  1. They’re a big, heavy, veteran team too so probably a little tougher on them than the average squad.
  2. Funny, I was just thinking this game should probably be more like 5-2. Martin having a good one (and the Kings have flubbed a few chances.) Still, full credit to the visiting squad. Don’t let up in the 3rd.
  3. Just have to keep up the effort in their own zone and get decent goaltending. Long way to go this year.
  4. Horvat and Miller have looked amazing together as well (but not as good as the Petey line) and that’s just bananas.
  5. I think he was hurt to start the year + we had a bunch of injuries on the back end so he played through it. Add in some natural chemistry with Bear and yeah he certainly looks to be a lot better. Hope he keeps it up!
  6. Fabbro might be nice if we can move Myers but then we’re getting pretty small on that side. Not sure how much that matters anymore but it seems like the top teams are still pretty heavy on the back end.
  7. It’s not a 27th overall roster, IMO. They need to make moves for sure but if they can keep Bo they probably should as it likely creates a bigger hole than it fills. (Not saying I wouldn’t listen at the deadline.) If they do trade Bo they likely move Miller back to 2C. Could work with a workhorse 3C or another Mikhayev-type defensive stud winger to help him out. Anyways, it’s as much up to Bo as it is management at this point. Maybe he’s ready to move on and forces their hand.
  8. That’s a huge gamble on Glass. Could probably get something better than that for Bo?
  9. Signing a guy who’s an elite scoring 2C isn’t what leads to a “decade of mediocrity” though. For all the team’s problems, we aren’t sucking because of Horvat and if you aren’t rebuilding (they aren’t) you don’t look to move your 2C.
  10. Lazar, Bear, Joshua, Mikhayev, Aman, Studnicka have all looked good. Impressive cherry picking from under that wet blanket though.
  11. I agree people would “support” it. Just saying it likely seems like a better idea right now than if/when we go down that path I still think the meandering mess that JB went through accomplished the main goal of a rebuild - he landed elite talent in Hughes and Pettersson. Would you trade those two for Lafreniere and Kakko? Or whoever? I understand PA/JR’s reluctance to just blow it up despite having zero ties to the current roster. Petey just went head to head with Mackinnon and is getting compared to Datsyuk. He’s also stated he wants to play for a winner and we control his contract for 2 more years before he can walk.
  12. Allvin/JR have moved slowly and cautiously but have done an overall pretty good job with pro scouting so far. As easy as it is to just get frustrated and give up I’m willing to let them cook for another deadline / offseason and see what they come up with. There’s some spicy ingredients - probably not wise to toss it all out just yet.
  13. I just read something indicating Canucks are still trying to keep Horvat. The key would be moving from guys like Boeser, Garland, Myers or Pearson. Maybe Miller but I doubt it. I think things are going to move fairly aggressively this deadline / offseason + a new coach. Hopefully turns things around enough so Petey re-signs.
  14. I’d keep Schenn unless it was a 2nd or better coming back. With the idea of re-signing him for another year or two. At 1.5 or less. I love that he’s not afraid to get after Miller.
  15. The social media crowd loves the idea of a rebuild but would complain the whole way. Just like they’ve stuck around for the past 8 years of apparent non-rebuild. Aquilini is under no pressure to do anything.
  16. I’d bet dollars to doughnuts that Petey is just fine waiting till next offseason before signing. I wouldn’t want to lock myself into this nonsense and his price is only going up.
  17. I like the “3 points for a regulation win” idea. 2 for an overtime / shootout win and 1 for the OT loser point… but it make reading standings look even uglier.
  18. If Miller is now a winger again, maybe they can push Boeser, Garland and Myers out. That’s still a huge shakeup and 17 mil in space + whatever else clears up. Maybe 7 mil in raises to Bo and Petey… and 10+ to decide on Kuzmenko, Hoglander, a new RD and 3C. Not an easy task.
  19. I agree with this, 100%! I think it’s pretty clear there’s some solid pieces but the sum of the parts is underachieving for one reason or another. Lineup needs some tinkering for sure. I believe I was commenting on it Petey chooses not to sign long term (accepts his QO to walk to free agency) he kind of forces a rebuild. Can’t see us competing without him as the flagship 1C. (Barring a lottery win this year, I guess!)
  20. It didn’t look like a “we stole one” win, either. Sure the defending champs looked super dangerous at times, as they are wont to do… but that was just a good game.
