2017 NHL Draft - Chicago, Illinois June 23-24 2017
Canada Hockey Place replied to hyper00's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
IMO this draft looks similar to 2010. Strong top 2 consensus but hard to gauge the rest. Here's how 2010 went down. Taylor Hall Tyler Seguin Erik Gudbranson Ryan Johansen Nino Niederreiter Brett Connolly Jeff Skinner Alexander Burmistrov Mikael Granlund Dylan McIlrath Interestingly only Skinner and Granlund are still with the team that drafted them. -
Is Global War Fast Approaching?

Obviously no one. But that hasn't stopped anyone before. Megalomaniacs always think they can win. And they think of losing a few of their own people is a win-win. -
Is Global War Fast Approaching?
Canada Hockey Place replied to Nuxfanabroad's topic in Off-Topic General
Only a handful of people in this world want war. They are all self-serving sociopaths. War. What is good for? Nothing*. *except to those who seek to profit from others death and misery. -
Investing in the stock market - Discussion
Canada Hockey Place replied to AV's Coin's topic in Off-Topic General
I have 2 tips. 1. Never take trade tips from anyone. Come to your own decisions. Would you give your ideas to strangers for free? 2. Learn about high frequency trading and algos. When stocks move against fundamentals it's usually due to HFTs. Even as a small retail investor, if you ignore this factor you may end up on the wrong side even if all signs say you're on the right side. http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/wall-street-code/ http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/quants-alchemists-wall-street/ -
I don't remember the last time a D prospect made the team out of preseason. Maybe Ohlund? Most D are called up mid season due to injury. And since there were no significant injuries to start the year Hutton just straight out earned a spot with Edler, Tanev, Hamhuis, Sbisa, Bartowski and Weber healthy. IMO Hutton may already the 2nd best 2-way D on this team after Edler. So that's impressive. But OTOH it does highlight how weak the D depth is this year. And this is before any injuries.

Sense8 on Netflix is pretty good. Science fiction drama TV series but with a big movie budget. IMO probably the best Wachowski project since the first Matrix.

Branded (2012) I thought it was good. Made me think. A lot of reviews say it sucks though. So it may not be for everyone. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1368440/

Go Caps. I wonder what the crowd is going to be like at BC place? Also Montreal Impact goalie might be suspended(?) Might need to bring in a keeper on loan for next CL game - http://www.goal.com/en-ca/news/4186/concacaf-champions-league/2015/04/25/11080792/montreal-impact-face-potential-goalkeeper-emergency-ahead-of -
I find a lot of the dialog in the show has become kind of stale and mostly unnecessary. And as a result really don't care what happens in most of story lines. I noticed a pattern that I tend to like the dialog most when 2 people are travelling together. ie Arya & the Hound, Jaime & Brienne, Tyrion & Bronn, Tyrion & anyone else. Weird. It's the exact opposite of how I felt about the Lord of Rings movies. This Game of Thrones could have been avoided. If the Starks chose Arya to marry Joffery instead of Sansa. Joffrey: "Arya, go make me a sandwich." Arya: "OK. Let me go grab my sword."

Recently watch Kicking and Screaming. It's a kids film. Not that original. But more entertaining if you imagine the following parallels: Will Farrell = Tortorella. The Italian brothers = Swedish twins. The worm eating kid = Burrows. The weird blond kid = David Booth.

Geez. How many drafts are there? Expansion, dispersal, waiver, re-entry, Superdraft..... ? They hold a dispersal draft for Chivas, which most teams pass, then they hold a waiver draft and the only players selected are from Chivas? -

Now talks of Robinho joining Kaka in Brazil with Santos on loan, then Orlando next season. The 2 expansion teams are going all out. -

Wow. David Villa and Lampard + one more DP slot open. Also I guess some form of expansion draft for Orlando and NYCFC. That might suck for the Whitecaps. -

Typical VAN media spin. Heroes to the trolls. Nothing more than idiot attention seekers to the rest of us.

Probably a tough call but can't really question this move. It's a move forward. Didn't Grabovski get married the week before he was bought-out too? Imagine if they sign Grabovski.. That'd be kind of ironic.

So can we assume A V wasn't the problem?
Canada Hockey Place replied to jerkstore1972's topic in Canucks Talk
Vigneault's playoff record against Western coaches while in VAN. vs Sutter 0-1 vs Quennville 1-2 vs Carlyle (fired) 0-1 vs Mclellan (fired) 1-1 vs Trotz (fired) 1-0 vs Tippet (fired) 1-0 vs A. Murray (fired) 1-0 vs T. Murray (fired) 1-0 My point is Vigneault isn't the only coach to get fired. Notice how both remaining coaches have won Cups recently. So let's try to understand, he wasn't fired because he was bad. He was fired to make room for someone new. Just like every other team except recent winners. -
[Report] Canucks wont ask Alex Edler to waive NTC
Canada Hockey Place replied to AriGold's topic in Canucks Talk
Shooting % for D doesn't mean much. Usually just means the power play units aren't doing too well. From the point, you need teammates to make space, clear the lane, create traffic in front of the goalie and pass you the puck. Additionally, most point shots are set plays for deflections. If it's deflected by a team mate, the shooter gets an assist but the shot doesn't improve shooting %. But if you've seen a hockey game before I would assume you would already know that. -

In 2011, BOS wanted the Cup more.. After the loss, the fans directed their frustration on their own team. Outside perception was the Canucks dived and whined their way into the finals. In contrast the '94 run was a team fans considered to have wanted the cup equally or more than the Rangers. And after the loss, the frustration was directed at the opposition and the NHL. Outside perception was the Canucks fought their way into the finals. The 2 runs will be remembered in different ways. A lot of fans look at 2011 fondly. I don't. Gillis and Vigneault did what they were hired to do. And in 2011 they delivered. I can't say (in hindsight and only because they lost) that I was proud to support that team. It felt weird the whole run TBH. -

I wonder if it would be worth it to consider trading this pick for RFAs? Like to TBL for Connolly and/or Aulie. -

Should we re-sign Mike Santorelli?
Canada Hockey Place replied to Junkyard Dog's topic in Canucks Talk
Please. Santorelli should be priority #1 IMO. Tanev & Kassian being Restricted, can wait. Santorelli being Unrestricted, makes me a bit nervous.... If Booth stays and Santorelli isn't re-signed, I would be very disappointed.
