Time to take a break from the back and forth and make myself some brunch. A nice omelette and some curling.

Realistically, though, our wish list has to be brought to fruition by other teams who may have other ideas. It's just not as easy to "flip" players as some here would pencil it in. But you don't just write a team off because there may be a few missing pieces or spare parts that need changing. Which is what some here seem to do.

You state your opinion like facts. The roster has been changed quite dramatically over the recent past...maybe give them time, under the new coach, to determine what needs to be done. Which is exactly what Tocchet's said they're doing. So...in your overhaul who goes? And how? And who are we replacing them with? Let's hear the plan and the path to sustainable wins. Or is it dRafT aLL the pLayrz?

I recently had the great honour of participating in this full day program. I was incredibly moved and a sense of stillness and quiet filled the day. https://www.grousemountain.com/hiwus-first-nations I've always felt so connected to First Nations peoples...just because of how my life was as a child (do I really have a picture of me holding a wild baby bear at a friend's farm in Ladner as a girl? Yes, I do). My father relied heavily on "the land". Fishing (a man of the sea), hunting, trapping, growing food, smoking and pickling salmon (built his own smoker), knot tying, being able to predict weather and wind. Even the spiritual aspect of how our land is precious and to respect and understand it...so I tapped into it early on. Living in a corner of the world far removed from "big city". Plus I'm good friends with many FN people and their stories are so important to me. They matter. I really dived into Canadian films on T & R day - stayed up all night watching (and crying). It's just so important to open these doors...to learn "the truth" and honour people here before us. The Grizzlies, Indian Horse, etc. Painful to watch but the truth hurts. So I, too, thank you for this important GDT.

Tocchet gets it. Love our new coach (didn't think I would, but I do). -

It seemed "logical" at the time but helps make my point. "On paper" doesn't always pan out and the guys in place/on the roster are as important as the ones you've pegged as "the answer". I went back to check (because I thought I recalled the JV stuff)...a wise man once said something very logical. Cheers. -

Yet you were also so high on Jake from what I recall...what happened there? -
I'm hearing Fred Durst's voice from the past..... Keep rolling, rolling, rolling.... Hate the feeling after a loss. Downer, empty stuff. Whatever happens, this team is once again fighting back to show they've got pride and resilience. That they're NOT the laughing stock that some want them to be for "a greater good". That stuff sticks and I'm glad they're shedding it. Not waiting for a superman to fly in and help save the day. Loving the direction they're taking. Demko's back in fine form (have to have solid goaltending if you're going to get anywhere...check). They're playing a different way. They're not "easy" to play against anymore and are outhitting their opponents. They're not chasing all over the place. They're playing as a team that has each other's backs. We have some pretty "star" players in their own rights and I support them. Not just the dream boys of the draft.

Because you say so? It doesn't work with YOUR logic so it's wrong? Not even worth bothering...you barrel along without addressing what others are presenting. This is weak, what you're doing here ^^. Throw in homers next to really highlight that your point isn't strong enough on its own. -

You are presenting an argument based on YOUR logic but ignoring the stuff that others are responding with. That's your deal, not the team's (thank God they get it). You want the team to lose in order to "win" a really good player in a special draft year. I think you're too fixated on the adjectives and that's blinding you. What about the stuff I've presented about what losing does to "the present players on the team"...the great additions that are also really good and special? -

So you want the team to operate based on "a" player in a draft but not "the players" in place? Who were also high acquisitions and are proven in the NHL? This team is quite different than the one in place when the Sedins were aging out. You may not have noticed though while you were penciling in the next great move. People who go back a decade or more to prove a point about the here and now really are stuck and haven't moved on. Don't bother...if you don't see the big picture then I can't help you. -

Because they've pretty much come out and said that. I feel that your statement of "they're under contract" really undermines the importance of making sure they are happy and don't become miserable and unmotivated. They're as much key players in all of this as a shiny new toy/player. If we get a high pick it's great...you're putting a spin on it that ignores that we'd have to be losers to win that game. They don't want to be losers and the impact of that could be quite significant. So what the fans "want" and what the players "want" are a little different. The players want to win and be the best...the fans want to win a player who'll be the best, despite the team or what that means to them. -

Nope, not at all. I'm saying you don't sacrifice everything to get that one pick. Which is what some here would have this team do. Disregard guys in place who hate to lose....like Petey, Quinn, Demko, Miller, etc., etc. A higher pick is a huge asset but so are the ones we've already acquired who also matter. -

Plus....the Kings had a chance to be first in the conference....you don't think they were trying for that? I do. Their play didn't say "mailing it in" to me. -

So look at the Ducks. That hotshot Zegras isn't enough on his own and the Ducks are in the basement. D matters. They're not "better off" (you may add "yet" but that is "yet to be determined"). You help make my point ... that more matters than just acquiring "the guy". Team game. -

I think what you're missing is that these top picks have to be viewed as "additions" to teams, not the entire team. So what happens with the surrounding roster also matters. You build with them in place too and some just want to focus on "a" guy or two like they will be the answer. They'll be part of the equation, that's all. Based on what others have said has to actually materialize in the NHL. It's all speculation until then.
