Sunday's open seems like a good time to gun any stops above the old highs.

Earnings calendar for Thursday, July 30 looks interesting.
    • Amazon
    • Apple
    • Alphabet

That's only a combined market cap of $4,140,000,000,000 dollars reporting within minutes.

Scary in my opinion. Should be a reporting a good quarter (for executives and shareholders) because of quarantine. Investors will spin it positively despite the uncertainty in the world.

Apparently the only economic constant in a pandemic is that executives still get bonuses and workers still get screwed.

  2. Map probably looks that way because the Provinces report in collectively. And the relatively small numbers aren't worth it for them to break it down further.

BC should look similar to Washington State, concentrated in areas and smaller areas around it.

    Still clearly going up worldwide.

  3. A scary example of how serious this virus is. Specifically how dangerous it is to the lungs.

One of treatment of serious cases has been ECMO. In short pumping blood from somewhere else, adding oxygen then pumping it back to the lungs.  :o

    Quote

Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, also known as extracorporeal life support, is an extracorporeal technique of providing prolonged cardiac and respiratory support to persons whose heart and lungs are unable to provide an adequate amount of gas exchange or perfusion to sustain life. Wikipedia

    I, too, feel this way.

This is a "large gathering" beyond what is recommended for group settings.  Not sure why we can't have measures in place to ensure protests are done "safely".

Here, I trust the doctors. They are making tough calls. Like outdoor protest vs shopping at Costco? IDK. Both? Neither? It's a tough call. Tough because you have to trust people to be smart.

In the US? Remember by the time the BLM riots occurred most states had already lifted restrictions. Beaches, malls, etc.... full. Arizona for example lifted restrictions on May 15th, 10 days before the incidents in Minneapolis.

  5. Sorry for the threadjack.

Why does anyone take a person with blackface as their signature seriously?

Nothing wrong with being anti-Trudeau. But that's all you got? Nothing fresh? We can only imagine how happy you must have been when you first saw that picture. Says a lot about you.

What's the word on CV-19? Is there a huge spike in the cases since the protests?

The US should be worried about this. The protests are important. But the mass gatherings are still dangerous.

The situation is Canada and the US is different at the moment. Canada and other countries, flatten the curve. The US has given up on many levels. They tried. But could not trend down.

There's only so much individuals can do, the failure in leadership in the US made flattening the curve impossible.

We can only hope for the best.

  7. Off topic but I wonder if marijuana will ever let be grown free in the wild?

In the wild, the male plants pollinate the females which result in seeds which drop to the ground for the next cycle. But it's common practice for cash crops to cull male plants and rely on cloning. So most crops rely on humans.

I'd like to see it grow free one day. As free as a cherry tree.

  8. TransLink recommends masks on public transit, as it begins to restore pre-COVID-19 service levels

TransLink will also be monitoring passenger loads in order to deploy additional service at times and on routes where physical distancing is more difficult.

Commuters are recommended to travel outside of peak times, allow for more time in their commute and stay off transit entirely when sick.

  9. Dr. Theresa Tam provided the updated advice during her daily news conference in Ottawa today.

"For the spring and summer months, strict adherence to the public health basics of physical distancing, handwashing and cough etiquette must continue as the bare minimum," she said.

"In addition, where COVID-19 activity is occurring, use of non-medical masks or face coverings is recommended as an added layer of protection when physical distancing is difficult to maintain. And staying home when sick is a must, always and everywhere."

Yes but if used properly, remembering that we're in the midst of a pandemic, they are a layer of protection. It's all about learning new habits.

The warning is about the false sense of security not the effectiveness of masks.

Wear a mask if you can. But be equally careful. The worry is some think a mask will protect them so they won't.

There is an update this afternoon on masks. So things may change.

    What a load of rubbish.

Yah, ask just like motorcycles drivers should be allowed to ride on the freeway with out helmets.

NFL players should be allowed no helmets if they choose.

Both just provide a false sense of security.

LOL .    Health Canada and the WHO have lost the plot

Health Canada is doing an exceptional job. Backed by data. They have my trust. They earned it.

You? You think a mask is helmet.

You really believe that?  Some do, for sure.

Of course I believe that. What a strange question.

I'm guessing you just wanted to argue that not "all" people are helping. Which is not what I wrote. You just assumed that on your own to create an arguing point..... What a waste of time.

  13. Unfortunately this thread highlights the ugly side of people.

Out in the real world people make efforts to help each other in times of crisis. I guess those not as helpful in the real world feel a need to overcompensate for it on the internet.

  14. Car Hops are awesome. Some combination of car hop and food trucks would be amazing.

I need decent Pho. Pizza, A&W, Chinese food are good as take-out. Even dim sum, surprisingly. Most food is. Pho and Fish and Chips, much better at the restaurant.

  15. "Two employees at a McDonald's in Oklahoma City were shot and a third was injured after a woman allegedly became angry after learning that she was not allowed to dine inside the restaurant due to coronavirus restrictions."

May be the most American sentence I've ever seen.

  16. When I go shopping. The clerks aren't wearing masks. I trust their judgement. There are no rules for masks that I see where I shop.

If masks were required I'd have no problem with that. It was pretty common in Asia before all this. I remember though, seeing a person with a mask you tended to think that person has cold or something. So my first reaction is stay away from people with masks.

I want to nail down his ideas behind this.  It's all over the map (apparently, so was my mumbo jumbo post that I've edited - note to self, don't post before coffee).

    That's an option?
