I wouldn't let the whole group know anything about this. I'd just email the prof (too awkward in person), and let him know what's up. Proceed like nothing happened in front of her.

Rating your own members is one the laziest things ever. More often than not, people aren't honest about the voting.

I think what would have worked best is to be proactive. If the person is not contributing have a 3 warning system.. 1) warning group tells person to contribute or else. 2) If person does not comply group has vote on whether to kick out person from the group. 3)Last chance prof gets involved decides how to handle the situation.

I'd say that out of all the group assignments I've had to do in my undergrad (at least 20+), I think only one project had an individual component. The one I have now is no different... one mark per group.

I was blessed when I went to post-secondary that I had the same group members for 2 years. We developed really good chemistry and always did a great job on our projects and presentations.. couldn't imagine doing it with different people all the time. I probs would of dropped out without their support

I get what you're saying Denguin but I have to say, the two people that do the work are the ones that get the job at the end, and the ones that float are the ones that complain they have a BA and can't find a job. Job interviews in today's corporate world weed out the floaters. As a former guy who ended up doing all the work, I agree it sucks dirty balls, and there is no lesson for you, the lesson is for the people you worked to get a decent grade for.

4th years register today. It's not a horrible idea... it's done a lot. I got a friend to already, so thanks anyway guys.

The tactic works as such:

1) Person 1 registers course and "holds" it

2) Person 2's registration time comes around

3) Person 1 drops, and Person 2 registers the course within a few seconds of Person 1's drop.

I've known people who did that and it didn't work.

Only time when it wouldn't work is if the course has a waitlist. If there's no waitlist, it's practically foolproof.

Yeah it's pretty damn fun if you do it once in a while. No traffic and pitch blackness at decent speeds... Usually we round up 5-6 cars. Street racing is a definite no-no for some... a Mazda 3 doesn't quite have the power for that .

Which school are you going to, again? I know you graduated high school last year. I'll be starting my fifth and final year next September. Should be pretty easy with only 5 courses between the two semesters.

I'm out at UBC studying Kinesiology. Decided to get English over with so I wouldn't have to do so many of those readings during the year... but UBC makes a 4 month course into a 1 month course in the summer term. Definitely wish I dropped it!

Cool. My mom took kinesiology for her first couple years at university before being accepted into physiotherapy school. I've been over at UBC a few times this summer semester to visit my girlfriend who's taking summer courses as well.
