  1. Me too. It's funny because, going to games, you lose all of the negativity. Social media really can drag us down if we follow the slide downhill. Games are full of people having fun (win and lose) and cheering their team on. Sure, you get a few jersey tossers and some boo'ing at times. But, for the most part, people are there for enjoyment. I really need to spend less time online and get back into that rink and cheer my team on. It's a happier way of doing it...I'll let those in charge take care of the rest and accept whatever that brings. I try to live by that "life is what you make it" as we have choices in what we take away from experiences. CHEERS...GO CANUCKS GO
  2. The other thing is...some never learn from their mistakes through players who've proven them wrong in the past. They just move on to the next target. We're a city full of discontentment and that means people are easy to rile up and full on venting from years of disappointment spills over quite easily.
  3. I don't think it's fair to misquote someone and he never said that. To quote him: "Well, unless it's in our locker room I don't really think anybody's opinion really matters to be honest with you. Um, it's not the coach's fault (he could've just left it in his lap, but didn't) I don't even know why this is even being talked about. Maybe I shouldn't have done what I did but it's not out of anger, I was letting him know to go to the bench. I had full control of the puck and that's all it was and...at the end of the day it probably looks optically not good so...people with other opinions I don't really give a....care." Re: chatting with Delia: "Uh yeah, I don't think it's anybody's business." Re: how can you turn that thing around/block out the noise? "The only reason there's noise is because you guys are asking me questions about it. I don't look at anything...like I don't care about this at all. I only care about the guys in the room and my coaches and my teammates...that's all I care about and I didn't even know this was a thing until today". He never referenced the fans. He doesn't do social media and I like that he's not "all about appearances".
  4. Ha, was just posting this in another thread. Yep...I, too, remember the screams to get rid of Bieksa. Because fans get an idea then put players under the microscope and wait for mistakes so they can be "right". Until they're proven wrong (again). This game is full of peaks and valleys....slumps and hot streaks. Social media's given platforms for people to scream from and stuff snowballs rather quickly. Especially when the media types put it out there....just ask some of the best GM's and coaches how they feel about the media. There's a reason for that....they get paid for "stories". Clickbait grabs people's attention and sometimes sort of veers off course in order to do so. The Twitter tabloid mentality.
  5. Stawns is predicting the future and he wasn't correct in the past so...no. I get it, some are still stuck on the get rid of Miller deal but the team weighed in and made a decision on that. Their opinions matter (too). 99 points dragged us out of a hole last year...people might need to accept some of the flaws because those points don't come easily. The team needs a bit of surliness...not less of it. But it's a matter of opinion and I accept that others differ. I'm just glad my team sees the value in Miller because that's all that matters in the end. This "I've played" stuff doesn't really influence (or impress) me. A lot of guys played the game...even at the NHL level. Doesn't mean they know everything....more likely they're more set in their opinions. People call Miller a know it all but I see some of that in "guys who played the game". My ex's did too. Truth be told, 'd rather have sore losers than quiet acceptance of losing. This game's rough around the edges at times...we need less softness and polite manners. This fanbase becomes rabid at times as they search for the next scapegoat. It's a moving target and I don't get too caught up in it. Anyhow, y'all know how I feel about this and I'm never one to be afraid to go against the grain. I remember doing it about Bieksa too when people wanted him gone...got gifted a jersey because someone on that side was turfing it. Wore it with pride for years afterward.
  6. I think the word is out and players will have a hard time finding success with this move as a result. I also wonder about how many high stick infractions are involved? They were fun as a new novelty thing but they kind of hint at some cockiness and individual showboating that only a few can really pull off. I don't know that banning something is the right way to go...let the hotshots give it a go. It's fun and adds a bit of excitement to the game. As long as it stays within the rules and there is no interference with goaltenders.
  7. Well last year they crawled out of a pretty big hole and who led the charge? Miller. "It won't be" statements are your opinion only...not facts. If we get rid of guys who play with an edge and who can engage physically when needed we certainly won't go far...especially if/when we DO get into the playoffs. Miller type players are necessary. They get a little snarly at times but that can be an asset because a team full of nice guys often gets bullied out there. I'm glad this management and the coach see that, even if some of our members don't. That's what matters...their opinions/assessments and it seems they're on board.
  8. His coach had made that decision and we had possession at that point. Anyhow, you've got it firmly intact and your opinion doesn't change mine. We need emotion in this game...passive just isn't cutting it. Cheers. Not wasting my time on this because it matters zero to me what other people think/say. I saw this guy as one of the few trying to drag us out of a hole last year...people have short memories and even shorter tolerance for hockey stuff that's pretty insignificant. It's not prim and proper...guys spit, fight and yes...slam their sticks and yell. Oh well. But the media is all over it so we bite.
