  1. Me too; however, that'd result in the scrapping of the program (which would screw all the commuters over). The only way they can afford to create such subsidized passes is by charging everybody for it, unfortunately.
  2. Is that right? Okay, that would make more sense then. My bad.
  3. Incorrect, you would only pay 1 one zone fare. You have 90 minutes of travel included with your fare. So it's not a waste of time. 3-zone fare vs. 1-zone fare. Big difference that adds up over time.
  4. Apparently Translink is open to the idea of introducing a fare-by-distance system, but first they want to collect data on ridership via the Compass system.
  5. Technically you'd only pay for 1 one zone fare, since you still have 90 minutes of travel time on your fare. So it's a one zone fare versus however many zones from King George to Waterfront.
  6. So you don't have to jump a fare gate?
  7. Not like this is a "new" discovery... Any half-brained person could have seen that one. Not only is it do-able with the rail system, but also on a bus. Simply "tap out" without actually getting out before a zone crossing, and you'll only be charged for the lesser fare. Say I'm travelling from Downtown to YVR (Sea Island is its own zone, I'm sure you're aware). I can tap in at Waterfront, tap out at Marine Drive without exiting the station, hop back on the train and ride it to YVR. 1 fare zone paid, 2 fare zones travelled.
  8. Two problems: 1) Muscle imbalances. You can't simply just work one muscle group over and over without working the antagonist/the rest of your body. Make sure you balance it out by working out your back as often, for example. You're making yourself susceptible to injury if you continue along this path. 2) Lack of recovery. At the end of the day, muscle repair is the reason for seeing your long-term "gains". If you don't allow proper recovery to occur, you're not doing yourself any favours. That said, some people recover quicker than others... But as a safe bet, you'll want to leave at least a couple days between working out the same muscle groups.
  9. The temp replacement is already in. As for traffic flow, you're required to use a much slower speed limit... But from what I understand, it's not that big a problem.
  10. That's the responsibility you take with you when you have a pet. You can't choose to care for it whenever you find it convenient to. You can't take vacations without making prior arrangements, you can't shun it when you're having a bad day, and you sure as hell can't leave it in the car to bake while you enjoy a meal.
  11. Good on you. Although next time, you should've called the cops to come so they'd smash one of her windshields (or do it yourself). That'd serve her right. A window replacement, plus a shelter fee for the dog would probably be a good reminder for her next time. They should make it illegal to leave pets in cars... It's no different than leaving an unattended child in there. They deserve the right to lose their pet(s) 100%.
  12. I think the worst part is the humidity... Just always feels... Sticky.
  13. Did NESN cover the finals? Kind of want to hear that homer's call of the final two minutes last night.

  14. Would you date someone who used to sleep around/cheat?

  15. Southern Alberta is getting hit pretty hard right now... Evacuations in several towns as big as Canmore are underway, and a few kilometres of the Trans Canada has been shut down indefinitely.
  16. Can anyone at UBC in 4th year hold a course spot for me?

4th years register today. It's not a horrible idea... it's done a lot. I got a friend to already, so thanks anyway guys.

      The tactic works as such:

      1) Person 1 registers course and "holds" it

      2) Person 2's registration time comes around

      3) Person 1 drops, and Person 2 registers the course within a few seconds of Person 1's drop.

    3. Where's Wellwood

      Where's Wellwood

I've known people who did that and it didn't work.

Only time when it wouldn't work is if the course has a waitlist. If there's no waitlist, it's practically foolproof.

  17. Quick question regarding the YVR surcharge. Say I have a 1-zone faresaver, and I'm travelling from the airport on the Canada Line. Would I have to simply just pay the fare upgrade to 2 zone, or would I have to pay the upgrade + $5 YVR surcharge as well?
  18. You know the game is bad when 6 people sitting in front of you are debating about religion instead of watching.

  19. Rain + wind is the worst! Was absolutely pouring at UBC, so I brought out my umbrella... Wind broke it within minutes. Showed up to my 3 hour class absolutely drenched!
  20. Too bad we don't have Wellwood anymore for the shootout...

Higgins is looking good out there... the Canucks need to remember that speed is what scores, speed is what backs the goalkeeper up. You can go way out to the side but without speed its just more time to make a save. Unless you have hands like P. Kane or Wellwood you must use speed!!

    2. Tortorella's Rant

      Tortorella's Rant

His incompetence the rest of the time far outweighs the odd goal he might score in the shootout.

  22. Can't decide if I want UBC to cancel my exam... I'm not entirely ready, but I don't really want to study all over again in the new year...
  23. At least 6-7 cm on the ground at UBC. Roads aren't too bad... But definitely slick. Fire trucks have been going all morning from around 6... I'm guessing those weren't medical assists for drunk kids.
  24. Too bad the temperatures aren't quite cold enough for it to stick around very long...
