  1. LOL. You don't even watch the team do you. Here is some random stuff (I am too lazy to dig for someone being so obtuse). Simply go to the last goal in the bunch for but one example. They guy rarely scores a goal from more than 10 feet from the goal line - lots of that due to winning puck battles. Great on the boards too.
  2. If I was a goalie "expert" I would have a better resume from playing and would have job like Ian Clark. I digress however. Knight is intriguing. Mentally strongest net prospect I have ever seen at that age. So happy Panthers grabbed him as he projects incredibly well. For his size he is lightning quick laterally but the most impressive thing about him in my mind is he already has pro rebound control and has figured out the importance of angles with stick/pads/gloves in a way that most don't do in their pre-pro portion of their career. Of course no-one is a lock most certainly not an 18 year old goalie prospect (Rick D says hi), but when you combine his size, speed, natural instincts and mental presence he is as close to the perfect goalie prospect as you can have. I look for him to challenge Demko's Boston College rookie marks (which were insane) and even exceed them and if you don't recall, Demko was seen at that point as a revelation. Speaking of Demko, I am not sure I would trade him right now. He has shown all the signs of being what people have said he would be at each step of his career. Ian Clark is a revelation as well and I could see Demko emerging as the most important piece of Vancouver's youth puzzle in that a franchise goalie plays all 60 minutes and not just 22 or so for a franchise Cman. Finally, Bouchard. I am on the record and remain there on this kid. I think he is an outstanding (dominant) player at CHL level on NHL sized ice. On international ice he was challenged and in NHL I hope he adjusts (by all accounts a great kid) but while he will put up points, I am not sure he is going to be a true NHL standout as his mobility (which was exposed badly at the WJC earlier this year) isn't something that often improves with big Dmen. Put it this way, IF the Canucks had not taken Hughes and he and Dobson were both there, if I were Vancouver GM (and you will be happy I am not.....), I would have taken Dobson.
  3. Going to the tough areas to fight for pucks and score is "grit". It isn't grit like hitting or such but it is grit. He is far from a perimeter player. Far, far from a perimeter player.
  4. Baer scores more "gritty" goals than almost any other Canuck. Look at any summary of his goals and how they are scored. Baer seems to be a polarizing player but doubt many will find fault in terms of playing in the tough areas.
  5. This was posted when you were here with your former incarnation so surprised you don't remember it: http://www.tsn.ca/radio/vancouver-1040-i-1410/ferraro-travis-green-is-a-great-communicator-innovative-progressive-1.734502 From that you will get the word "great communicator" a number of times including this: Something that Ferraro talks about is the reason he is able to get through to so many different players is because he has been so many different types of players throughout his life. He was always a great communicator but on top of that he has been the, lazy offensive scoring guy, the grind it out and play defence guy, the hard working guy, etc. He is very innovative in his thinking because he has personally been through it all and understands how to communicate and get to the kid.
  6. Stop interviewing him..........
  7. How did that translate to playoff success? NO other team in the West that qualified for the playoffs won fewer playoff games ..... they were healthy and they (narrowly) won ONE playoff game. As much as you hate them, you seem to have a short memory about their lack of success as well.
  8. As this year showed, EVERY team that made the playoffs was a legitimate contender. Bruins get their Chara injury one round earlier, Carolina may be in the final....for but one example. In the CAP era, you get a hot goalie(s) and some luck with injuries, you make it into the playoffs and you have a legitimate chance.
  9. I remain bitterly disappointed Jim ignored our superior input in both cases.......
  10. Whatever floats your boat. If you want to check these sorts of signings, the data is public but I doubt self-education is a pursuit of yours if it conflicts with a pre-conceived narrative. Again, this has NOTHING to do with anyone's experience, signings (dates, amounts, terms etc.) is all public. Not sure what part of that escapes you irrespective of language you are sorting this out with in your brain. Good luck with it.
  11. Ah, you remember. When he was not as coveted by the Flyers (rumour had it), I wanted Canucks or Panthers to jump in and rumour (again) was that tires were kicked but nothing ever materialized obviously.
  12. Well, there goes sales for Victoria's Secret.........
  13. He's 17 - who didn't have a bat sh*t crazy girlfriend (or two) at that age?
  14. TS is a player I would think would excel in Vancouver given the forward group.
  15. Nope, I didn't need to. It is something I follow closely because of the nature of what I do so know very well the historical nature of such player contracts. I may well have "nothing to do" but at least I get paid to do it!
  16. I am not prepared to say it is a brilliant move - I think it is a bold and risky move that has odds on the Canuck's side but there is a chance it could not work out as well as probability would otherwise suggest. I will say that if the Miller that shows up in September is the one that has been in the league for the past few years, the Canucks will have added a player that they have not seen a lot of in Vancouver for a while, a real power forward who has emerged. Another point some are not raising much is the positive impact this could have on Virtanen - Miller has learned to use his speed, edge and big frame without taking bad penalties but he is a physical presence on the ice and keep heads on swivels.
  17. Agreed and why this one is a protected pick....if they are both lottery picks next two years, yes the dice was rolled and it didn't work...but then only if they do well in the lottery as a 15th or so pick still is unlikely to do more in their career than Miller already has.
  18. JT Miller's points per minute last season, in a checking line role and VERY little PP time, were essentially equivalent to Sean Couturier and was BETTER than (random selection of names people will notice) Kevin Hayes, Brock Boeser, Mathew Barzel, Filip Forsberg, Kyle Connor, Jeff Skinner, Ryan Johansen, Josh Bailey, Evander Kane etc. etc. Compare those contracts and also their point totals.
  19. The Canucks are nowhere near an "Oilers situation". Adding a top 4 Dman should be a priority but they have some significant pieces in place with Hughes, OJ and Stecher and Woo appears to be the real deal. They indeed need to bridge but if Edler is anywhere near the player he was last season, they are far from in a horrid spot.
  20. Or developing the elite prospects you have gathered in previous drafts.......
  21. This has nothing to do with opinions. Facts don't care about opinions - look at these types of players and look at when they typically sign. Look at last ten years. It is a very clear pattern. I know - I was personally in that situation once. Opinion is whether he is a good signing for Vancouver or not. Fact is when these type of signings typically happen - and your invented narrative had nothing to do with typical facts in this regard. NO OPINION involved in that observation....mighty or otherwise.
  22. Yet another invented narrative that flies in the face of facts. What most typically happens with this sort of player is the team tells them to hold tight (there is not extensive demand for them) until after the draft and even until after July 1st as other moves need to happen to clarify CAP space etc. The player/agent are understanding and are appreciative to the team that "rejuvenated" their career but also they want to not miss out on other opportunities so they often have a "gentleman's" agreement to not sign elsewhere in the first few days of FA but not much past about July 4th or 5th. THAT is what happens and is factual.
  23. Why do people invent things? Gallant has no more been fired than Donald Trump has opened a plush day care for illegal immigrant children.
