(Rumour) 4 teams interested in J.T. Miller
-DLC- replied to combover's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Such a non issue...if that's all you've got on Miller it's a big reach. Hockey players swear, it's a fact. It's nothing to hold against him. At all. But sure, keep that stat. -
IIHF bans Russia and Belarus for 2023-24 season

It's hard to argue against that, except hopefully we've evolved and have learned something from those horrible atrocities. I never like the examples that are used in an attempt to somehow justify current inaction. Besides, they're in the past but the stuff with Russia is current. We can't rewrite history but we can try to be a better world and learn from it. Showing opposition toward Russia for what they're doing is a show (statement) of support for the Ukraine as well. Taking action with shows of protest are better than...doing nothing. -

This is such bs. I go to many games and....no. He does not. He often has his kids there too...he's not what people make him out to be. A good family man who, yes, on occasion swears out of frustration. If I had a dollar for every time a hockey player did that I'd be rich. Bad words are the norm not the exception in hockey. But sure, what a horrible guy... -

I'm SO incredibly happy that the Sedins are still on the ice and involved with the game they love so much and contributed a great deal to. It's awesome...they're just great human beings and the skillset they had and knowledge they can share is so valuable to this team. -

At the end of the game he was on the ice at one point for about 3 minutes...but I think he loves that. He's young and capable. -

He was also great last year. We can't "wait for him to fail"...watch for that. All players have peaks and valleys so if he slumps or has moments, let's take it with a grain of salt and not forget what he has done and can do. Because chances are he'd pull himself out of it. I think what we see is what we get and the overall picture is...something pretty damn great. The last several games is only part of the story...he was a 99 point player last season. Pulled us along when we needed something. He's been a ppg player since he got here...pretty consistent. So this storyline of "recent success/let's hope he's for real" really has been proven so far. Those stuck on him being a bust because he had a few momentary lapses can probably give up on that idea now. Instead of holding their breath looking for flaws it's time to start seeing the good stuff he does. -

Yep...notice in that Next Gen video who it is welcoming the kids? Our "spokesman" (and captain). He's just a natural in that role in every way. -

Thing is, you may feel that the players are innocent/not involved or in support of what's taking place. But neither are the Ukrainian children who are being bombed in their homes. I fully agree with it. And I'm sad that some pay the price and have to sit out but there's something more important taking place. People are needlessly dying (being executed is how I see it). Any action to try to stop that is supported by me. -

They got a couple of lucky goals and the Canucks did not get off to a good start. Give some credit where it's due though...Vegas squeaked out a win. We have injuries too. Were you offering this same "explanation" when Demko was out? Or did we just suck and we ignore that part? Don't bother, not even worth it. -

I, too, wondered about this. I went away thinking it might've been the case (and to quit trying!!). -

I LOVE the video montages and hype stuff...I get emotional (lol). I really find it adds to the atmosphere and, without this "filler", it'd be pretty lame/boring. Especially when there are lulls and it's quiet...it's nice to have something wake up the crowd. Plus, families/kids....it's all about the entertainment value as well as what's happening on the ice. Those kids dancing in the crowd are having a great time and they may not know everything about hockey, but they'll likely remember how much fun it is and that stuff sticks. Future fans. -

So when it's us it's "excuses". But other teams? "Reasons"? -

I'm glad people are slowly catching on. Some of us saw it in him all along (yes, me and a small handful of others..you know who you are). So many here that just completely dumped on JT for a few "moments". You don't have that kind of fire/passion that some saw as a liability unless you also have it to your advantage when you can channel it correctly. May it be a lesson for the future...don't totally dump on our players. I remember this happening with 2 others in the past (Burr, Bieksa). Exercise patience in this deal...especially with players who outwardly do demonstrate how much they care about the game/winning. They're special types. I give RT a lot of credit...but also, this team's been through some frustrating stuff and it's bound to surface and bubble over at times. It's not a character flaw or defect...it's called being human. Emotionless players often don't care as much, that's all. JT cares a whole lot. And when he signed on here, it showed his character and commitment to THIS group. He's always shown his potential...mostly in how he does play the game on the edge and that comes with risk at times. It's not perfect by an means but damn, we sure needed a guy who plays like this. And to think about trading him? No. No freakin way do you replace all that he brings for a greater good. That's a really risky plan. I do get the "but the return with this timeline" that some will put out there. But the timeline is here and now, too...in how the team builds a foundation and that all important culture we hear about so often. But welcome to the party to those changing their minds about JT. I had a feeling you might. Don't forget to slam the gate on your way in! -

I wondered that too. He also was NOT very involved in the second....had one shot but wasn't really a factor. He also did take a hit from Hague (? I believe) earlier on so maybe that rattled him a bit? Not sure. -
That's like asking us which kid we love more. Can't do it.

For me (until Qwag's here to respond) you get to see everything...stuff away from the play that you don't see on TV. Also, if you're near the glass it really amplifies the speed/intensity of the game. So fast. The hits are also huge against the boards but on TV you don't get the magnitude of them from TV. I always miss the commentary...it can feel quiet but you also get the communication that happens (or not) within the team as well. It just is a much different perspective of it all for me. -

JT's had 5 (good, solid) hits in a handful of his last games. Saw (well, mostly heard the aftermath) one that really helped them...Vegas was about to enter our end and he smashed McNabb. It resulted in the puck being turned around and headed their way. They'd been all over us and that helped things shift a bit. He plays a really hard, physical game and when someone's being mugged he's right in there, ready to go. We SO needed that kind of leadership (especially now with Schenn gone). A total team player who also can put them on his back when needed. He does it all. -

I sure was. He came through, big time. They just fell a little short but with him leading the way, anything's possible. Beast mode. -

Man, I was so wanting to come in here last night to celebrate....JT MILLER! That penalty shot (same as last game) was incredible...what patience and that can't be easy to roof a backhand like that. In't he just the greatest?? If you don't see "captain material" there then your eyes are closed. He comes through. Also when someone goes after our player(s)...he's the first one in there. They had a slow start (again) and might've taken this one had that not been the case. But...oh well. Loss is ok.
