yeah,,Lu allowed,3 goals on 8 shots in 8:35 in game 6,lol, Cory played game 6 as well and allowed 2 goals on 32 shots in 50 minutes, Yes the Canucks played a bad defensive game, but the 3 goals in 8:35 on 8 shots that Lu allowed still sucks.

Lu had 3 terrible games in the finals,,,and was pulled twice in 1st round after allowing 6 goals in just over 2 periods and 4 another time in just over 1 period vs the hawks, and had a game allowing 4 goals on 23 shots vs the preds in another, so if Lu had only 3 bad games what the hell is your definition of bad? Pretty sure Lu was the starter for all 2011-12 and played a large majority of the games and his numbers were miles worse than Cory's.

Quick playoffs after winning the cup 9 wins with a 1,86 gaa and .934 save percentage.Lu after making the finals the following year had zero wins was 3.59 with a .891 save percentage.

Quick had a bad season yes,,,still at least as good as Lu's. Quick had an excellent playoff while Lu was good but not spectacular anywhere. Schneider's gaa was damn near 1/2 a goal game better and his save % was .927 vs Lu and his .907 and you think Lu should not lose his job to Cory?lol If you think for 1 second they wanted Cory to take over for Lu you be the one that is extremely high.

lol,,you sure chose a crappy comparison. Quick has a Stanley Cup a Conn Smythe and a return trip to the conference finals and won 25 playoff games in the last 2 seasons, . Lu has zero playoff wins in them same 2 seasons and has been to 1 conference finals in his career.

2 years in sports is a significant amount of time, The last 2 years Quick has played outstanding in the playoffs. Yes his regular season was poor, but when ya make conference finals with a 1.86 GAA and .934 save %. If Lu was like Billy Smith who often didn't have great regular seasons but normally played well in the playoffs nobody would have an issue. As for the Olympic debate, sports is often like that, for many years after Tretiak Canada had a massive advantage because guys like Myshkin just were not that good, and although Russia was 1 or 2 in the world they had sub par goal goaltending. Canada as a Nation is at a weak point for goaltending right now, and just about all the major powers will have better goaltending than us. Last Olympics it was about how we were not developing top notch defencemen, but now we seem to be fine on the back end.

Quick was pulled or replaced zero times in 11/12 and in the Kings 4 losses gave up 2 goals 3 times and 3 goals once(2.33 gaa roughly), In other words his team was in all 20 games that post season., Thomas was pulled or replaced zero times in 2010-11 and the Bruins lost 9 games and Thomas allowed 25 goals(roughly 2.75 gaa) and Thomas's team was in every game with a chance to win ,Luongo was replaced or pulled 5 times and could have been yanked more in 2010-11 in Vancouver losses Luongo gave up 39 goals in around 8 games of game time in our 10 losses Luongo gave up 39 goals (gaa of about 5) and we had no chance to win in 6 games. It is easy to see why Lu is so frustrating to so many because when he is on game he is so good, but when he is bad he is absolutely terrible and lets in goals in rapid deflating fashion so often.

I don't consider Brodeur elite at this stage of his career. He has had a brilliant and elite overall career, but as of now he is the same as Lu, an average NHL goalie.

Then maybe you should create a topic asking if the team is elite because pretty sure this topic is whether people still consider Lu elite.

Every goalie has let in some bad goals, every goalie has cost his team games. Elite goalies steal series where you are not the best team and still win. Cory is not elite yet because he has yet to do this as well. Lu has been the best player in many games to be certain, but he has been the worst in just as many or more games, and elite goalies steal many more games than they cost you.

Wonder how it would have panned out if Schneider got to play more than 1 home game. Cory both times came into a series with the other team having huge momentum going home up 2-0. Lu on the other hand in his last 6 games has been home for 5 games, being up 3 games to 2 in the Boston series coming off a win and losing the last game in Boston and final game at home, and starting 2 home games starting a series at home the last 2 seasons.

They all make misakes but some wont miss a shift while others may get almost zero playing time Do Rome and Raymond not mess up but AV likes them and is much more forgiving than some. When Lu has sucked he refuses to pull him until it is far to late. AV plays favourites and seems unfair in his assesments sometimes. Schultz will be a rookie and make mistakes like everyone else, but with AV there is a higher chance that he would be benched for long periods so AV can make room for his faves.
