Whatever helps you sleep. Bertuzzi is quotes as saying to wait for Jake until he is 24 to 28 and I noted that Islanders gave up on Todd too early - just as you seem to be on Jake in the same manner with which you invent context.
-
You are inventing things. Bertuzzi is the one quoted as saying not to give up on Jake. No one but you is comparing their point totals or that of any other player (why bring Kassian up here?). Of course Jake needs to prove he can bring this consistently and some of us (me) think he can, you don't believe it and that is fine but you don't need to start inventing things no one said.

Maybe cateater but I have my own theory - I think these man-child types had it soooo easy growing up that they never really had to work at it to dominate and then they find themselves in the pros and have to start learning for the first time and it puts them back a bit and takes a few years to have it sink in that they cannot just get by being the biggest/fastest or whatever anymore.
-
Agreed but that is what the seasoning is all about. Bertuzzi was that for Islanders, first star in one game and then a month of missing in action. They gave up on him and he proceeded to be one of the top power forwards in the game for many seasons. It can be that way for these guys for some reason. I played with a bunch of talented "bigger" guys and it was not universal but certainly a trend in that they simply "got" the game much later and seeing them blossom at 22 to 25 versus 20 to 23 as far more the norm than the exception. Just seeing his combination of strength, speed and determination tonight you could see what a force he would be in the playoffs at some point for this team.
-
That is why Bertuzzi was saying that for a big guy like Jake, giving up on him before he is 24 is nuts as it takes these guys that long often.

Virtanen is showing in this game against the Stars everything he can be in the NHL. He is hitting. He is skating. He is scoring. He is setting up plays. He is all the things he can be and is creating all nature of havoc and problems for a big Stars team in their own building. If Jake played this way each game, he would be a 20 plus goal scorer and consistent top 6 player for any team in the league.

You didn't ask for percentages and a RD and RHS had more value for the Canucks at the time and still does.
-
He blew three or four neutral zone coverages and didn't see his own man for a few breakouts but that could largely be to nerves. He needs to tidy up play in his own end but he looked like he belonged.

You, sir/madame, are the pinnacle of class and respect.

Per Todd Bertuzzi a few days ago and so many “bigger” guys I played with and/or against, the emergence in the 24-27 range is common. That timeframe works fine with the Canucks cycle.

For whom? This has been a nice step year for him. I don't see it as painful at all. Getting a full NHL season under his belt while demonstrating all the key things the coaching crew wanted him to improve is massive to his development. It is only painful if you just look at goals and assists and those are in short supply for the team in general. Patience. It is coming. Just a few more seasons and maybe even as early as next year.

I don’t recall people being that high on Hodgson at all but I wasn’t in Vancouver. What EP us doing is so far removed from what Hodgson did in his first pro year.
-
Hodgson was an elite CHL player but always had skating issues. Schroeder was only compared to Kane in that they were both human beings born in the same country.
-
He showed push back a number of times and was very hard to hit - and they were keying on him. He seems quite a tough kid and shows zero hesitancy to get into the dirty areas. I know it is early for him but he sure reminds me of much taller Patrick Kane at same age.
-
Are you premature about everything?

Some of you guys are hilarious. Imagine you will all disappear once he is in NHL and starring for your team. Kid is is having one of the best rookie seasons in his league at this position all-time and was a man among boys at WJC.

Don't agree at all. If you simply invest the indices (which many portfolios of blue chips will do), the overall trend over past 100 years has been very up. Sure there are bumps but if people don't panic and dollar-cost-average, a compound return of 8 to 10% should happen for even the most conservative investor in solid stocks. -
Yes, I seriously do. I cannot speak for anyone else but, yes, I do think that. I think trading Virtanen now would be insane and giving up on OJ would be even moreso.
-
REally depends. Every player is different but he seems to be one of those highly cerebral types who likely has his mental game ready for the pros but will need to let his maturation into being an adult physically take the time it takes. He looks like he could end up being a solid 220 plus type of guy who is mobile. Kid has a huge frame.
-
And some will try and provide you that, some will try and give you updates on unrelated players, and some will continue to question his being a Canuck draft pick at all. He continues to have an outstanding rookie year in that league, in fact one of the best rookie years by any Dman in the league's history, and it is building off a strong performance where he was his country's best Dman at the WJC. For his first year as a professional, it has gone extremely well and assuming he is healthy and not too banged up, he will be getting a lot more games for you to hear about.

If he wants Kinder Morgan to happen, take on the BC Government. Come out and say to the people of Canada when it will happen. Give assurance. I like that people like yourself, who I consider a reasoned individual, are confident in him. I will keep looking for better signs but I have too many family members who have been impacted by his policies (or lack thereof) at this point to see past that and perhaps that is my bias. -
Makes a number of us then!

Does for some apparently. Human sources cannot be imaginary but they can be magical. They can also have a great sense of humour and enjoyed reading about their non-existence!
