  1. When my brother and I were kids and our parents had parties, they played this and it always stuck with me. thatta boy TS, keep posting those gems...have always loved that song.... and the timing of the ACDC stuff too, with what they're currently experiencing... TL....two thumbs up for TW
  2. Hey guys, keep the rumours about wives/girlfriends out of here please/thanks.
  3. Seems like Bryan Allen played for us about a hundred years ago. One of our top draft picks if I remember correctly.
  4. My point being could some of the injuries perhaps have been avoided? This team isn't equipped to play the way he wanted to and the issue of depth should have been assessed before we were faced with having to address it? Don't get me wrong...I'm of the keep Torts here awhile thinking because I'm not sure he's had a fair shake at this yet. Some of the injuries were created through shot blocking - that was part of his system.
  5. Abbotsford Heat to be moved.

  6. The average team age overall from the numbers site I pulled info from: 27.5 years Our team average: 27.5 (haha no lie) Here is the site...I simply averaged them out. Not sure of accuracy. http://stats.nhlnumbers.com/teams?year=2014 I tend to agree jijitsu...just look at Teemu to see that isn't necessarily the case.
  7. So how about the Sedins and shot blocking? My point is when did he determine/notice they were old? At the end of the season, after they were beat up and battered? At the beginning, when he was throwing them out there on the front lines? If you know you have an aging yet capable core you must utilize that to the best of your advantage. The "aging" Sedins likely shouldn't be shot blocking. Actually, not too many should because players dropped like flies...that crap'll MAKE you old fast. Tanev is a great example. We have a goaltender in net - HE'S the shotblocker. So I just wonder if he figured it out toward the end, when a good assessment wasn't really available as they were beat up and broken down. Partially due to the type of hockey they were being asked to play. I'm trying to figure it out...I've been a staunch supporter of Torts (and want to remain on board) but also just don't know with wavering ideas. So hearing him say this now...it's kind of a change from what he was saying earlier. I still think he should stick around...I do feel that a period of assessment was in order and he's now in a good place to know what he should do. I also felt the same with MG. And AV. So I clearly don't have the answers but want consistency and Torts never came in and said "this core's old" at the beginning of the season. And he didn't play them like they were old. So when and why did this all change?
  8. Why on EARTH would you speculate on something like this? It isn't high school....there is NO indication of this stuff at all. Other than they've played together for a very long time so it's only natural to have a bond in that. Doesn't mean it's a negative...I'd say more so a positive thing. I often attend training camp and open practices and there is not a hint of this. It would likely be apparent, but not a trace. I don't buy it, at all and at least if you throw something like this out there, give supporting argument/evidence. Because without it, it's meaningless. Why do people dig for dirt that isn't there? Character?
  9. I should add to my comment that if Torts is saying that now, why DID he use the guys by playing them excessively. I like him, but he's talking out of both sides of his mouth now. A week or two ago he stated that "Kes is a beast" and could handle those minutes. If they're old, didn't he over utilize them then? He has to own some of that...while he has this core in place, his job is to recognize issues and address them. So pushing them with blocking shots, playing endless minutes, etc. seems to contradict the "they're old" that he's throwing out there now. They weren't much younger a few months ago. This part concerns me, as he's shifting into a different gear now. I don't want him all over the map - I want him to identify and address things...if his ideas change over time, then I blame him for not doing a good job in pinpointing and moving forward with things. Is he making them old(er) by wearing them into the ground? The team is "new" to him, so I'm allowing for an assessment of his players period. But he should now know enough about them to decide whether they're old or if he wants to keep grinding them into the ground with ridiculous minutes. Strike a balance to ensure that "old" isn't just "exhausted".
  10. The core IS getting older by hockey standards but it's all about weighing things out. It doesn't necessarily mean "put 'em out to pasture" at a certain age...it's about how you utilize them and seeing what strengths they still have in relation to weakening in areas. Ryan Smythe touched on it...said that he couldn't keep up speed wise with the young guys but his hockey IQ could offset it. That's the key and the thing to look at. Obviously, roles will change with a deterioration of speed and energy. But 30 isn't 60 - top athletes take care of their bodies and strength can be maintained through diet and fitness. I think you have to adjust and see if/how guys can still contribute as they slow down. A lesser role that turns toward mentorship and leadership. Torts is a smart man...he isn't gong to ignore or gloss over things that are obvious. It's how he addresses them that's key.
  11. Looks like their coach's slimy ways are running rampant now....no accountability, no class. Calgary fans who are anything but concerned need to go back to the rodeo and clean up cow crap. A true hockey fan NEVER wants to see a guy wheeled off on a stretcher. They're now on par with the Boston Booers. Yep, they're idiots. I NEVER check other fan forums but just did...what a lowlife bunch of hicks. And I love the one guy on page 3 calling out our fanbase for being bandwagoners/not showing up. Page 3 - the last page in their GDT. Shoot for the stars, Flames.
  12. I know someone at a game a few games ago and he was seeing lower bowls sold (scalpers) at the door for $20 each. LOWER bowl. Unbelievable. So, be careful but it is possible.
  13. Haha, this is my "we're done/no playoffs" music. Grieving.
  14. I must say that I'm thrilled about Pat Quinn being honoured tonight...just think he's great. I was standing in line someplace once...it was a busy event and I was surprised that one of the booths I wanted to check out had no line up. So I'm standing there at the side when I feel a tap on my shoulder...I turned to see Pat Quinn. He went "um, nice try" then pointed to a very long line on the other side that I'd somehow missed! We had a chuckle as I tried to plead my innocence...he was really nice/funny. I negotiated with him and told him I'd go line up properly if he'd give me an autograph...he obliged. Was so personable and approachable. Was a brief interaction but the way he handled it was awesome. I was starstruck, but tried to be cool. Much respect to him and so very happy they're doing this ceremony...only wish I was there.
  15. Haha, I did one too..my official Canucks calendar says 5:00 start...it's been that kind of year. Anyhow, get this season over with already.
  16. OK knock it off and go to bed. Haha, I'm going Red Wings too DN
  17. Oh my Lord, his wife in those heels. Do they not have a carpet in Edmonton?
  18. Good job Hank...you lead 'em out there. And Hrudey doesn't remember when Iggy led the Flames out there.
  19. I ain't mad now when we lose.
  20. This. Every single word of it rings true for me.
