  1. Oh, I think we’re all there for sure. I’m just not getting my hopes up for sweeping changes just yet.
  2. Who has the assets, cap space and will to be buying in November?
  3. I said something similar when we lost to Carolina. That’s the problem with digging in with a 0-4-2 start. When we lose the ones we’re expected to lose it feels like a disaster as opposed to the usual ups and downs of a season.
  4. Benning’s team looked pretty good to end last season. This Rutherford team looks terrible.
  5. At this point we just need to ride it out. Sell hard at the deadline if it keeps up. Core piece or two + peripherals. In the offseason we’ll still have Petey-Miller-Hughes-OEL-Demko and a decent winger or two. Management can decide to rebuild (trade Demko, Pettersson, maybe even Hughes) or re-tool gunning for a 1RD and a true 3C around that group. Just so listless in losses right now it’s mind numbing.
  6. Karlsson is evidence why, even if OEL is struggling now, it doesn’t mean he’s “ruining the team” for the remainder of his contract. Early 30s isn’t that old for defencemen.
  7. I was surprised to see so many chances to the lineup after what was our best game of the year. Don’t like questioning the coach but that stands out.
  8. We’re gonna tank out, replace Bo with Bedard and win 3 cups running Bedard-Petey down the middle for the next decade.
  9. Slow start makes a bit more sense with Hughes, Myers and OEL all banged up to various degrees. Toss in injuries to Dermott, Poolman and Stillman. Less important but Boeser and Mikheyev also with injuries to start the year. Hopefully we’re just getting some back luck out of the way early!
  10. Sharks remind me of our team back in 2014. They have nothing anyone would want and already let some of their better players walk for nothing or very little.
  11. I wonder who Boudreau plays him with? Doesn’t seem to be a natural fit with Hughes or Rathbone since they’re all a little smaller offensive calibrated players. But I also don’t see him breaking up OEL-Myers.
  12. I just meant I think they don’t have to do as much when Hughes is on the ice - maybe him being out a few days will emphasize how they can help out. This has been an issue with the current Canucks for awhile though. As an aside, I did think they did a better job blocking shots and breaking up passes.
  13. Although OEL flubbed a few last night, I think Stawns was talking about the forwards/wingers not doing a good job helping get the puck out of the zone. To that end they miss Hughes, who just lugs it out himself half the time.
  14. What did you think of the last game? To me it almost looked like a whole different team. Maybe just because the Pens are a little slower and older but it sure looked like a much better team effort.
  15. For sure - and finding the right partner for Hughes has always been the key to upgrading the D from “average” to “good/very good” at least in my eyes. I like the point about doing it all on the cheap - if they manage to pull it off like this then their patience could be very much rewarded.
