canada itself, oil that you HAVE been using for nearly 5 decades, along a pipeline route that has been safety transporting oil for more than 60 years is a somehow worthy of a protest.....let alone those who protested probably drove their using oil. You don't see the hypocrisy in how they got there then this is one topic I will need to ignore you on. They are not standing up for all BCers, they are protesting being a country and working to balance all needs PLUS ignoring their own demands for a product that comes to them in the very form they are now protesting.

Lol. Agreed - that was implied.

Your oil has to come from somewhere. You can have it come heavily regulated Canada or from some random locations around the world by sea and rail where environmental protection is often very optional. I am all about reduction in carbon footprints but for at least the next two to four generations oil is a reality - what Canadians can control is where is comes from. Buying it from Middle East or US or Russia - just don’t see how that isn’t hypocritical.

That's so correct. At 189 lbs, he will not be able to do much at all and will likely be prohibited from playing due to the "you are not 190 lbs" rule. At 191 lbs, his talent will be far more evident and his 189 lb self will be in awe of the transformation. "Who knew?" he will say in interviews later. All I needed to do was eat a Happy Meal for lunch each game day and I am now a playoff powerhouse. @Peaches5, you are clearly a hockey mastermind.

Sometimes the best summary of how I think about some but was not able to articulate it comes as a gift in another's post. Thank you @The Great Canucks

Totally agreed. I think the one thing Russian players have in their back pocket (perhaps not for much longer if you believe rumours) is a league that pays somewhat comparable to the NHL. No other top league in the world can come close to KHL in luring NHL talented players away when salary is a key discriminator.

Found this season more watchable than last. Some of the new cast are nice additions - particularly one younger one. I think the writing needs to improve a bit and the health of the actors needs addressing too. I also would like to see some more new talent and perhaps some special effects thrown in.
-
Housing and transportation are indeed typically provided. Some other perks on a case-by-case basis too. Nothing opulent (except in truly exceptional cases) but the bulk of your contract can be banked after taxes paid which is very much unlike playing in North America.

Canucks versus Kings. Ended a few minutes ago. Weak plot. Little drama. Not a recommended show.

Would be great to have it confirmed all these people walked to the misguided protest.

I seem to remember your city is a royal pain to get to your rink if you don't live downtown - or does the team practice in the suburbs?
-
He left for a myriad of reasons (like any decision) and the one that makes the most sense was his young bride was homesick. It is the one that by far makes the most sense.
-
It's a joke. Clearly that was, at best, his attempt to not come out and say "my wife was homesick" so he threw it out there as one thing she may have said once in the elevator or who knows. It is just kinda fun to keep bringing it up given the reputation your city has.
-
While I don't disagree, I am not sure how that could have happened realistically. Short of moving her hometown and family plus putting a Russian market in front of her home located away from any weed in any direction - not sure what could have happened. Let her grow up a bit (they are both so young) and think about this again and perhaps the big guy will convince her to give it another shot and perhaps the Canucks, in the meantime, can buy up some real estate in a "weed free zone" for them.
-
For him? Perhaps but for his wife it was almost certain as at least he had his teammates and such but she had an empty apartment and safety/smell concerns apparently.
-
I believe one of those years is an option (player's) and he has an NHL out clause I think one of the translated interviews implied BUT if his wife still isn't keen on living in your drug infested city, you can wait a long while and he will never come. You need to be selling his wife (or getting her hooked on your weed).