  9. Our goaltending and defense haven't been stellar (either)...his job is to score. He's done fairly well at that. But I'm too tired to point out things people should know/keep in context.
  10. I guess maybe you don't have children who throw tantrums. Rarely do they slam a hockey stick and swear...that's more hockey frustration. Kids throw themselves on the floor and wail. "Way out of line"? Not really...acting with a sense of urgency, yes. He wanted to win and that's something this team needs. Badly. Again, I get that some here don't like him but the exaggerations are way out of line. It's hockey and when teams are up against it and losing you see them doing this stuff. But I guess I've been watching it long enough to know that it happens and am not "shocked and outraged" as some are.
  11. Well he's doing his part...he puts up nearly a point per game and is one of the few guys who'll lay out hits. Sure, he has his moments but he usually makes up for them. Ye of zero faith.
  12. Well it's fine you don't like him, many here don't and that's ok. But facts are important. Fact is, we'd have a lot less points if he wasn't on the team so it's not like he doesn't contribute...he does.
  13. Did you listen to Bruce's interview? I did. You should too. “I called him and then I sent him back… I think we’re making a mountain out of a molehill.” We had possession...we had 3 guys waiting to move the puck up the ice as the clock ticked away the last minute of the game.
  14. I don't agree, at all. He owes no one an apology for wanting to win and, in the dying minutes of a game that's one goal away from being tied, reacting as such. With urgency. There's some pride to be salvaged with this team, who've become a bit of a laughing stock and "easy to play against", etc. I don't mind them showing a bit of fire and tenacity. Oh well, people are talking...it's not like they weren't already. It's a joke how things become such big, blown up "news". It's hockey, it's not a church service. He doesn't do social media or any of this crap...really, not a bad decision when you see how things get twisted and stretched beyond anything reasonable. It's tiring...all this "stuff" that gets floated around out there when hockey is no longer the focus. Planes. Grocery shopping excursions...it's become very tabloid.
  15. McKenna's write up was incorrect. Bruce, himself, has stated he called him to the bench.
  16. That wasn't anything to do with Messier....give credit to Brian Burke.
  17. Nope...not attributing any of it to him. We sucked and he was a big part of why.
  18. You give him FAR too much credit. He was a lazy floater cashing in a pay cheque here....nothing more. And his dirty crosscheck on Linden will forever mark him as a dirty POS here. I gave up on my team for the short time he was here. Can't stand him. His impact here? While he was with the team we went from playoffs to not qualifying and dropping about 10 spots in the standings. I remember it well...it was a dark time.
  19. OMG, seriously? What a big fuss over nothing. This is ridiculous...he's a competitor who wants to win. He cares about his teammates and has made that clear. Good God, no one'll ever want to sign here if this is the kind of stuff we blow up. The coach DID make the call but admits it was somewhat confusing. Holy hell, this is such a non story and it's kind of embarrassing that our fan base runs with it. We're always wanting to create a stir and this soap opera mentality is really too much. From people tracking down GM's in supermarkets to flying planes overhead to screaming over a guy who, in the dying seconds of a close game, reacted with urgency. It's always something.
  20. I left for 4 hours...mall, shopping, ate. Come back and it's the same vicious cycle repeating itself, over and over. What was that Frozen song again?
  21. In the dying seconds it was a matter of urgency and decisiveness. JT got that and acted upon it. Freaking out? Honestly, that's quite a stretch.
  22. Well the coach just said he did... It was loud in there, as per Bruce's own words.
  23. This is ridiculous. And calling it a "freak out" is a little much. It's this kind of embellishing that hints at "nothing much here on its own". Click bait. Guy wants us to read his story so let's make it juicy. Twitter's hilarious....calls for a public apology. Seriously? "I'm sowwy". Hockey's a rough sport...if feelings are easily hurt it might not be a fit. My good God, let's not buy into the softness and totally wreck a game by making I'm sorry part of the post game. Think of brothers. Do they fight? Does it mean it's "broken"? More likely, it's just kind of normal and how it is. But if it's a true brotherhood they'll have those moments during periods of frustration and they may even make them stronger in the end. Stuff that gets laughed at down the road as they share a beer and memories. Hurt feelings? Really? I'm so over the upheavals and calls for justice from those needing attention (and hits on their page). Get lost. (Not you....McKenna).
  24. So now the content matters? I thought it was about saving it for the room? Not a public outburst? Moving the goalposts here.
