You need guys that will play for each other to win. -
[Speculation] Lucic says he would like to play here

Not a problem PB and I didn't want to imply that if that is how you read it, just I have heard he sticks to himself and isn't someone many want to be with out at night between games as he has a "reputation" the family guys don't want to be part of. He has a reputation for being surly and not best with younger guys. Mentor is NOT a term you would use yet that is a term EP40 used with LE. Cancer, however, I have not heard that either. -

What a load of crap. The Canucks used Utica with a certain player this year (while, technically, the Marlies) and it will not harm them in UFA one little bit. Not one bit. The business of hockey is inclusive of players knowing very well that if they are not a fit with a team, that movement is possible inclusive of demotion. Seeing other players demoted opens more opportunity for themselves - that is the more common thought process. Not one potential UFA considering Vancouver's offer (if they are making offers this summer) will point to Gagner's situation as a stumbling block. Not one.

Team guy is the guy who teammates love. That is context I used. You will be hard pressed to find anyone LE has ever played with to say anything but extremely good things about him (EP40 has said some of the nicest things). ML on the other hand, not so much. Being out of sync with a coach/system can happen and his response to the reporter sounded fine to me - and obvious to anyone who watches the Canucks play. I have no clue why everyone wants to tie a potential cutting of times with LE to somehow taking on ML. ML is the exact opposite of what the Vancouver Canucks need at this time in their progression. -
The Calder Memorial Trophy NHL Rookie Of The Year
Rob_Zepp replied to ItTakesAnArmy's topic in Canucks Talk
Figured you must have meant the Calder Cup until i saw this which then told us that you don't understand how the award works as it has nothing to do with the playoffs but instead is a measure of the player's contribution over the entirety of their first full regular season in the NHL (with an age restriction that your choice of winner barely meets). In spite of what you call poor play (or whatever silly term you used) for EP40 down the stretch, it was far better play than Binnington showed in the NHL up to Christmas. Far better - in fact so much better it is like Binnington didn't even exist. -

He is exciting to watch for sure and remains an adventure in his own end at times but with some coaching and effort on his part, the North American game is still possible for him but these three years in the peak of his development sure are not helping those chances Alf.

OK, I guess goalies are not that important. Not like they play all 60 minutes of a game versus a 1/3 of it or so for top players. IF the "goalie in you" doesn't see that this guy at his age isn't already as positionally sound as anyone of same age in the entire world, then I don't know what to say. He has all the tools to be truly elite - period. Further, saying Lack and even Cory were more fundamentally sound than Demko flies in the face of every bit of scouting ever done on this kid - from about 15 years old he has always been "that kid with brilliant fundamentals". He is as positionally strong as anyone since Luongo.

I don't recall Edler play in any of the Avtomobilist (Ekaterinburg) games. Tanev either. What numbers did they wear? Tryamkin had the "grenade on his stick" appearance in many games inclusive of the last two playoff games. His GV/TK ratio was very poor all season but got worse in the playoffs.

No, he was not their best defensive dman - not statistically and not to the eye. He was not great a clearing the zone whatsoever, just look at both is zone exit and turnover stats. Their best defensive dman was by far Vasilevsky. Vishnevsky was far and away their best offensive Dman but Vasilvsky their best overall Dman both regular season and playoffs....in terms of block shots, zone exists etc. and was up their with Tryamkin for hits/game and total hits. Statistically, both end of the rink, the big guy had a lesser season this past year than the year before.

[Speculation] Lucic says he would like to play here
Rob_Zepp replied to Provost's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Yup, that is the guy. I have not a clue what that has to do with his relationship with his teammates but whatever makes you feel in control of a narrative you have invented, you go with it! -
Yup, I did. NT was a turnover machine.
-
Fetisov - the Hall of Famer? He didn't go back and forth and please don't compare NT with VF. I am keen on seeing him too (NT), just tempered on what it will look like. Not a chance he is a 1/2 in NHL based upon his play past few years.

Not the same contract at all. With expansion draft, they are ENTIRELY different contracts. LE being a Canuck and ML being a Canuck need have no relationship whatsoever.

He could be mentally taxed by that for sure. It is not joke - some teams/cities will literally suck the life from guys. -

That is also correct. -

You have your opinion. Everyone one has a different one I don't try and align with "panel guys", I go with what I see and know. Some guys are team guys and some guys are not. LE is a team guy. ML is not. My opinion. You are more than welcome to disagree. -
Contract is horrible. That alone tips the scales.

Think how many he would have it he was faster? -
OK, you would have said same if Philip Larsen was on that list....right? Philip Holm? Cody Franson? Patrick Wiercioch? These are just a sample of four guys in KHL who Canuck fans know who ALL were ranked ahead of the big guy last year for their play. ALL of them. Would Canuck nation be that excited for any of these guys coming back? I get the fascination with his size and surprising mobility at that size - I like that too - but that isn't enough to overcome fact he has a ways to go to get where he needs to be in NHL. Once again (and for 100th time at least), I am keen on this guy succeeding. I am far from convinced, however, based upon facts that he will do it easily and I see all the hype as not going to help his cause.

One word for you - Krutov. Sorry, that was mean. ALL the examples people give are for forwards. Dmen simply do not develop in KHL like they do in North America. All I am asking people to do is give the kid a chance IF he comes to develop...he will need that time/space and added to his challenge will be bad habits learned during three key years where he was not in North America.
