  1. Good to hear - someone else gets to be Brenda and you can sleep soundly and not curled up in the corner. Cheers!
  2. Not sure but he is on pretty well ever consensus list I have seen for the WJC 2018 team.
  3. Sounds like either a spy in a Robert Ludlum book or a porn star.
  4. I see the Canucks picking Boner and with signing Stecher that they are fine with smaller puck moving D but they want the lower risk types. Subban plays like a cat chasing a laser pointer when it comes to the puck versus following lanes and trading D assignments on the fly. While I agree Boner is a few years away, not sure you can have a lot of similar players in the hopper and using contracts (assuming this one signs at some point) and something about Subban, even with Green as coach, concerns me.
  5. But you can get signed to 30 year contract and then get injured.....
  6. He is outside of Benning's hotel on a roof in army fatigues and some kind of a "plan" that likely ends up with him meeting a new friend who calls him "Brenda" for the next 6 to 9 months.....
  7. and Stecher can pound McDavid......
  8. ...but does he have a Twitter account....
  9. That video sure looks like Bertuzzi in many ways.
  10. Best pure goalie talent in the draft but not the size of most goalies today in NHL. Was probably the reason Windsor won the Memorial Cup so clearly can play on a big stage. He will most likely be 1 or 1A for Canada's WJ team next year so will be interesting to see how the next step goes for him. Playing style reminds me a lot of J Quick.
  11. This is Stecher version 2.0. Stecher went undrafted as NHL was in denial about size issues changing in faster game today. This pick doesn't bode well for Subban necessarily however.
  12. Bleacher report to hockey knowledge is equivalent to what Dennis Rodman is to international relations. Both like to make noise and be heard but neither have much of an idea what they are actually doing.
  13. I like this pick more than ANY made by the team so far. This kid already has a man's body suited for NHL, a pro shot and if he can work with Bo Hornet's skating coach this is a player that can be a Lucic but with hands. May actually surprise people as being the player from this draft class for Canucks that makes NHL debut first. Strikes me as a very hard player to play against and one that will make space for others on the ice. Great pick Jim. I am still am not thrilled at not having Glass picked yesterday but this almost makes up for it!
  14. If he was a Canuck I would be unhappy as I like following Vancouver and I don't respect Tkachuk as a player. Same when Canucks had Torres, I followed them a bit at that point and I didn't like the fact he was on their team. From that London team two years ago, OJ was a class act compared to Tkachuk and when Canucks said "From London Knights" I was worried it would be MT but good thing it wasn't. Fact he went to Flames was double bonus as I only really dislike a few teams in league and Calgary is one of those.
  15. Your team wins back to back PCups and was in playoffs/contention for more than a decade and you don't find that sufficient? Many franchises would dream of such. Two wins away from a Cup just six year ago....only a handful of times to SCF in past decade. Wow, you are easy to please.
  16. Virtanen has a bit of Tkachuk in him that is true but no where near the extreme. As far as his teammates, I don't know and didn't say I did. I said I think it will wear thin on them as it does with those sorts of players. I have had those sorts on my teams over my time playing and no one misses them when they are gone and no one likes how they rile up the other team. I am not "acting" about anything, I am offering an opinion and one you clearly don't agree with which is up to you as a Flames fan.
  17. Proof on MT? His attitude this year, what people in the league say about him and the style of game he plays. Don't like his style or his overall game.
  18. Not going to enter your lively debate but OJ has a far higher ceiling than Tkachuk. Tkachuk will wear thin on teammates as quickly as he has on a lot of the league and watch him have lots of regression next season and have far from much success as a career. OJ looks like a top 4 and even top pairing Dman. Tkachuk is a one act Sean Avery type of player.
  19. While this might indeed be true, it does make them sound like red wine brands.
  20. I thought Glass was a good fit for Vancouver but he was also a safe pick. The actual pick that Canucks made is not a safe one but the ceiling is probably about as high as any player in the draft over their current baseline (e.g. room to actually grow). Kid oozes skill, speed and smarts and his shootout moves are sick. This pick will rub the instant gratification crowd the wrong way but I can see that Benning and his squad took at shot here and it appears he is going all in on high skill, speed etc. I would think those wanting Canucks to draft best available player in terms of upside, you probably are very happy tonight.
  21. Why do people keep putting Dahlen on a first line in the NHL. He was Ottawa's fifth best prospect and the jury is out that this guy will ever make NHL. He would be lucky to come close to any of the other names you have on your "lines" in terms of making AHL/NHL.
  22. Uh, sure. No one can judge a draft for at least two or three years and then only for some of the players. This pick seems to be an aggressive one as upside is massive but risk too that he doesn't develop physically. This is like the Leaf's picking Nylander kind of move. Nylander was also "too soft, too small" and yet this draft by Canucks will actually be bigger likely. Anyway, I wanted Glass too but that was a safe pick. I did not want Vilardi - he is not impressing me at all.
  23. Fair enough but you will never agree with every player choice, every coach choice or every choice of management personnel when you are following a team. Even fans of teams at top of their cycle will have components that they don't agree with. I just have never understood ultimatum statements that are not followed with a "then I will..." or similar to indicate what that finality will lead to.
