  1. My Dad is the most amazing man I know. In his 80's, he had to have an already replaced hip redone - a very tough operation as everything was cemented in and had to be removed first.  They started the op only to discover...he also had a fractured femur!  No wonder he's been struggling and in pain!  But he silently sucked it up and still tried to garden and care for his cat.

@johngould21  Yeah, my mother tended to hoard things so I had my work cut out for me moving all sorts of junk/accumulated stuff over the years out of their house (to make sure they had more clear areas - the less clutter, the less chance they might bump into something & fall down).

My Dad is a minimalist but my brother and his son had lived in his basement and...the same.  Stuff everywhere!  I've been hauling it out for 3 days now.  My God, the guy has at least 25 fishing rods!

Best wishes to you and your Dad. As my mom said, "Growing old isn't for wimps".

I still can't believe when my Aunt she was diagnosed with Lung Cancer (I never knew she smoked!) she told the doctor, don't bother using surgery on me, use it for someone younger. Surviving for 4 years, in pain taking care of her garden and dogs, with nothing more than Tylenol. Before passing away last year.

Selfless, tough, and a great person. She worked for a while in parking at the Coliseum for the Vancouver Giants. And referred to them as "her boys".

Lived with the same guy for 40 years, never married, but were happier than most married couples.

      Take care of each other.
