  1. No, I don't think it makes a difference when they are that old. That is my opinion. You didn't shut down anything, you just get immature and make it personal. It is a style thing I guess but my opinion isn't going to change because you get rude.
  2. At that age, means nothing. If I played CHL versus USHL it means I wasn't more prepared? Or vice versa? It matters when they are 10 and 12 or so. Not when they are young men.
  3. Still means nothing. No need to "shut" people up. This is a discussion forum. You are quite a rude fellow aren't you.
  4. That context means nothing. A few months at 19 means nothing as all playing hockey same length. If they were 10 it might matter.
  5. All were 19 in that year - Brady simply a September kid. By that age it makes squat difference.
  6. More for people to have realistic expectations.
  7. Never a direct comparison but just before people start claiming BradyT is the non-brainer top pick, at least in terms of offensive production, this may interest you; - Freshman Brock Boeser - 1.42 points per game - Freshman Adam Gaudette - 0.73 points per game - Freshman Brady Tkachuk - 0.77 points per game - Freshman Jonathan Toews - 0.93 points per game All were same age. Tkachuk has had more minutes per game than the other three in their freshman seasons.
  8. I am pretty sure many of the posters on CDC are not actually Canuck fans as the amount of contrived negative material about every possible issue doesn't come from being a fan. People in Vancouver may be feeling effects of 2011 still but think about the Leafs where it has been a far longer wait and far more years in the depths of mediocrity and worse. I think Vancouver is seen by others as a brilliant place to live (BC in general) and other than your cost of living (housing - ouch!), you get so much better than the rest of Canada and now your hockey fortunes seem to be headed in right direction relatively quickly in compare to Toronto where it literally took 20 years to sort things out. Edmonton had one up year and now are a lottery team. Montreal is a mess without much in the up and coming tank. Winnipeg - San Jose may have said it best. Calgary - some nice pieces but still a bit of a mess in that not sure they are a 'team'. Ottawa - not sure what is going on there. Canucks seem to have someone in every key league not called NHL either leading it or close to doing so, having another top pick coming and likely will pick up something either at TDL or over this summer for some aging players. The young players currently in the NHL like Baer, Horvat, Boeser, Virtanen, Stecher - and others - seem to be a nice start for building something special.
  9. I don't eat cat....but if Alf thinks that a player's life is bigger than all "this", then I am pleased to be compared to him.
  10. He has not helped his development, agreed, but he likely saved his marriage. In that regard, kid made the right choice as his career is just that but his marriage is his life.
  11. That rep exists in minds of some Canuck fans and media but isn't seen that way around the league. Never hear that, for example, here in Ontario where the rep the Canucks currently have is a team to be concerned about in the next few years as everywhere one looks one of your prospects is doing something of note.
  12. I agree - the point is, however, not in their top 4. He is a work in progress and his play in KHL has confirmed that. Good prospect but needs a lot of work.
  13. Brady plays the game "tough" but I don't see him doing the crap his older brother did in CHL and perhaps he is a different person so don't write him off. The only warning sign on Brady is offensive production numbers were about same as Gaudette as a freshman (a fifth rounder) on a much stronger team than Gaudette was on - just as one comparison. BT is a great prospect but may not be as dynamically offensively as you may like as a 2nd overall pick if that is where he is available to a team like Vancouver.
  14. You described Kane perfectly for his USHL and CHL time as he often just waited for a puck to work free and then he would pounce. He avoided the heavy traffic very well and translated that into the NHL.
  15. Looked pretty much reaction to a guy cutting across the middle. Pretty quick "bang-bang" sort of play. The Dman didn't seem to be head hunting but I agree Lind is in a vulnerable position but I don't think this is a pre-meditated "get him" play - just a kid finishing a check that went badly as Lind put himself in a bad position. That cutting across like that is a pretty dangerous move if you are not looking up.
  16. Boucher earned it and Goldy needs to. That is so simple.
  17. Why are people calling it a dirty hit?
  18. Is that retained 1300 games or pro-rated? I got lost in the other discussion.
  19. "PDO. PDO, called SPSV% by the NHL, is the sum of a team's shooting percentage and its save percentage. PDO is usually measured at even strength, and based on the theory that most teams will ultimately regress toward a sum of 100, is often viewed as a proxy for how lucky a team is or used by smug people in internet chat forums to try and convince someone else they have a clue about hockey by telling others "you don't understand PDO" when, in fact, no one really does." The Hockey Dictionary.
  20. Interesting that several commentators in Europe have directly compared his playing style to Kane in how he can work in such tight spaces. I don't know about Johnny G (hopefully he is far less selfish with the puck than the diminutive Flame) but the Kane comparisons seem somewhat logical if you watch EP enough and followed Kane at all when he was similar age.
  21. Not sure why so many people are surprised by this. He was barely an everyday NHL player on a 29th place team. He oozes potential but is several seasons of intense coaching away from being a sure thing in NHL let alone a top 6 certainty. Not sure how he has become so massively talented in some people’s minds since he went back to Russia. I like him as prospect but he is far from the lock great player some here think. He has a ton of potential but that may never be realized without the right coaching.
  22. Even if only a Canuck fan, I would never lump different generations and management regimes on the present one as they have zip to do with one another. I dont care care what they do in their boots but I can assume most people who come to discuss on their team’s forum don’t want to see a constant barrage of negative fabrication from a few who seem to do nothing but that. They can fill their vile boots with whatever they wish - makes no difference to me as much of it can be quite entertaining.
  23. They will enjoy being called cute. Will pass it on.
  24. You are both entertaining and predictably negative on all things. You can select any and all sources of information you want but I will stick with actual people and choose to see the positives in the teams I follow. I also will continue to enjoy calling the little balls of hate out on their crap so just stay ready.
