  1. Don't waste your time. 1 word. Attention. A person who needs attention so much they need to find a forum in another country. And argues with local members and the Mod from that forum. There are better ways of getting attention than constantly arguing generalized, contrarian viewpoints. But it's easy and makes lazy people feel smart.
  2. For context. What that sign represents.
  3. I was reading on possible vaccine development out there and noticed mRNA1273 has only been tested on 45 people. https://www.nasdaq.com/articles/shot-roster%3A-covid-19-vaccines-in-human-trials-2020-04-30 https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-care/here-are-3-drugs-development-fight-coronavirus-2-vaccines-one-n1163191

  5. Right now, when public gatherings could be dangerous you have to inform people not to be at City Hall or wherever at that time. So the priority of the report is different. Personally I'm for exposing the fringe groups and conspiracy nuts. The surge now is connected to decades of attempting to ignore and laugh things off. But racism and domestic terror is obviously a much more serious problem than being reported. And there are a lot of connections between fringe groups, conspiracy nuts and anti Islamic, anti Semitic and white nationalists. Q-Anon is an example where authorities started to take it seriously only after seeing signs and shirts at the rallies.
  6. Simple Minds. Good band. Obnoxious Internet Tough Guy. Not as good.
  7. "US far right seeks ways to exploit coronavirus and cause social collapse". This topic has reemerged due to a failed bombing attempt at a hospital last month and because they are trying to take credit for the mass shooting in NS. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/05/us-far-right-seeks-ways-to-exploit-coronavirus-and-cause-social-collapse https://www.vice.com/en_ca/article/939xwy/neonazis-and-conspiracy-theorists-are-seizing-upon-the-nova-scotia-shooting
  8. Not only are they dealing with the pandemic down South, https://news.google.com/articles/CAIiEFFgx-0IQ38yF0o4jDTQyr4qGQgEKhAIACoHCAowjsP7CjCSpPQCMKCK0wU?hl=en-CA&gl=CA&ceid=CA%3Aen
  9. On the topic of US schools, did you know yesterday the US claimed this March was the first without a school shooting in 18 years? Then had to walk it back with, actually there were 4 accidental discharges, a few just off grounds and a few involving adults.... Even when schools are shut down, there are school shootings.
  10. Looking at all the different countries, one thing is clear, distancing is working to limit the spread of infection. The numbers are indisputable. Experts and politicians deserve a lot of credit but it's the collective effort and sacrifice by all people who have made this work. Those that aren't on the same page in this situation.... when are they ever going to be?
  11. Highly recommend this report by the BBC Visual and Data Journalism Team. Very comprehensive yet simple to read. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-51235105?intlink_from_url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world/europe&link_location=live-reporting-story
  12. There are no "Beijing supporters" in this thread as far as I see. If there is please provide an example. Personally I think it reveals more about the people who see it this way. But maybe that's just me.
  13. Not sure if "gaslighting" is the correct term for advertising firms. Everyone knows it's what they're paid to do. I think it's more along the lines of "back to business" or "business as usual". It would be surprising if they didn't try to capitalize on it.
  14. Today I learned, Shakespeare wrote King Lear under quarantine from the Plague around 1606. Walt Disney, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Haile Selassie I, Franz Kafka, Edvard Munch and Georgia O'Keeffe are listed as notable survivors of the Spanish flu. Horace and John Dodge (founders of Dodge), Gustav Klimt and Fredrick Trump, grandfather of Trump are listed as notable victims.
  15. Going to church? That's a lot to put on God. If there was a tornado, you'd move out of the way and pray. Going towards the tornado and praying might send mixed signals.
  16. Shout out to Save On Foods and London Drugs. Every time I go, all the employees are cheerful. Even though you know they've had the same conversation over and over again a thousand times.
  17. World: "Please don't spread misinformation" Idiots: "Hold my beer after I cough on it"
  18. Oops. Seriously though. There's a sample of the sound at the top. It would scare anyone. https://abc30.com/health/police-in-louisiana-town-uses-purge-siren-to-signal-curfew/6078614/
  19. The majority of people are looking for reliable information. If all your posts are to argue about the reliability of generally accepted sources, you're in the wrong place. Try 4chan or Reddit. The time to act like a bad ass who isn't listening to the doctors, experts and government is over. You are now a threat and an enemy of the general public.
  20. 3M's response to Trump's order to stop selling mask to Canada and Latin America.
  21. I just want to say our neighbours suck. The US is a nation of selfishness. And this pandemic has shown how different they are from other countries of the world. At the best of times they bully Canada on trade. During a pandemic, they react too slowly and THEY send troops to the border? And are now cutting off equipment made in the US. With friends like that who needs enemies?
  22. Thailand will start a Nation wide curfew tomorrow. https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/1891810/nationwide-night-curfew-starts-friday And in the Philippines, https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-philippines-dutert/shoot-them-dead-philippine-leader-says-wont-tolerate-lockdown-violators-idUSKBN21K0AY?il=0
  23. A pretty famous celebrity in Japan passed away from the virus today. Ken Shimura. https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/celebrities/2020/03/30/ken-shimura-dies-coronavirus-japanese-comic-70-years-old/5085889002/
  24. Too bad they can't coordinate all the road construction while traffic is low.
