I'm not convinced this is a "Canucks" issue as much as .... it happens with injuries. And surgeries don't always turn out exactly as we'd like. My family's had more botched stuff than they have successes. Truth. I'd hope that our team has a very good medical team, but sometimes surgeries are tricky in that there are different routes that can be taken and sometimes the first "attempt" isn't adequate. It may be less invasive and the hope is that it works, but sometimes it requires follow up when it doesn't. With that, if it creates more damage then that's a problem. Who knows. I like Tanner and have always sung his praises. He works hard out there, seems to be a great teammate and had great energy most of the time. I hope his career doesn't reach a forced ending.

I don't think it's a matter of being "the favourite". BB has stated, quite emphatically, that "JT really wants to win/hates losing". He wants guys out there who care...JT may have momentarily lapses of indifference but, overall, his game isn't played that way. Some others are playing that way....(Myers, OEL...I'm looking at you). Myers seems to care...but he wants to play goal, forward...everything BUT d at times. He takes a kazillion shots a game...often zinging them around the boards (and out). How many times has he been positioned beside our net, stick ready to make the save? Often, when the play's on the other side of the ice. Focus on your position/role. I'm tired of seeing him fly into the screen as he launches himself on his belly like he's sliding into home (only to be taken out of a play). With that big body/reach, there are other options. Our d is atrocious...JT's defensive play is secondary to that. Address it at the source.

If JT was asked about his game and he started rattling off about how it's all good because he has his family and friends....he'd be crucified around here. Team first and this sort of comment, to me, says the team's an afterthought. "Oh sure, I have to work harder BUT...." If there is a "country club" vibe I think this is exactly how that is displayed. "Oh well, it's ok...I have my great life so whatever". I don't see that with JT. Even IF he pouts at times....there's no denying he's all in/wants to win. He cares. I like OEL, but don't like this sort of sloughing it off when he's been benched (whether he deserved it or not). It's serious, this team's in trouble. It's not about family/friends...that's retirement speech stuff. (For someone who didn't want to swirl in negativity, I'll leave it at that. Or...I might not).
