Thing is, Wedgewood is hurt and so I guess they feel it's important to let Murray get involved. I'm pretty sure it isn't because they are "looking past" us. Again...teams that do that are kind of dumb because that stuff can stick. Start acting like you've got things wrapped up and it can quickly unravel. I think most teams understand that.

People who say "they've" been doing this since 2016/for years and "until they prove otherwise"?? I'm pretty confident when I say "this" group today has nothing to do with what's happened over the past 7 years. Things are quite different and it's important to assign ONLY what this group has done to their history. Not what the teams before them did/didn't do.

They don't know any more than the rest of us. "Because of Bedard" is something they've convinced themselves of...talked themselves into. But the reality is the chance is very slim and you don't "count" on it. You hope for it if you end up in a position to. I never watch in a bar...to many distractions and hard to really "watch" a game in a bar. People drinking who talk like they know.

Meh, I still think they own some of this too. Myers has been hit and miss lately under the new coach. It's not like he doesn't slide back into old behaviours and focus on playing forward and goaltender at times vs d. Zinging shots that miss the net and go all the way round the boards and out. Standing at the goal line where he often gets in the way more than anything. Clear guys out from beside the net, don't try to make the save...we have a goaltender for that. Also...he still makes some dreadful outlet passes that turn things back at him. Last game (or the one before), one was glaring. An easy out that he put RIGHT on the opponent's stick and it almost created a chaotic scoring chance against. He looks lost sometimes. I like him best when he's physical rather than sliding all over the place...using his body to slam guys off the puck rather than trying to become an obstacles in the way of the puck. I know he's a bit shellshocked by penalties but I prefer when he plays that way rather than a way that seems very unsure at times.

If they're capable of "what we've seen/playing hard" what makes you think they can't continue?". They ARE learning what needs to be done and have seen that, if they put the work in and "play the right way" (that ol' cliche), they can be successful. So why are we so willing to overlook that and write them off? Because of "the past"? Many of these current players don't own that history and some who do have had obstacles to overcome (injuries). And I feel they deserve a better assessment than what some here give them. I'm ok with organic tanking...there's something to cheer us up in the dark times. But I much prefer this happiness. In the here and now.

You have to quit living in the past....it doesn't always represent the future. (I know...it's called anxiety and I've worked hard to learn this). Our best players are good enough right now....so try to stay current. Give credit where it's due...you sell our guys short. They deserve better. Working in a school, imagine if that mindset was acceptable or adopted? "Yeah kid, you've been awful when it matters so there's no point in trying. It's been established. Doesn't matter that you have a new teacher (coach) and are learning new things...you weren't good enough when it mattered (on that last test) so we don't care what you're doing now".

"A shot at". Kinda weird that some want to sacrifice what this team IS building around players that also matter. You know, Petey, Quinn, Demko. Mediocrity isn't guaranteed to be changed through "a" pick that "may" lead to a player. It also has to come through the guys on the team who are learning how to be better. We want them to believe in what they're doing rather than question it. It's about them being happy (too). Not just this dream some have of a player coming in to save the day who they may have a slim chance at getting. These players have to be part of that.

While that may help in getting "A" guy, it's also important to consider that "the" guys in place also matter. So them coming close without getting rewarded means they experience a black cloud of doubt and negativity rather than the positivity that we're now seeing. You don't think it matters that Petey's finding success? Their games matter too...and we don't want a team that loses if it means they start questioning things, pointing fingers, etc. The bonding and instilled confidence that takes place through this winning matters. Momentum that's being generated and can carry through with a winning mindset. I don't want a team that settles for losing "because". Acceptance and indifference. So it's a fine line here that we're talking about. Personally, I'm ok with losing as it does serve a greater good. But I also know that winning is helping to create that all important "culture" we're hearing about as these guys gel, develop chemistry and start to go to bat for one another. Team game and it's as important as acquiring "a" player.
